Bumping the thread, any Vet/Senior riders heading to LL on a 125 this year?
I qualified on my 125 last year in the Over 50 class, then broke my arm two weeks before LL. I sold my 125 and only ride my Alta now. If MX Sports recognized the AMA e bike rule, I would have tried on the Alta this year.

Michael Keating won the South Central Regional last year and got a 3 place Moto finish on his 03 YZ125 at LL last year in the Over 50 class and I think 6th overall. He won the South Central Regional again this year on his 03 YZ125. Not sure if he is going to ride that or his KTM350 at LL.

This 50 year old (me) enjoys the heck out my ‘05. Going to put the regular silencer back on and take it out today after a few sessions on the 450.

Sounds like you’ve got some unfinished business on the 125? could get a nice 125 on an e bike trade ?

Ringing them out and you gotta ride them WFO is the common talk amongst vets who have them. Whichever, I failed to witness any of either watching multiple vets on their 125’s a few weeks ago at Milestone whilst my stepdaughter was on the track on her 85...

Grab a 125 and show everyone how to ride properly then?

That's called practice with passing and I am sure that you have had plenty of practice of being in the way of faster riders as well!!!

Guess you haven't raced the Over 50 class in Texas...

I love 125s with a fast light guy on them. I Frikkin hate riding the gutless blenders. If you ar a big guy, it’s an instant disadvantage.
I can say though, that there was nothing sweeter than watching the 125 pro classes. Man they sound sweet.

I wish there was a 125 class at the nationals still.

Hello, I've just finished rebuilding this 2004 YZ125 from the ground up, and I'd like to join the older guys with 125's club please.

Cool thread bump... what old guys are still going to run a 125 in 2019? I am anxiously awaiting my TMR ported cylinder and head, this couple with my Vortex CDI and next gen Smart Carb should really make it fun and hopefully eat a little less roost from the 450 guys.

I still am!! Haha! I don't think I'll ever be without one again to be honest. The only reason I'd sell the one I have , would be to get a new one. And this year ( after racing and riding over 35 years. ) I now have for the first time ever , a matching set of bikes. TC 125 and TC 250 , and this summer will be fucking awesome!

She still talks about that Ted. She was extremely grateful for you helping her , and it basically saved her whole trip. She is nursing a broken foot at the moment , but seems eager to get the season started.

Guess I missed this thread while I was taking a two year break...

I got back on the bike January 1st this year, mostly on the YZ250.
I have the 250 and 125 loaded in the van tonight for some fun at Riverdale tomorrow.

Jeffro I'll take you up on the invite (from a year or two back) to shred 125s sometime.

I think there's a practice scheduled at Washougal on April 24th.
I'll be there if they're not rained out and will probably do at least one moto on the 125.

Vet rider Robbie Reynard did pretty well a couple years ago on a 125 against the fast kids on 4 strokes at Loretta's.

He sure did, but I ain't no Robbie Reynard or even Jeffro. Just a guy living a 125 fantasy(or nightmare) in the Vet/Sen class this year. "Wow, you see that guy on a 125"?? Crazy....

That sounds like a plan man! I didn't get to hit Washougal more then I think once last year. This year I'd like to do quite a few more for sure. If you can remember , shoot me a PM or something a few weeks before. And if you end up going , I'll do my best to be there.

Will be 61 in April, mushing the scale at about 250 lbs and having a ball on my 1993 KX125.. Suspension revalved, spring changes, PSI pipe, shorted 1 1/2" so I can reach the ground.. It's plenty fast to scoot my butt around and does everything I need it to do. I'm not out to beat the 450's, 250's or anything for that matter. Just going out with my son and some buddies having a ball riding MX.

my excuse for not buying a new 450 that currently is not in the budget and riding a old 125 is I what I have the most fun owning. It's more fun for me to easily toss it on the stand, easier to work on ,sound's better in my helmet, smells better when hot, more fun to hook a section and build my fragile ego if I should finish ahead of someone with a faster /newer bike. Someone will always be faster than me. But hey may not have as fun as me.
That said,I'd like to not have so much fun on a new 450 for a while

I cant believe I am considered a vet at 28. Here is my stock 2002 rm125 ( day I got it, shes been fixed up a little). I just had a buddy visit me this weekend who kept asking why I ride mid 2000s 2 strokes instead of buying a new 450. Some people just dont get it!!

I’m trying to have my 04’ cr125 project done before mid April so I can take it to socal for a ride/race trip. Obviously still going to race my 450 but I’m building the 125 as nice as Ithe budget allows. Should be a ripper! Oh and I’m 38 ?

Woodland MX last weekend, 93 CR 125. One of the coolest things about 125s is that I can race it at my level, then hand it over to my daughter who is a beginner, and it works just fine for her too. Fun, versatile and cheap!

I was going to post a "spoke with my wallet" thread but this one is what got me interested in a 125. I rode one in a few races last year to test the waters. I never had so much fun in my life and here we are with a new Yz125. I thought about KTM/Husky but my Yamaha dealer is a friend and an all around good dude. I have never looked forward to a race season as much as I"m looking forward to this one. So thanks to Jeffro and all the other vets with 125s that got me off my ass to try a tiddler.

Bonus points to anyone who can name every rider on my Yamaha wall of fame.
