WHO IS THE MOST TALENTED BIKE RIDER EVER?

7/26/2018 9:23am
I've always equated Talent with how easily a guy can make it look while winning races. Saying that, JMB is most definitely the most talented writer I've ever seen with Ron lechien a very close second and Stefan Everts 3rd

You disagree, or do I not make sense? Or both lol?
Both.

With regards to raw talent....

You said that RC "was clearly not on the same level" as Reynard and Windham.

Are you smoking crack again? Be honest with us here.

In basketball terms that would be like saying Jordan "was clearly not on the same level" as Tracy McGrady and Steve Nash.

In football terms that's like saying Tom Brady "was clearly not on the same level" as Jay Cutler and Matt Schaub.

Before you post, read out loud what you typed and see if it makes sense.

RC has dominated the sport of motocross since he was like 8 years old. DOMINATED. The talent is there along with everything else.

Not on the same level.....

Just stop.

Bike rider or racer? Bike rider I can't put anyone above Travis. Racer for me, just going off of talent alone, is James.

Define the word talent? Is it someone's ability to do something easier than the rest, with minimal effort. Or is it someone who trains like everyone else, but still has that X-Factor to go to the next level. Or is it someone who isn't naturally gifted and works hard enough to be the best.

So for 3 different definitions of the word 'Talent' you could say, J-Law/Hill for the first, James 100% for the 2nd, or Dungey / RC for the 3rd.

Question. Is talent born with or created?

Stewart. Full stop
But there was an Australian guy if you followed some road racing in the US and some MX in straya his name was Anthony Gobert amd he was a fucking lord on a motorcycle MX , road or flat track. Such a pity were he ended ....
I might have to agree with you on the Gobert call. I remember watching him keeping pace with Jeff Emig when Jeff was in his prime...
I might have to agree with you on the Gobert call. I remember watching him keeping pace with Jeff Emig when Jeff was in his prime at Perris Raceway back in the day. Marc Marquez does some pretty amazing things on a bike, too. He seems to crash and pick the bike back up mid crash with his elbow at least once a weekend.
Yeh he really was incredible in his day. I rember standing next to Eddie Warren at a SX in Brisbane and Anthony was launching these huge tripples on his KX 80 and Eddie was tripping. I really do believe if he had the mental game he could of made it no worries at SX in the US . His transformation to road racing as quick as he did was mind boggling. I seen him Rock up to the Aussie flat track titles with out riding it all year and blowing all the flat track guys away.. Some crew on here would have some crazy stories about his career and unfortunate self inflicted demise. Nearly movie worth

Talented rider, ya all need to go to Google and look up a guy named Steve Wise, many consider him the most talented rider due to winning in mx/sx/superbikes. There are a lot of specialists, but this guy could ride any 2 wheeler fast.

The question was most talented bike rider ever. I think Pastrana would be in there, and the rest would probably be the guys like Cody Webb, Taddy, but I would put Toni Bou solidly in there.

Tonu Bou is definitely worth a mention, it blows my mind what he does. I think it blows the world number 2 trials riders mind as well. It's been a competition to decide whos 2nd best for a long time.

Since you stated “bike rider” no one will ever surpass Dick Mann.

"Question. Is talent born with or created?"

That's an easy one. Some people are born with the ability to learn faster and/or do things better than some others.

I'm probably gonna go with RC (JS couldn't cover him) Everts, JS, Rossi, Herlings, MC, Kenny Roberts, DB, RV, Dogger, Hannah, DeCoster.

Easily Travis Pastrana and James Stewart immediately go to the tip top of that conversation.

I'm in this camp. From seeing him ride as a little kid to manualing the speed bumps at Daytona to a thousand other indelible memories. Most natural talent? Travis.

This is also a very good answer.

No I have never smoked crack.

I guess it depends on the resolution of the levels. It was a poor choice of words on my part to say on another level.

I think he was/is very very talented, but imo other riders like Whindam, Reynard and Stewart had more talent. They didn't have the same amount of aptitude in several other areas which us why Ricky dominated them and everyone else majority of the time.

Sorry I got you so riled up, was just trying to bench race.

I'd say Pastrana for pure talent, he could do pretty much anything.

Best of the rest

RC - His talent is often overlooked because he worked so hard but that guy ripped even as a chubby kid.
Everts - Made it look so easy and won consistently, that pass on the pegs around the outside of Stewart was awesome.
JMB - A magician
Stewart - Very fast and flashy, but the most talented rider ever wouldn't crash that often.
Herlings - Still relatively early days but when I saw him on a 250f in Thailand it looked like it was a man racing boys.
Tortelli - Bit of a wild card but that guy was hugely talented even though his results didn't match that talent sometimes.

Last I saw JS was covering him whilst riding a 250 2t while RC was on a 450. JS was on a completely different level to RC.
