Anybody that doesn't realize it's james by a landslide doesn't know shit about motocross!
I`ve been following MX and SX for the better part of 4 decades and I disagree. He is a bad dude, no doubt, but greatest ever, no!

Maybe I'm mistaken but I don't recall JS ever taking a title from RC.

Being 21 now, growing up I would have told you JS7 but I agree with others that if you are having to push so hard you crash all the time then you maybe have extra large testacles and he may have just been a very good pro rider talent wise. I think j-law would have been a good contender if not for his off track antics. I also heard he came down with ligma.

Definition of “MOST TALENTED BIKE RIDER EVER” ???

Talented only on a bike? Or + other forms of racing?

Racer X posted something about NASCAR 7 time champion Jimmie Johnson raced a PW50 at Lorettas in the back of the pack. Thats pretty impressive for a MXer!

Freddie was unbelievably talented! He pretty much crushed it in 1985.

from Wikipedia;

1985 proved to be a historic year for Spencer. He began the season by winning the prestigious season opening Daytona 200. Spencer also won the Formula 1 and 250cc classes, making him the only rider to win all three divisions in a single year.[1][7] Spencer also competed in both the 250cc and 500cc Grand Prix World Championships, winning both titles in the same year. That made him the fifth (& last) rider ever to win in the 500cc & the next class down and, due to class changes, the only rider to win in both 500cc & 250cc in one year. His career was cut short by wrist injuries that some believe were caused by the physical strain of competing in two championships during a single season.

If someone didn't know Russian Bobby was 125cc road racing Russian Champion in 2004. Not the most talented, but seems to me that dude gets well with every type of two wheel racing And there are story behined that CC. Bobby wanted to race MX, and the family were looking for sponsors to continue young man career. Finaly they get to talk with Yukos guys. They said, ok. If the young man wants to race, then we can support only road racing, because we alredy have a team, and not any interest in MX at all (all nice guys btw, met them tosens of times, before Yukos was overtaken by Putin), and then young Bobby didnt have any more choises in the table but take the deal, and regroup to the road racingSmile )
What happened after that we already know

TRAVIS PASTRANA.

End of conversation. Won at least one championship in SX and MX. Pioneered freestyle mx to a higher platform at a teen age. Won MXON. Holds multiple world records for freestyle related tricks (from the nitro circus episode). Can back flip almost any vehicle with wheels. First to do a double back flip, first to do a cork 720 and a double cork 1080 on a dirt bike. He just broke Evel's records on a street bike. Has had unbelievable whoop speed (only rivaled maybe by the Stewart bros.) I'm sure there is more, as I think he has completed the erzberg enduro at least once. That's just off the top of my head, and that's just on 2 wheels.
This and it ain't even close.

How about Barry Sheene?

Must watch dock. Dude was so nfg mode, that even didn't know when he must to race. It was all about coke and girls, and he was two-time world champ, winning consecutive 500cc titles in 1976 and 1977

J-Law would have been lapped at the party and the track by Dogger in his prime.

In my opinion Joel Robert would be right up there toward or at the top.

Interpreting the question as applying to all disciplines I have to go with Steve Wise, a winner in mx, road racing, flatrack tt and superbikes back when that was a thing. Looking at mx only its hard to pick just one guy, there's been so many great riders over the years, Bugsy is a class act and his record in several disciplines speaks for itself, Malcolm certainly epitomized the best of offroad and desert racing at the time,Jeff Smith, Joel R, Roger D, nuff said,Lackey, first American world champ,Larry Roesler, also ruled the desert, McGrath, the "king of sx",JMB killed it in mx and sx then didnt do so well on pavement, Hannah, reckless abandon, the Bomber, Liles, my homeboy, D Bradshaw, Wardy, Bailey,Magoo, Cooper, Smets, Everts multi time world champion, Pourcel super smooth and "crafty" came back from serious injury to win when told he wouldnt walk again much less race a dirtbike,RC, sheer determination, JS7, so much natural ability,KDub,Ryan V, Dungey, fastest B rider on the planet,Canard, injuries finally forced him out,the current crop, ET, Herlings, Musquin,Justin, finding his way on the fo -fity,I'm sure I left out someones fav,so many fast guys out there, they all make it look so easy but thas why they get the big $$....oh yeah, and moi...hehe Wink
