As someone already stated, if you assume all the contenders remain fairly healthy, I believe there will tons of competition. We know this will not happen, so it's anyone's guess. If you look at recent years and take consistency, no significant injuries, fairly consistent starts, etc. Dungey would be very hard to beat.

With that said, Roczen is still becoming more consistent and he does look great and incredibly fast on the Honda. If Tomac can get consistent top 5 or 6 starts, he has the speed to keep up. Musquin is getting better every year and he looked great at the MEC. Anderson and Sealy are also 2 more that have outside chances. I also feel Webb will contend for podiums and maybe a few wins, but not for a championship this year. Another huge sleeper if he can get back close to 100% Gajser. He looks incredibly good imo.

Roczen
Dungey
Tomac
Anderson
Musquin
Sealy
Gajser
Webb

Should be fun to watch.
Gajser isnt racing the 2017 SX series, thats in 2018...or so the rumor goes

Thanks. I wasn't sure. He is one talented guy though, so he will be a nice addition.

Hopefully they do something with the tracks this year so there isn't so much follow the leader. Give these guys really good dirt and keep the tracks wet so we can have good racing! As far as who will win.. who's going to stay healthy through the off season and then the series. I hope we are in for a good year of racing, but I'm not getting my hopes up.

Gonna have to say Roczen. But only because of starts, if Eli can get his starts figured out it could be him. If it's a crash fest and people get hurt (like they always do) Dung will take it.

Roczen
Dungey
Tomac

I think Roczen is going to run away with it. The only thing in my mind is how many he'll win and who will be the first to break his streak.

Roczen if he doesn't hurt himself. I'd love to see a 25 -24-23-22-20 etc points payout to keep the points chase tighter throughout the year as well...

I think dungey will run away with it . Anyone who think this championship is more than a 3 horse race is wishful thinking imo. Over the full lenght of the championship Dungey ,Kroc and Tomac are very far ahead of the rest

bit unfair to Dunge there , He was the fastest guy last year ,he did nt win because he outlasted anyone .Hell he even passed tomac on the last lap last wk , but yep,( he s not fast just consistent )

To me there is still no wiggle room going up against Dungey.

You have to beat him every damn week and never mess up... None of the other guys have proven they're perfect for 17 rounds... RV did it but Dungey is better now than he was then. It's not gonna be easy.

Hard to bet against Dungey, he won't finish outside the top 5, hard to say that Eli and Ken will do the same.

This.

As much as I'd love to see the Hombre or Tomac win it, no one's gonna have anything for Kenny. Something good happened to Roczen late in the SX series and he's been on a new JS7-in-'09-level ever since.

Tomac and roczen were hurt last year??

RD5 was both the fastest and most consistent last year.

2017 is a new year, but don't discredit the 2016 title.

Dungey is my pick for 17, with a tighter series than last year.

Dungey. He's too consistent. And I see Roczen not finishing a race or two.

He'll put some big name guy to the ground on his way through the pack on one of his wins too.

We say that every year! One or two of them will get hurt in pre-season testing and probably not even be ready for A1. Another two will get hurt before rnd 6 and will miss significant time. Looking at you Canard. Someone else will be out hurt by rnd 10. From there you can mail in the rest of the rounds.

I predict 2017 will the the most boring year yet of SX!!

You know the only reason why the 3rd race of the MEC was any good is because Eli got a bad start and we got to watch some actual racing. Until they start paying points in the qualifiers and then invert the start order for the main event then we are going to see another year of follow the leader. Too much importance is put on the start relegating the rest of the 20 laps uneventful in the 450 class.

/rant over
After reading this, paying points for qualifying races makes sense to me for the first time. What if... we keep the night program exactly the same as it is (no silly Chase format).

Here's the change: We award points to the riders who qualify directly to the main from the heat races. About half what you'd earn in a main event. We don't award any points to the riders who qualify from the semis and LCQ, but... They get the first fourteen picks of the gate in the main event. The riders who already earned points get to pick last.

Then award twice as many points in the main as you did in the heat races.

It doesn't make any sense to sandbag yourself into the semis just to get a good gate pick and a shot at the 25 points in the main, because Dungey is going to go 12pts/20 pts and beat you for the overall.

I see roczen having the most wins but I also see him having some poor finishes/dnf's. Dungey will do what he does best, the night's he its the fastest he will win, the other night's he maximises points putting himself in a good position for the championship.
I don't really care who wins, I just want to see everyone stay healthy and close racing

This place will melt down if none of the "Big Three" finish on the podium at A-1...it could happen. So until the season is almost over no one knows who's gonna win it. Let's just hope for good tight racing, with many good battles, everyone making it through healthy to the outdoor season and may the best man win.

1993 was 24 years ago and a rookie won, 2-4=-2. Since we can't deal in negative numbers we have to take the minus sign away leaving our answer of 2.

Rookie, if not the other Rookie who won, Dungey. All the clues are there, you just have to make them up.

Down to the wire between JLaw and Josh Hanson. Contingent on whether DDavis shows up or not.

I would like to say Roczen, but Dungey has proven me wrong more times that I can remember when picking champions.
