Daystar99 Added a reply to Öhlins kits: who has them?
8/10/2018 10:00am I bought a set of Öhlins dampers for my 2016 CRF450 and loved them. By far the best forks I've ever had. Admittedly I've never tried A-Kit or factory suspension but it's hard to imagine anything better. Going from possibly the worst modern forks ever (PS2) to the Öhlins may have slightly influenced me though.

Daystar99 Added a reply to Waht happened to Charboneau @ Trentino?
4/16/2017 3:51pm Thanks - my mistake. I assumed he was racing MX2.
Daystar99 Started a new thread Waht happened to Charboneau @ Trentino?
4/16/2017 3:19pm He doesn't show up in the results and definitely seemed to be on it in the "One Lap" video. I've searched pretty much everywhere. "WHAT happened..."

Daystar99 Added a reply to Japanese 450s
3/22/2017 4:56pm I also had a 2000 YZ426 and had a starting ritual that would work about 85% or 90% of the time. There were times, though, that starting that thing took more out of me than racing. That little decompression fly-weight on Honda's camshaft (which was genius) made a HUGE difference!
Daystar99 Added a reply to FMF 2017 Crf450R
3/7/2017 5:59pm This is what I also want to know. The dual exhaust is just dumb engineering - I think someone at Honda is just too proud to admit that the benefit, if any, isn't close to being worth four pounds and is doubling down on the idea. I've been calling everywhere and apparently no one is going to make a right-side-only...
Daystar99 Added a reply to Who do you think will be the next guy..
3/6/2017 12:22pm Am I mistaken or is the picture mirrored and Matt has two on the brake and the full four-finger-Skippy on the clutch?
Daystar99 Added a reply to 2016 CRF450R for the average Joe
1/1/2017 10:41am For what it's worth, I've had nearly every CRF450 from 2003 to 2016. I have a 2016 now and I have absolutely despised the PS2 forks, especially in sharp edged chop and braking / acceleration bumps. Factory Connection was able to make them a little better but only marginally less harsh. A friend of mine suggested replacing the internals with...
Daystar99 Added a reply to Who wins the 2017 450 SX Championship ?
10/18/2016 4:37pm This. As much as I'd love to see the Hombre or Tomac win it, no one's gonna have anything for Kenny. Something good happened to Roczen late in the SX series and he's been on a new JS7-in-'09-level ever since.
Daystar99 Added a reply to At what point would Roczen stay at Suzuki/RCH?
5/31/2016 1:20pm And neck brace sponsor from (I think) Alpine Stars to Atlas
Daystar99 Added a reply to Dumb question, but how to see how much gas in YZ250f gas tank?
10/12/2015 11:41am Simple - the DaystarMX.com Fuel Miser. Yamahas should come with one.
Daystar99 Added a reply to AZ vs FL vs NC vs TX for dirtbike riding?
9/3/2015 11:58am AZ is pretty thin on moto tracks in the summer - and as far racing goes, what races there are, are night races. We've been going to Socal pretty much every other week to race and that in a way is a good thing about AZ: you're only five or six hours from15-20 good SoCal tracks. As for AZ tracks...
Daystar99 Added a reply to 2015 CRF450r suspension
8/14/2015 2:51pm I have a '15 CRF450 and had my suspension done by Factory Connection. My main concern was also how bad it was in chop at the top of the stroke. I'm sure there's a lot of good suspension guys that can fix this but the FC guys came through pretty well for me.
Daystar99 Added a reply to I know this won't be straight forward but.....
7/18/2015 11:19am My opinion exactly. MX32 front works damn well in most conditions
Daystar99 Added a reply to Pod k8 vs cti2
7/6/2015 6:11pm I've been using Cti2's for about 10 years as well and have also been looking at new braces. I've tried on almost everything and I think that I'll stick with a new set of Cti's despite their cost and the almost criminally shitty straps and patella cups. NOTHING comes close to fitting as well and that does it for me...

Daystar99 Added a reply to 2016 yz450f
6/24/2015 12:20pm Really interested in hearing how it turns after you've been on some more tracks - Washougal dirt is so different than almost anywhere. The 25mm offset has me sort of scratching my head a little - most guys are running 20mm triple clamps with the '15's here so they must have moved the motor forward quite a bit or somehow...
Daystar99 Added a reply to KX350 two stroke
5/1/2015 10:09am I think (or at least hope) you're wrong on that. I'm a pretty committed 450 guy but if someone built a modern 350-400 2-stroke I would buy it in a heart beat. I completely don't give a shit about 2-stroke vs. 4-stroke squabbling but I do need to be able to roll out of a corner on the inside and...
Daystar99 Added a reply to I thought I blew up my 450...
4/23/2015 1:01pm I've got 75 hours on my '15 CRF450. With the 2016's still five months away, I'll have about 130 hours on it before I can get a new one at this rate. I'm playing four stroke roulette in my head here wondering if I risk it or spend the $800 or so on a new top end. I love four...

Daystar99 Added a reply to Roczen's painful meltdown
2/24/2015 10:19am This^^ - This sport has zero room for error. In fact error isn't even the right word - SX requires absolute precision with dozens of pertinent variables changing by the microsecond. I can't remember RV's exact words but it was something like "you're right on the edge of disaster, ALL the time". No meltdown here IMO- I would bet Kenny's...
