Hey guys. I currently live in Massachusetts and am really sick of long winters and limited places to ride.
I'm possibly looking to relocate to one of the 3 states this spring (Arizona, Florida, Texas or North Carolina ). Which state/area do you feel offers the best freeriding and MX track oprions?

no state tax, cheaper cost of living than AZ,
NC has a low cost of living, as low if not lower than FL, but there aren't even half as many tracks as FL. (hog heaven damned near makes it worth it, but he is hardly open anymore)
AZ is a cool place to live for every other reason than motocross.... but the cost of living is higher, and the track count is lower. you'd probably have the easiest time finding a job in AZ, although the cost of living is the highest of the 3. That's usually how it works.
Good luck with your move, hope you enjoy America's Wang. FL runs MX, CA just thinks it does.

I've visited Raleigh NC this past weekend to check it out and everywhere we went in NC had pretty much the same landscape. FL seemed the same way as well
I'd go for NC for the badass trail riding. There's a couple sand pits around that feel similar (not quite as good though) to the northeast pits and there's good tracks around as well if you move to the right spot.
And weather is nice as hell during the summer

Many others. There are a lot of private tracks and trails not listed as well. Head to Brushy Mtn or Brown mountain and youll be able to meet some people that have land and trails.
Seems like quite a few options for MX tracks in Durham/Raleigh area.
As for AZ, we have a handful of tracks in the valley and they are mostly fair and sometimes decent (ACP being the best) but there will never be one of those destination tracks here. Dirt just can't withstand the summer bake.

There is endless desert riding. It will take you a while to find the "spots" as not many people are willing to share the good stuff. I'll tell you this, there are places out here that you CANNOT beat after rain. So good.
Weather - Lots of people complain about the heat. Yes for 4 months it's freakin hot. If you want to ride during this time of year you're looking at leaving the house around 5am or riding weeknights at Canyon. The good news is there are 8 other months that are pretty dang good for riding.
AZ cost of living is pretty reasonable if you ask me. There are plenty of burbs with cheap homes and they tend to be closer to the tracks. TONS to do in this state and all pretty accessible: moto, desert riding, woods riding, snowboarding, MTB, hiking, lakes, rivers.
Never ridden or lived in NC or FL but there's my $0.02.

Dallas is hot (+100) during mid July to mid August and freeze warnings during January-February but places are still open. You can ride year round, just have to be smart during the summer.
North of Dallas is where all the money is going right now. Frisco, McKinney, Allen, The Colony, Plano, Little Elm. Urban sprawl around Dallas has made a lot of suburbs and communities so there are plenty of places to look for a job. Is anyone hiring? I can't answer that.
In and around Dallas the tracks I first think of are:
Oak Hill
Village Creek
Underground MX
Swan MX
Johnsonville
River Valley
Buffalo Creek
Burleson
Greenville
956 Facility
Badlands
Freestone is about halfway between Dallas and Houston
Lots of XC riding facilities also.
For MX, I drive to Dallas, or go to Desoto MX park in LA. Sometimes I will go to jumpstart mx in new salem, but he really needs a watering system.
There is a great off road series in the south central area called TORCS. That would be awesome to do if you have a job in Houston.
Florida is just too damn hot and humid for the normal moto guy and the tracks are just too spead out. The pros like it because they can build a facility and train in the heat. Not that the carolinas are cold but nothing like FL. and you can still get a taste of the seasons and you've got a ton of variety between the mountains and coast only being a few hours apart. Go to South Florida and its an 8 hour drive just to leave the state.
I'm from Tampa area and live in Austn tx.
Ummm Texas WAY better in every aspect, except moto, less riding areas than Florida. Dade City and Bithlo, way better Saturday night racing than any where else in the country
