You guys defending James are pretty much saying, James can take whatever line he likes on the track regardless of the situation, Ok but when you are not racing for position with anyone close getting lapped there's this thing in racing called respect and James should have respected the battle for the lead which he was not in (especially considering it was in the dying stages of the main) but he clearly did not.

For those saying Marvin cased on his own
The yellow line was the line he was using for 19 laps to go 3 2 then up into the dragons back and out into the sand which was faster (just) than Dungey's 3 3 up the dragons..
The white line was the line he had to take cause the yellow was too close to Stewart, he got a heap of wheel spin and cased.. Had Stewart not been where he was (in the way of the leaders) Marvin could've used the line he used for 19 laps and not cased

Yep exactly and have not needed to see a replay of what happened, it was far too obvious watching live. Stewart's whoop speed and positioning in the following 180 turn right in front of the leaders was lame.

Before the entire rhythm section unfolded and JS was in front of Marvin I noticed he was still racing at a pretty fast pace and not really attempting to concede to the leaders. He definitely could have made it much easier for the leaders to get around him earlier, as Marvin tweeted.

I am on the same page as you guys. But also....I think James was doing his best to keep from getting lapped. He did hold his lines clean but should have backed off the throttle on the start stretch or a little through the whoops to give them plenty of space. He had blue flags i guess coming out of the corner leading to the start strait.

It's a shame the way things happen....but you know what? We still have plenty of racing left. And Marvin will get his win!

Just went back and watched it again.

Weimer pulled over.

Canard pulled over.

Friese pulled over.

James, who was right ahead of Weimer, Canard, and Friese, clearly gets the blue flag, at the earliest, on the 2nd to last lap.

Congrats James. Fuck off. Such a stupid move. Like Marvin Tweeted, he should have moved over or slowed down before the finish way before Marvin was forced to the mistake.

He sure has a hard on for him that's for sure! it's time DV STFU & stop being so fucking bitter. You didn't win any titles bud, get over it! Was talking shit about BB4,Davalos & Martin on pulp other day. Who gives a shit if he has spent 11 years racing 250fs? Dude is making a good living.
How you gonna bag on Herlings for riding 250's another year in a thread and then be cool with Davalos riding em for 11 years?

Douchebag!

That pic in weege's race day feed of Musquin far right , Stewart is actually far left. It happened in front of us at the race some I'll have to watch it on the DVR to fully review but based on the pic by Cudby in the racer x race feed article it didn't look like Stewart was in the way , i so wished I would have saw the move clearly in real time to have a better idea. BTW none of the players are favored by me.
It's the fifth picture down here :http://racerxonline.com/2016/02/27/race-day-feed-atlanta

Stewart had received multiple blue flags by the time Marvin made the mistake. The start straight was the perfect opportunity to pull out of the way. He didn't do it. Stewart is in the wrong here and that's all there is to it.
Completely agree, never thought I would say this, but I wish he would retire.... He looks like Michael Jordan on the Wizzards.... Or Ken Shamrock last week.

Every rider out there has made more than one on-track mistake in their careers and Stewart is no exception. What's sad is that when Stewart makes a mistake, the haters jump all over it and blow up the boards with pages of nonsense.

I had him around 6th, Ill admit obviously I was wrong. This is the only time in my life I can remember JS7 getting lapped without him going down first. Not a good night in one aspect, BUT I see alot of positives to it as well. He finished the race and looked much smoother than in SD i think it was where he was under and over jumping pretty much everything then pulled off. All you guys saying he is done washed up and needs to retire ... I just dont see that theory, he will get back to the top if he wants it bad enough. The man in more than capable

I dont think hes washed up or needs to retire necessarily. I just though it it was a little hopeful to put him top 5 when the competition is as stiff as it is and hes been out with an injury for a bunch of rounds, doesnt have any momentum in his corner, and isnt in race shape.

I think the year off really killed his mojo for racing and training.

Marvin summed up my thoughts about the whole deal pretty good in that interview with Matthes. James had nothing to do with Marvin casing that triple, but he should have made getting past him easier by letting of the gas a bit or getting out of the way a earlier. Yeah you should hold your line etc but you should also let of the gas enough so that the leaders get by easily. I believe everyone writing on here has been in the situation in a race or practice where getting by a slower guy or a lapper is a pain in the ass because he is not letting of the gas even if his not in your line. James has lapped so many people in his life he should know better than what he showed yesterday.

I just feel like James shoulda backed it down in the whoops and hugged the inside tight and then continued on after those guys went by. When James whopped that triple he took his lap back for a small period of time.

James held his line. Plain and simple. Yes, he was a bit in the way but you're not supposed to just stop. Screw Frankie for acting like that. That was childish. First SX race James completed in over a year. I don't expect him to roll around like Jeff Alessi when leaders come by. He held his line but kept racing. I don't see the problem. It was unfortunate for Marv and I hate it but, as usual, people are making a big deal of it cause it is the number 7.

Anderson constantly takes people out, Trey is super aggressive and also takes people out quite a bit but all people want to do is bag on James.

Friggin' ridiculous.

For what it's worth
I was at the race and sitting on the section opposite the side where the "incident" happened.
James was getting the blue flag from that section on, pretty much for an entire lap and he looked like he was trying to stay ahead of the battle and not get lapped.

Thats interesting - without being in the stadium I don't think anyone watching TV can claim to know the full picture.

stew held his line, he didn't interfere with the race at all, held his line, moose screwed up the rythem section on his own, funny thing is stew actually would of helped him if he didn't screw up the rythem by blocking the inside which would of gave dungey no where to go. no one fault
2/28/2016 4:57am
If the roles were reversed and it cost James the win, can you imagine the comments? Glad he finished the race, hopefully he gets back on pace!

Come on Flatout, take off the fanboy hat. When was the last time you saw a lapper racing a leader on the last lap ? Holding your line is not the standard for getting lapped, and you know it. You get the hell out of thier way. He didnt even try. He was in the way . It was classless. You know why Stewart gets called out a lot for doing stupid shit? Stewart does a lot of stupid shit.

There you go.. It wasn't about that one turn, it was about the whole lap before.. Classless.. Canard and everyone one else was professional.. Giving courtesy to guys that will give it back to you when the time comes.
2/28/2016 5:22am
Wow, really am surprised at how many people are saying James had nothing to do with the crash. You can see plain as day how wide Marvin had to go to get around him and how much room James had on the inside to move out of the way. Any other lapper would have got out of the way and you can't blame Marvin for expecting the blue flags to be adhered to. Sorry but you guys are delusional if you think Marvin messed up all on his own.
