2004 YZ250F. The thing wouldn't turn under power, took at least 10 kicks to start, every time, and it seems like they added weight just because they could.

It also had this really weird, thumpy-feeling power, like the spark plug was only working half the time or something....

I don't see why everyone thinks Yamaha has such good suspension. I now have a kx450 and in my opinion it's stock suspension makes the yamaha look dumb.
You have to be joking right? Kawasaki having better suspension over yamaha hahaha!!! 01-08 over 14 LMFAO!!!!!!! Thank you very much I needed that laugh....

You clearly missed the bit where he said "in my opinion".

My most disappointing purchase was the Stomp grip tape. Absolutely useless. The stuff fell off after 2mins of riding.

Two come to mind.

1986 Suzuki RM125. That thing wouldn't outrun its own shadow. Suspension was good, but how bad can it be when I can push it faster than it will run. Which brings me to No. 2. PSI engine porting and pipe for said bike. $400 and the bike was no different at all. It was a pretty pipe though. Saddest part is I rode a friends bone stock '86 CR125 and it ran like a 250 compared to my modded RM.

Another more recent bad purchase: Scott 360 MX boots. Took all of two hours for my foot pegs to chew their way 90% of the way through my soles. Horrible boot.

As far as suspension work goes, I'm a believer except for one company. I've has great results from White Bros., Race Tech, and local tuner JDPerformance.
The most surprising thing here – this bike was only brought up once? Motor-wise, this had to be the biggest production whiff in 125 history.

2013 crf450, Literally gave it to my brother after spending 2K in suspension/chassis setup. Went and bought another KTM 2 stroke.

After buying an 84 YZ 125, and being EXTREMELY disappointed, my dumbass thought there is no way Yamaha could F this up two years in a row. Good lord, the 85 sucked as much if not worse. 84 & 85 YZ 125's were pathetic!

I tried a PSI pipe, porting, nothing helped. BTW the PSI pipe sucked. Showed up rusty, didn't line up with mounts, and was dented out of the box!

I rode an 85 KX, and couldn't believe how much more power it had.

1983 xr350. Had a 90 day warranty, at day 89 the engine blew up. Took honda 2 months to fix it. I had to get towed in by a Maico when the engine let loose.

I didn't get a chance to read all the thread but did anyone say grip glue? OMG, that little tube of shit they would always sell on the counter that wouldn't cure until the next moon phase. Worst moto product ever.

2007 RMZ 450. Biggest piece of shit I have ever ridden. Heavy, slow, 4 gears.

I put more money into it trying to keep it running then I bought it for. The last time I took it to a mechanic I asked what needed to be done, he said, and I quote.. "fill up the gas tank, hang a rag out of it, and light the fucker on fire"

Man... So many '97 CR250 haters. To this day I still ride the '98 CR125. It uses the same frame as the '97 CR250 but it has a really underpowered 125 engine. The bike is slow, doesn't turn at all but simply doesn't break down. The bike is 17 years old now and I never had any major problems with it.

Honestly the Forks were just terrible.

After riding a 12 model and jumping back to my 13, I was like fuck this. Loaded it up, didnt even wash it...Took it to my brothers and dropped it off, and was riding my new 300 XC that day lol

Had a 2011 Honda 450 and it was easily the worst bike I've owned. Sold it, Bought a YZ250 that I've still got and still love, best choice I made that entire season. Last new Honda I'll buy until I ride something from them that is light years better; which sucks because I always loved them before.

Berik boots, worst pieces of shit I ever bought.

A very close second would be my '97 CR250R, only slightly less shitty than Berik boots.

Any suspension work. This idea that people can just know your height, weight and skill level to create a decent suspension setup for you is complete bull. Every single time, I would have been better off just riding a stock setup than thinking a tech could magically make it better by filling out a form, sending in the parts, and paying the bill.

I've had suspension work done by many people, major companies (who I won't name,) and it has always been shit. This goes for dirt bikes, roadracing, and dirt track. The roadracing part if it really was the end of the deal. I told them my strong point was braking, and I got a bike that you couldn't even touch the front brake without it getting all sketchy and nervous.
Hiring the wood_109 to help me set up my suspension was really a waste of money: he doesn't have a clue about it.

I would take my 08 Yz450 over that 14 any day. I loved that bike. But that 14 was the most uncomfortable I have been on any bike. The only fun I ever had with that bike was trading it in lol

I hated the suspension on that bike. So I sent it to factory connection. Still hated it.

I have heard this before and I experienced it before myself. It is a shame that there are so many guys out there doing suspension that don't have enough knowledge and experience and they don't have the right test riders to work with to develop the right valving.

A HUGE problem for dirt bikes is the rider claiming he is an Expert but the reality is he's not. He receives his suspension and it's too stiff and he hates it!

You will see post after post "Which suspension guy should I use?" and everyone chimes in that their guy is the best. It's more confusing today who to choose than it ever was but the bottom line is if you find the guy that has in depth knowledge and history working with suspension and works with good test riders of varying skill levels that know how to communicate what is working and what is not working then you will see great results!

Like you I have had bad suspension work done by a couple of the name brand companies and OK results by others. I finally found THE guy for me and I will say the results are amazing over stock so keep looking... there are a FEW of them out there!

My guess is you were mixing your oil too rich and it was probably fouling up the spark plug so it only fired half the time. I found when I just ran straight gas instead of pre-mix in my 04 YZ250F it ran much better Smile (LOL....nice post !!)
