That is called seat bouncing and it is only necessary in certain situations. If you do it over all jumps you are going to lose a lot of time because you are spending a lot of unnecessary time in the air.

1) find a big cliff and point front of bike in said direction
2) twist throttle back as far as it can go
3) dump clutch
4) hold on
5) enjoy!

The most important thing to remember is that as you're going up the jump face , make sure to get your weight back, lean back and give it a good bit of throttle. It'll give you a bit more air, and it looks cool, too.

Also, the proper stance is to have your elbows way up (you've probably read about this), and your rear as far back and up as possible, so that your chin is almost touching the crossbar pad. Think Davi Millsaps.

Lastly, be prepared to turn the bars to the left or right (or both) while you're in the air. This creates a gyroscopic effect which helps stablize the bike.

At all times your elbows should be in contact with your chest protector.

You have it correct but get back on the seat ASAP for less wind resistance. Sit in the seat as much as you can it will save you precious energy & you won't need to drink a MONSTER drink before a moto.

You can thank me later.
