Suzuki stators of that era were notorious for shorting out when hot, I always brought a good backup after mine shorted out mid moto... another thing to check is the coil wire to the spark plug cap, the wires get old and brittle.

As long as it's not impeding coolant flow, I think you're fine

The easiest way to find out is to cross reference the part Numbers, with that said, I installed a set of 2006 YZ250F forks on my 2002 YZ250. The 250F triples are the same as the YZ125 triples, and the 450F triples are the same as the YZ250 triples, The steering stem is shorter on the 125/250F, than the 250/450F

The S model was a kit as I remember, Then was Standard equipment on mid year 1975 RM125's

It's been awhile since I've posted.....Added 16.5 Ohlins remote reservior Shocks, modified & rebuilt by Clark Jones of Noleen, acquired a DG Performance radial high compression head, and a Jemco RM factory spec pipe & silencer. Attempted to install a Keihin Flatslide pwk 34mm, but the floatbowl would not clear the cases, but I did find a little fix...

They look really, really good at 1st glance....then when I looked closer....noticed little things like missing parts, wrong routing of cables, etc...

I run a set of 2007 SSS Front forks & Rear shock on my 2002 YZ250....Works great......Running 2007 YZ450F triple clamps with no modifications needed for the front wheel.

ET3 dominated today, Hannah massacred them in 78...I think is was less than 20 feet at the finish between Hannah & Howerton in the 1st moto ....I was standing at the finish line.

Motor wise, the biggest difference between the 79 & 80 motor is the crank....Suzuki went with a heavier crank in 1980...I haven't broken in the motor yet, but I'm going to see how much of a difference the mods make.....I have (2) each of the 79 & 80 motors, so will see.

Here's a little trick: 1. Install a 0.5 head gasket (p/n# 11141-40701)..Stock is 1.0 2. Install (2) cylinder base gaskets (p/n#11241-40200) 3. Rotate magneto stator plate counterclock-wise 2.mm (0.079 in.). This retards ignition 2 degrees 4. Install a 14 tooth countershaft sprocket . 5. Add a 34mm carb

I had a similar problem...Thought it was electrical, turn out to be the carb....Installed a new one...problem solved.
