Only $10 for all 2024 SX, MX, and SMX series (regularly $30).
These days it's the Surron...
I doubt it’s a 2022-2024 Honda CRF250R !!!
On a serious note, I’d guess an electric start YZ250F, 2019 to current or when ever thay got, electric start.
I’m wondering about 2024 and 2025 models. Is the CR close to the YZ in sales? Does the masterful salesman, Hunter, change that? Is Austria anywhere close in sales?
I’d guess ktm350 in my neck of the woods.
The Shop
In a thread a couple of years ago someone had the numbers and the yz250f, not sure if that includes the fx, was the highest selling competition model.
Local tracks show KTM, Yamaha, and Hondas. Some Kawis and Huskys and gas gas.
Owned or popular.
US or world?
Just mx right?
YZ 125 usa 🇺🇸 number one!!!
Lotta people jumping to kawi in our neck of the woods. Best paying contingency at the moment, rebates, and good financing rates are the biggest reason. Money talks. Especially in the current economic climate.
Speaking of, any idea when Kawasaki announces 2025 contingency payout?
I spoke to my Kawasaki rep about it the other day and I think it is close. I also told him Kawi needs to make a push with contingency on more local tracks too. Especially with the Gasgas and Husky.
as a whole, its gotta be the Yamaha YZ line
CRF50
I bet it is the YZ 250.
this weekend it was the KX450, tons of them on the track
What’s the payout for a win on Kawi at local races? Can’t you only get paid for like 2 classes?
Also several local series in Florida only offer ktm, no other brands.
Ktm is $150 and can get as many classes as you want. My kid has gotten $750 in one night with ktm at local races in 5 classes
PW50 by total sales since release!
KLX110 and CRF110 annual sales are higher than any full sized bike's annual sales.
$200 per win. Not sure on the number of classes. We also get GG (ktm) contingency. While we use it for parts and new bikes it’d be nice to have a debit card like other manufacturers so maybe once and a while we could swipe it for gas to get to the races ha. 5 classes in one night? That’s nuts
Pit Row
I’m currently collecting $250 for first, $150 for second, and $100 for 3rd in +50B in my local MX series.
Over the past 12 months, the best selling motocross bikes in the US are YZ250Fs. More than all 3 Austrian brand 250s MXers combined, as a matter of fact.
That ain’t bad.
Ya, on ktm/gas gas/husky you can’t spend it outside of a dealer. Basically cash to me though, since I can use it on bikes. Bought 3 new bikes the past month, one I completely bought with contingency.
I would guess the YZ250F. In Ohio and PA I feel like it's overwhelming how many Yamahas are around. Honda's 450 seems to be popular and of course the KTMs. But I would say YZ250F, even though I have no data to back it up. Just an educated guess.
Its gotta be a 22-24 YZ250F. They fill half the gate in almost every local race here..
Just curious where your information comes from?
If you are going by industry sales in the past 12 months, here is the rundown in the comp segment:
YZ250F
YZ450F
300XCW
Motorcycle Industry Council (MIC)
Wait....do you mean "currently" or overall in the history of motocross? Of all time: Its gotta be a YZ250.
Up until the past couple of years I was doing 1 or 2 KTM's for every 1 other brand bike I did graphics for. One year half of the graphics we did were KTM and the other half was made up of the other brands. Recently Yamaha and Kawasaki have been growing . Honda has been about the same as its been. More Stark Vargs than RMZ's .
Since KTM's use the same bodywork across all of their big bikes its hard to say what size or exact model was the most popular.
After KTM purchased Husky and Gasgas I started to see less KTM's but overall its hard to say if the total increased or decreased because I also moved my shop around that time. The 2013-15 KTM is probably the body style we have done the most graphic kits for. With so many plastic colors being available for KTM's we have done tons of different color combos. Lots of white KTM's , Black, neon orange. The bikes seemed to be so popular that people wanted to make them not look like KTM's so they would be different from everybody.
Why?
I’ve read it’s the KTM 350. This may have changed of course. I would guess the YZ250 would up there too.
