Wow....
Im a Deegan fan. As a parent of a special needs child I was disappointed. People makes mistake. Hate hearing the word used but in the same breath would hate for her to get bashed repeatedly. Life goes on!
Seriously needs to
Be an article about that though? Our society is going too far. Has gone too far*
Working in the school system it is just a word we don’t use anymore. Developmentally delayed or cognitive disability are the most often used terms used now. I don’t think what she said is the end of the world, but when your are in the spotlight people seem to hold you to a higher standard.
Take it to the limit, one more time!

Yeah.... pretty retar.... errrr, stupid there are articles about it on multiple national news sites

Washed up moto and enduro weekend warrior.
The article is vague, but it seems like she wasn’t calling someone disabled by that word?
I 100% agree calling someone disabled that is completely wrong, but I didn’t realise the word itself was so offensive.
Didnt blackeye peas or someone use that word in a hit song?

I know when I'm looking for advice on being courteous to others, Black Eyed Peas lyrics are my first resource for words that are considerate of others.
If you raced Iracing you would know there are plenty of the R word types around you at any moment. If I get canceled for using douche bag while Iracing i will kindly retire from the internets.

I'm with you. I have a younger sister with Down's Syndrome and I don' like hearing the word used in certain ways. Sometimes I say something, sometimes I don't. Mostly people are very understanding once they know your experience. I'm sure I've said stupid shit that I didn't realize was offensive to some. But yeah, life goes on...

...but can white people use the “R” word with their friends as a light hearted jab, like black folks use the N word on their friends?
And is the word “idiot” still ok?
I just ask my friends who do dumb things if they are on the spectrum...
Cut the 19 yr old girl a break. Remember the scene in Rocky. Where the small time mod guy says, hey Rock I hear your going out with Pauly,s sister. The other muscle in the car says, hey Rock you should take her too the zoo. I hear r———- like the zoo. One of the biggest movies ever. I helped out with the special needs people at the ymca, with basketball and kick ball games. Very fun , they really appreciate someone helping them make a basket or dribble.
With how nuts everyone is it's surprising she's getting in trouble over saying retard, and not for just being a trump fan.

I had to do a search for "r word" to find out, and it sent me to an article about another nascar driver that used the same word, but actually quoted it.
No sweat, I see nascar is going to require Hallie to take sensitivity training, so everything will be ok.
I am still trying to find out why a horse trainer in new York got suspended for the racist act of naming a horse "grape soda" though.
Until I find out, grapeape may have reason for concern

Any school facility that uses "Developmentally Delayed" as a term is retarded.
As long as its not the word ending in a hard R
