Slightly off topic but I was just listening to Neil Peart's audiobook of "Traveling Roadshow, Landscape With Drums" and he gives a very nice description of what it's like to visit Isle of Mann, although it wasn't during the race. He said he took the ferry and the place is very colorful and cool.

From an expert end-user of weather reports and charts and radar etc..... don't worry about the local area, be EXTREMELY cognizant of areas upstream of where you'll be, in the catchment areas of the canyons. I haven't seen the news about the GC floods, but I'll bet a case of PBR it was clear skies overhead. Monsoon rains 100 miles away upstream >> flash floods downstream. AZ monsoon has been heavy this summer, first time in 3 or 4 years. Not sure how far nortth that extends. Keep a close eye on RADAR MAPS of upstream areas. Don't trust TV...

Thanks for the heads up !! We know to keep an eye one the weather upstream more than local, but I wasn't thinking 100 miles upstream. It makes sense. We have other options for entertainment if there's even a slight possibility. I've been there before, it wouldn't take that much water to get scary quick. As you guys know it's not a very wide canyon. We're staying in a hotel with a pool in Kanab. We'll have the grandkids, e-bikes, 4x4's and swimming suits. Might check out Bryce canyon and the sand dunes depending on how things go.
