Steve hit the nail on the head. All the we have to have a hot chick talking and trying to convince everyone to have a "good time" at Supercross, stupid tweets, trying to convince everyone to buy a ticket, showing bikes in living rooms, etc. Stupid shit.

Like Steve said. Treat it like a sport not a show.

Great rant, Steve. Travis, please forward this sound file to the producers at Supercross.

Absolute gold and 100% gospel.
Ok SX is not the NFL, period. SX fans are not the same type of fans that the NFL draws. There is much more down time in a SX night of racing than there is in an NFL/NBA game. They have TV time outs, injury time outs and half time, that's it. There are lot's to talk about during halftime, there are multiple teams and personalities to talk about. Hell how many sports talk shows are on radio and cable TV, that talk about nothing but NFL/NBA/MLB non stop 24/7-365. SX has all kinds of dead air and they have to fill it in somehow. Do you really want Jeff and Fro to blabber on during all that down time? There aren't enough top guys/Teams to fill in all the down time during a race night.

So you get a hot chick showing some cleavage looking at social media stuff and that is whats wrong with the sport of SX? I hardly think so.

SX is a niche sport that doesn't appeal to everyone, it never will. Is SX really considered by most people as a sport more so than a show? I don't know if it is or not but if you want to make it more of a sport you have to show that they are athletes more than you show that they are daredevils. Dungey/Tomac are every bit the athlete that Lebron James is but who knows that besides hard core fans?

the whole broadcast is pretty lame. the way they try to educate the viewer EVERY FUCKING WEEK to what supercross is and how it works. it's lame. Ralph and Jeff don't get off the hook that easily.
But how exactly do tear-offs work, bro?

We are a niche sport and will only grow viewership with attracting outside non-riders. The more chatter on twitter, insta, FB etc etc the better for everyone.
Makeup to mud is an epic fail that missed the mark by miles.. Here we have a girl that looks 16 tops with a 5 year old kid and no dad in the picture.
Inspire to buy a motorcycle because your parents bought it for you while you're on welfare............NOT.

Or some chick that obviously has some serious issues, covered with tats, has a kid or 3, and again, No dad in the Picture.

Do they even watch their own shows? UFC would never put out some shit like this. Quite the opposite.

Not a chance in hell there is more pure downtime during an SX, not only that but there is also a hell of a lot more UPtime. Just the 450 main (now that it's a timed event) has more actual competition time than your average NFL/MLB game. NFL takes 2.5-3 hours to play a game. Actual time spent moving is under 20 minutes. 95% of football is standing around scratching your nuts waiting for the next 8 second play lol.

I think they need to shorten the show up and maybe not broadcast them live. The 1 hour show back in 1990 was way better and just had highlights of the heats, semis and lcq and then both 125 & 250 mains. You got all the racing and hardly any of the yucking it up between the goofy hosts. I don’t care if it’s live...just need the racing and none of the lifestyle stuff.

I DVR the show, wait an hour to start watching and then only watch from the gate drop to the checkered flag. Then fast forward to the next gate drop. It usually works out that I watch the main live. I pretty much tune out the announcers and watch the race as I want to see it. I don't need anyone to tell me what I'm watching, therefor I don't really listen.

I could see where young people might like all the fluff and sidewhows, it's just not for me. Idiots sitting in their living rooms on their bikes in full gear make me a little ashamed that I'm part of this sport. It's just not for me.

You want a change that adds excitement? Qualifiers/semis pay half the points based on time. This gives incentive to be fastest. For the mains...the bottom half of the qualifiers leave the gate 30 seconds before the top 10/12. (Instead of two rows...just half the gate drops at a time). Winner of the mains gets the other half of the points. Crazy...probably. Exciting...oh yeah.

You want less coverage and no live coverage. Gotcha. Makes a lot of sense.

Oh hell to the F*#king NO!!! Those Canadians are horrible!!!

You can please some of the people, ALL the time and you can please all the people, SOME of the time.
But you will NEVER be able to please ALL the people, ALL of the time !!

Most forget that SX races weren’t even televised back in the day. We were lucky to see Wide World of Sports Coverage of the Super Bowl of Motocross.

This sport of SX/ MX is lucky to even have ANY Live coverage at all. It’s come a long way, try to enjoy it for what it is.,,

Yep, less of the “show” and just the racing. You can show both heat races and both mains and just some highlights of the simis & lcq in a 1 hour program. I don’t really need to see the entire semi or lcq....just who transferred and maybe some good racing action if there was any. I’ve been recording and rewatching all things Moto since the 80’s and I think the longer format sucks big time. I still watch every race but just fast forward over the talking.

Then why is it nearly everyone would take the presentation we used to have back in ESPN days then? Post produced or not. It is the exact same sport done in a much better way. And no, I'm not talking the commentators. I'm talking about the content. And yes, it was treated like a sport because it was on ESPN. Same athletes. Worked then.

Yeah, I def want the live action to stay. I just want the in between content to be good and not where we feel like we need to skip stuff. I don't think that's too much to ask for.

Like the College GameDay thing Weege did during MXDN. Something like thst...with some decent guests... would be great.

I don't necessarily expect them to please diehard freaks like us but my Wife, who Is as casual as they get to all sports, popped in one night and watched a bit and I remember her saying... "that twitter crap with the babies and constant pics of bikes in living rooms makes your sport seem real stupid". I didn't have much of a rebuttal. Sad So, I'm not sure who it appeals to.

I just like what Steve said and wish it was better.

Outside sponsorships. Big time tv time.
And people that ride again. I think no hope for sport though. People that sue started the local demise. Sport just survives off past riders.

More hot chicks with less clothing and I will stop fast forwarding between the racing. The holier than thou crew can fast forward instead of me for a change.

All I know is that I get SX every Saturday night for a 3 hour live show. It is not a perfect broadcast-shit I have to listen to Terry Bradshaw on Thursday night football....but whatever, I don't let it ruin the game for Pete's sake. Ralph and Jeff, meh..they try hard and generally speaking I like them-the telecast does have to have some introductory SX lessons to each show for obvious reasons. I would like to see more in depth rider profiles every show. They are trying to make it better every season in some form or fashion and I'm sure there is a boatload of work going on in the background to make for a better broadcast. When you think of the monumental effort required to put this show on 17 out of 18 weekends, well, I'm going to shut up, enjoy the broadcast, and be thankful that I am not waiting 6 months for Wide World of Sports to show the USGP at Carlsbad.

I like Carmichael on the show. Give him a couple beers and turn him loose on the track with a microphone. Have him run all around the track and try and talk to Ralph and Jeff up in the booth. Pure classic TV. F.T.B.

More Carmichael = more people outside the sport watching. They can relate to him. Son, "Dang Daddy. Tv man says that little guy running around the track is the best rider ever". Dad, "And he dont look to different from you son. Maybe we'll get you one of them two wheelers". Son, "Let's tune in and watch Daddy". Dad, "Ok Son, go get your Sistermom and bring me a beer". Son, "I wanta see bikes kick dirt".
