I want to find out what happened? Mike was always super fit. in the early 90's I race a mountain bike race in the Whitter hills area and Mike blew past me on a steep downhill. I was shocked at how fast he went. He went to Lakewood High school, I went to Gahr. We both lived in and grew up in Lakewood. He was a year ahead in school. The high school mx series was coming to an end. Liability and such. I was riding beaters, he always had real race bikes. I remembering at one night race seeing him haul ass, I was riding my old Kawi 238 green streak in the 250 class. The clutch let go. I think it was at OCR. Mike was a good guy, very friendly. Scary that he's gone. R.I.P. brother.

Wow, sad day for me. Mike Bell will always be in my heart. As a kid, he won the LA Coliseum race, it was 1982 and it was my first supercross ever... hooked me on the sport I love for the past 39 years. RIP Mike.

He had a heart attack while riding his mountain bike today. Absolutely gutted... Mike was the sweetest, most genuine guy I know. We lost an amazing human today.

So Sad. He was fast, stylish, yet subdued. Just watched some old youtube videos a few weeks ago and he could put his works Yamaha wherever he wanted on a rough track.

RIP "Too Tall"

What a shame. A fit guy that has a heart attack. There are some things just wrong in this world.

Goes to show that no matter your habits, healthy or not, when it’s your time it’s your time. RIP Too tall

Godspeed Mike. One of my childhood heroes. Got to meet him at the VMXDN at Farleigh Castle, a real genuine guy, no airs or graces, so easy to chat with.
Hope him and Marty are having a good bench racing session up in heaven.❤

I remember in about 03, I had this brilliant idea to throw a big after-party for the US Open at MGM

I rented the entire 2nd floor of the ESPNZone at NYNY across the street. Man, we were packed, even had an open bar. So I have some help at the door and I get called up front, and it's Mike Bell asking to come in (He didn't RSVP)
Now I had only started the business a couple years earlier, I was a nobody, still am, It was like one of the few times I became star struck. He was an idol of mine since a kid. We still have photos of him having to one-leg McCoy's Mountain at St Pete because he was so tall.

Of course I let him into the party and he had a good time. He was very polite, he didn't act entitled, even offered to pay that night (I comp'd him, of course).

Was nice to me, was a good man

RIP
