5/20/2024 5:59am This^^^^^ I have a 24 yz also and just bought a 24 kx450 and experiencing the same thing. I’ve been a Kawi guy for a bit but after getting hurt and sidelined for awhile I decided to buy a yz. I was always chasing comfort & never felt 100% on it. Minus weighing 240lb and killing the stock suspension the Kawi feels great. Have PC exhaust coming and I hope that helps with the power.

5/19/2024 10:11pm I'm 180cm, 90-95kg and vet B speed (Australia). I kept going more mellow on yz aswell, but I actually ended up most comfortable when I went to 13/52 gearing with more aggressive mapping and running 3rd gear in corners. But ultimately was still never fully happy with it. The new Kx is definitely the best 450 I have ever owned...

5/19/2024 9:56pm If you are swapping from the completely stock exhaust you will notice a huge difference. I've also gone up a tooth on the rear and I never use 2nd gear, 3rd, 4th everywhere.

5/19/2024 7:31pm The yz was a good bike, good suspension and crazy motor (too much for me when track was rough). But after 30hrs on it I just got sick of constantly chasing setup, some days on some tracks it was awesome and then the next time it was horrible. I felt I could get a good suspension setting but was always...

5/19/2024 5:16pm I came from a 23 yamy 450 to the kx and also have a 23 350sxf with kyb forks. I love the kyb feel, very plush up top but still with good bottoming resistance. After my second revalve on the kx forks I will say I am very happy with them. Still not quite the plushness of the kybs but...

5/19/2024 4:53pm I know you said it was between modding your 22 350 or a 24 kx450 but I would highly consider a 23+ 350. They are significantly better off the bottom than the earlier models. With almost 30hrs on each now I am slowly leaning more towards the 350 side. Both bikes are awesome but I just find everything a little...

5/19/2024 4:43pm Yeah blows the 350 away was probably the wrong wording. I'd say it is significantly stronger through the meat of the power and the torque feeling is obviously alot better on the kx. Off the initial crack of the throttle there isn't alot in it, the 350 has very lively quick revving feel compared to the kx. I am comparing...

5/17/2024 9:50pm This is where the app is definitely not as good as the yamaha one. The map will get sent to whichever map you have selected on the map switch, I haven't seen anywhere in the app that it will actually tell you which map it is. The way I check if it is loaded is when the bike is running...

5/16/2024 4:23pm Well I know guys who have just one bike and puts ton of wear on that one bike. Heck if you eventually do 2 top ends on one bike that is about $4,000. Right? About half the price of a bike in just top ends. That’s not including other wear parts. In the long run with 2 bikes I feel you can just about spend close to less of maintenance cost. Even less tires. And if one bike do break you always have a spare. if you are trying to become a pro racer you have a point on getting...

5/14/2024 4:07pm That is a good point. I just wonder if keeping both and swapping back and forth is really doing me any good. Maybe I'm better off just having one and getting completely comfortable with it. It's a tough life when this is the stuff that keeps me up at night 🤣🤣🤣

5/13/2024 9:27pm I'm guessing you've opened up the airbox and exhaust already? That's where biggest gains will be made on this bike. You will find very little gains with the kx app. By all means try a few maps but if you want anything significant it won't be had with the stock ecu.

5/13/2024 6:38am Yeah i had a 23 300sx but just didn't gel with it on mx tracks, was great in the bush but hardly ride any of that. I'm finding my lap times are almost identical on the 350 and the kx on all track types. I can just ride longer on the 350 but I do love the extra torque of...

5/12/2024 11:40pm I have the same two bikes. I'm interested to hear your thoughts comparing the two after you've got a few hrs on the kx. I'm only planning on keeping one of mine and trading one for a 2 stroke but struggling to decide which one to keep 🤣

5/12/2024 11:38pm Well I picked up a 2024 KX 450 to go along with my 23 350sxf. The KX is awesome! Power is smooth, it turns great, and doesn't beat me up. I'm able to do longer Moto's with out getting worn out like on previous 450's I've owned. Some may say the 24 KX 450 doesn't have enough excitement. For this 57 year old man it's perfect!

5/8/2024 3:02am I agree that the app is very easy to use and very similar to the yamaha app. Where it differs is the actual effect it has on the bike. Changes on the yamaha app are very noticeable, not so much on the kx.

5/7/2024 10:38pm I have played around alot with mapping and actually ended up back at stock. I'm running opened up air box and Ti6 exhaust. I feel like the kx app is a bit of gimmick compared to the yamaha one.

5/1/2024 7:07am It's hard to say, but I do agree the 24 is busier than the 22. The suspension revale helped a ton, bike was sketchy when it was stock, zero headshake now. I was one of the guys that didn't mind the long feeling of the 22, the 24 turns better. Maybe try stiffer fork settings? My bike is supper plush with my stiffer settings, so much that I'm going to be going stiffer myself.

5/1/2024 7:07am Like I told the guy earlier. Try dropping a single optional stiffer spring in one side of your forks. I had a bit of twitchiness prior to making this change, and that twitchiness is gone now. The spring was less than $100, so it is a cheap way to solve the problem if it works for you as well as it worked for me.

5/1/2024 7:06am I have got accustomed to the KYB feel- and have KYB on my 24 kx 450. Have already transferred over some friends to KYB on their 24 kx 450 as well . the showa can be made very good but it will definetly have a different feel ( less top of the fork plushness mainly) consider putting some kx250f KYB forks on it - or give my guy Craig decker at enzo at the texas location a shot - my showa he did was pretty close on the top stroke to my current KYB.
