Fuck no. How is this even a question? Look how many people were at the event! Is it perfect? No. Could the promoters make it easier for teams to get there? Yes. Could the teams make it easier on themselves. Also yes. But none of that means the event is fundamentally flawed.

Full gates are primo, it doesn't matter that 3/4 get lapped, there are races within the race. Racers get faster racing other racers. Look at some privateers in the top 10 this year, it was great racing.

As for guys having interest in going US, imo that makes a lot of sense. Reality is that most talents and good riders are fighting to get a spot in mx2 or keep it in mxgp. Guys like Bogers are quoted in interviews with if i'm unlucky i have to find a new job next year and guys like vd Moosdijk and Horgmo could just as easily have ended up without a ride for next year. You see guys like Boegh Damm with 2 years of eligibility in MX2 quitting the gps because he cant get a decent ride.

10/13/2023 12:13am I thought the vibe was really cool in 2014 to be honest. Okay it wasn’t as busy as a normal MXdN, but with everyone staying in Riga and there being less people there, it felt more special to be there. It was one of my favourite Nations I’ve done for sure

Speaking of Latvia, the organizers have requested to run the MXoN around 2027 (capitalizing on their team's potential). I'd be happy to go back there, but also super nervous that the vibe would be similar to 2014. It'd be so interesting to me.

I'll start by saying I love Matterley, and most GP riders call it their favourite track on the circuit too. Most also tell you it's 'excellent' for viewing. Yes: you can stand on the outside of the track up on the hill and watch most of the track from a distance. However, to me, that's not the best. I much prefer standing in the woods of Lierop hanging over the fence only inches from the riders, even though you only see a short section of track, that you can walk around during the day. 10/12/2023 5:40am Matterley is genuinely one of the best tracks in the world, has a great pit area for all the teams, great viewing and a shit ton of room for fans, none of which Hawkstone has. Donnington doesn’t have anything over Matterley either as far as I’m concerned, there isn’t even a track there anymore

10/12/2023 5:28am I fail to see how this event can be in September anymore now SMX exists. The dates haven’t been announced for SMX in 2024 yet but the last national is Ironman on 24th August. I assume there will be at least one week off between the last round of nationals and first SMX, doesn’t leave a whole lot of room...

Well if that's the case that's not very fair. In our case the 2 spots didn't make a difference, but still, if they're going to enforce the rules it should be for everyone. Just my opinion.
