Not a single thing there other than a field.

There are probably 6 tracks in europe that can run it, and Matterley Basin is the only one in the UK.

Maggiora, Teuschenthal, St Jean, Ernee, and Lommel.

Latvia was good, but felt just like a GP with a bit extra, ( i saw someone else say the same) and didnt have the buzz.

Nowhere else has the space to fill with VIP and proper fans.

Yeah it's a different situation today . When did they last have it at Farleigh 1980 ?

Yeah, i think so .

I know we didnt go , it was my first GP in 1979 i think, and it was dull as hell TBH , Mikkola crashed on the first lap, and had to ride through the pack , but i was a kid and didnt really care.

Once i could drive in 1983 i didnt miss a 500GP till the mid 90's .

I raced Farleigh last month, was a great weekend, but back then the paddock was in one corner of the site by the road/steps, now they have to use most of what we parked on back in the day , just for riders (i think they get 500 ish for the race) .

Sadly , we aren't blessed with lots of good tracks like we used to be.

Donington actually sounds/looks awesome from a fan’s perspective and they’ve hosted before but I’m assuming they’re sticking with Matterly as it has more history and isn’t just a track inside of a speedway.

That Donington picture is from a Superbike meeting , all the crowd it watching the road race circuit.

I went there for the GP and the MXoN and it wasnt big enough, and viewing wasnt great . Its 25 mins from my house and i would rather it was at Lommel .

Speaking of Latvia, the organizers have requested to run the MXoN around 2027 (capitalizing on their team's potential).

I'd be happy to go back there, but also super nervous that the vibe would be similar to 2014. It'd be so interesting to me.

I loved the place, but it was just a bit 'low key' ... that said, maybe a bit less lunacy wouldn't be a bad thing.

I'd love to see a GP in Slovenia , i think they go there for Sidecar GP's and the track looks mint.

If we wanna go real old school, Gaillefontaine in France would be cool.

I thought the vibe was really cool in 2014 to be honest. Okay it wasn’t as busy as a normal MXdN, but with everyone staying in Riga and there being less people there, it felt more special to be there. It was one of my favourite Nations I’ve done for sure

Doddington Park is owned by Sir James Dyson and hasn't had any events there for years.

I went to the 2008 MXdN. Flew in in a light aircraft from Denmark, with my relos. A bumpy flight, that somehow, I didn't throw up during. I'm not a good, or brave flyer in light aircraft. We then staggered across some fields to get to the circuit, in the dark. If it were East Midlands Airport where we landed, it must have been a bloody far corner of it!

With Matterley Basin existing, there's no need of a 'pop up' track in the middle of a Road circuit for the MXdN.

Not sure if it were a GP or an MXdN where a bike went into the crowd on one of the downhills at Matterley , but I think that may be part of why they haven't had 'in circuit' spectators points there for sometime?

Yes, Hawkstone Park is far too limited. And the suggestion by one here of chopping the trees down has to be a  joke?  Though it would be something to see a pack of MXdNers going up The Hill, that's for sure! Do they ever use The Hill nowadays?

I wonder what happened to the Isle of Wight GP track? Does it still exist? Done by the same bloke who did Matterley, I think. Most I've heard of with relation with regards to bikes and Wight lately are the attempts / plans to have a Real Roads Race there.

Google saying IOW is temporarily closed and they last updated their website (Facebook) in 2020. What a picturesque track though..

Looks like a nice track, but that's not the GP track or where it was as there's a pretty big farm built on where the track used to be...
