Here in the US I started watching the MXGP races in earnest. They are really good and Malin is awesome. The camera work is way better than the US Nationals as well for the most part. The entire screen is used and no tiny split screens for half the fucking race. And no screech, no RC babbling, no side stories during the racing! Watching Herlings go into full turbo mode the last 7 minutes of moto 1 was simply astounding.

Lucas Coenen is reaching an elite level that few ever have. Sure, Herlings is in the latter part of his career, but take Coenen out of the equation and he’s still the best sand rider in the world. Lucas may simply have found another level. At the MXGP of Sardinia, it’s no surprise that the top 3 best sand riders in the world went 1-2-3; Coenen, Herlings, and Kay de Wolf. Lucas’s best lap in Moto 2 was FIVE seconds faster than Febvre (defending champ)in 4th!!! Other than a mud race, when do you ever see such a huge disparity...

Great starts and not throwing away points is a pretty good skill set for a racer. If you’re self destructing, you’re not faster than the guy who is putting together a solid race. The guy knows how to race. If the top guys are so embarrassed by him then they should keep themselves off the ground and beat him. It wasn't a "holeshot and everyone has problems" win, he came through the pack and was about to pass Chase when he went down. That win was as legit as they come, he had the fastest lap too.
