mxtech1 Added a reply to Factory teams and tire changes

4/30/2014 2:08pm
Not sure about supercross, but for the nationals the first thing I did in the morning was tires. I would take the race bike wheels over to the tire sponsor and they would put on a new set of tires. The tire sponsor would mount whichever tire they felt best for the track conditions and gave me a specific tire...
Last weekend when he mentioned during the post race heat win interview that he knew of a couple more options for the rhythm sections but they would "need to make some changes to the bike first" I had a good idea that they probably needed a gearing change so that he could get that triple/triple coming out of the corner...

1) Order a carb rebuild kit and replace the jets. Specially the pilot Jet. 2) Make sure you have fresh gas. 3) Remove fuel line from petcock to carb and clean. 4) Change motor oil and filter. 5) New spark plug. 6) Clean air filter with oil and make sure air filter boot is clean. 7) Check all electrical connections...

mxtech1 Added a reply to Deegans kid DQ'd at Oakhill?

In this situation, it definitely sounds like $$ funds are not a problem for this kids program. Therefore, I would have to think that the Deegan camp definitely knew they were over the CC limit. On the other hand, how does this rule effect the not so fortunate families who are just barely getting by $$$ wise? The AMA puts...

Usually this only applies to the original owner who paid for the initial re-valve. You will likely pay close to full price on your first revalve (obviously you would keep some of the Pro Action internal hardware so you'll save some money there) and then after that you will get free labor IF you need to have the valves changed...

Make a request to the seller and see if they are willing to break the bike down into pieces. If you can get them to work with you on this, you could buy the bike in different "parts" and avoid the large bill of sale. What I have done in the past is had a seller ship me the main...

Have him show the differences between oil viscosity. It's simple, measure amount "x" ounces of each type, pour them all through the same funnel, and time how long it takes to empty. You can then use excel graphs to show some simple correlations. If you want to get tricky, do one trial cold, one trial room temp, and one trial...

mxtech1 Added a reply to Home workshop floor suggestions....

8/1/2013 9:12am
I would recommend that the grit is probably not needed. The floor will not be as slippery as some lead to. I did my floor last year with similiar products and my garage is a direct path to our swimming pool. So we get alot of traffic coming in and out with wet feet from the pool, have not had...

mxtech1 Added a reply to Coil ground w/ Ti bolt?

6/13/2013 3:00pm
Ti is a poor conductor of electricity. Typical carbon steel bolts will be about 300% more conductive than a Ti bolt. Ti is often used more frequently in/as resistors than a conductor. You have obviously proven that the Ti bolt is not the culprit, but understand you will lose about 1/3 of your conductivity with the Ti bolt IF it...

mxtech1 Added a reply to Ultimate KTM 2-stroke

The KTM motors is much better than the RM motor. It's all in the way the KTM motor delivers the power. It's smooth from the bottom to the top and doesn't have the massive hit like the RM does.

mxtech1 Added a reply to Excel Rims... Feels like butter??

4/23/2013 7:11am
99% of the time a bent rim comes from lack of spoke maintenence. When the spokes are not torqued evenly and checked often, forces from riding are not spread evenly across the rim.

I sent my 250SX suspension to Matt Hammond at Mx Tech Suspension and he worked some magic into the suspension! It will be a night and day difference feeling for you and i'm sure it will totally change your opinion on the handling and suspension of the bike. It is without a doubt the best money you can spend on...
