mxtech1 Added a reply to new 2015 ktm.
8/13/2014 10:29am The only items you need to be concerned about are the activities that the dealership does during prep. When buying a bike, ALWAYS insist that the service manager gives you a copy of the OEM prep checklist after your bike is setup. Often times, this is your only form of protection if an early-hour issue would arise. Other than greasing...

mxtech1 Added a reply to Can a bike be too roached?
8/8/2014 10:12am I once had an RM250 that spent most of its life as an off road race bike for a kid that didn't maintain that well. I knew it was in bad shape when I looked at it, but the price was right and I was planning a total rebuild anyways so I bought it. By the time I got it...

mxtech1 Added a reply to What piston for a 2002 cr125?
8/1/2014 1:32pm You will do just fine with either choice if you have a clean bore that is properly sized to the piston. It is also very important to check the ring gap and don't forget to file if necessary! This is one of the most critical aspects to a 125 engine.

7/21/2014 2:04pm The SSS suspension on that bike is some of the best production suspension ever made. I would be extremely surprised if you couldn't get it very good just by doing a simple rebuild and getting the correct springs rates. Unless you are fat, lightweight, extremely fast, or extremely slow, I just don't see a reason to go inside the SSS...

7/20/2014 7:56am I've done this before. Guess what happens next?? LOL Over the bars and sampling the dirt quality or front wheel tucks and causes a high-side.
mxtech1 Started a new thread Thread contents & NSFW
7/16/2014 12:29pm GuyB and other administrators, I'm sure I'm not alone here when I say I enjoy reading the vital forums at work on breaks and during lunch. I have often seen pictures that are most definitely NSFW but were not tagged in the thread title that could really accidentally cause some of us problems due to most companies policies on internet...

mxtech1 Added a reply to Has anyone here..
7/16/2014 10:02am I've maintained and ridden several top privateer bikes with full Yosh or Pro Circuit race motors with A Kit suspension and every trick part available to buy. Even with those bikes being so incredible, it's hard for me to comprehend that a factory bike is even that much better. One day I will find a way to ride one. Some...

7/15/2014 8:41am How are we supposed to know if a new head is going to fix the oil problem based on the few lines of information you've given us?
mxtech1 Added a reply to Hinson Clutch Basket
7/10/2014 10:01am Steel baskets are fine for most applications. Billet usually costs more and is typically only needed for a hardcore racer or a clutch abuser.
mxtech1 Added a reply to 2012 kx250f clutch Issue
7/9/2014 9:33am Also, Kawasaki purposely designed these thickness washers so that the rider does not have to replace a pressure hub or clutch basket when they get a little bit of wear on them. The only point I would consider replacing the basket and hub is if you have installed the thinnest washer and you still can't get the clutch to disengage.
mxtech1 Added a reply to 2012 kx250f clutch Issue
7/9/2014 9:27am You probably need to look at replacing OEM part #92200. I am going to try and diagnose your problem, but please keep in mind I am only using the information that you have said. It is evident to me that when you pull in the clutch lever, no matter how the cable is adjusted, you aren't getting enough expansion in...

7/7/2014 1:58pm His bike always sounds pretty dang crisp. Any word on if he's running leftover Honda 2 stroke race team parts?

mxtech1 Added a reply to 125's and teenagers
7/2/2014 7:02pm If a kid can't win on a 125, he can't win on a 250f (just generalizing here) In C & B district racing, there's absolutely no reason a 125 is at a disadvantage. Heck, he should even be able to still pull holeshots if he is a good starter. Put him on the right sized bike and let him learn...
mxtech1 Added a reply to How about JGR?
7/2/2014 6:53pm We need more teams like JGR in MX. They have the technology, engineering, and in-house capabilities to literally do whatever they want with the bikes. Do any you think JGR will take a run at AMA road racing or MotoGP? Financially i'm not sure it makes sense, but I bet they could build a hell of high HP sport bike...
