First, you should be extremely thankful to your parents for hooking you up with such a bitchin super mini. Show them some love in return and help them out around the house. Secondly, you should call the engine builder with these questions. Nobody on this board knows how the engine was built therefore you are just going to get a...

I always had good luck with the Braking race compound pads. They are expensive and wear out faster than OEM, but they are very strong. You're next step would be an over-sized rotor with a SS line.

I think you are absolutely right being concerned about not having physical experience. First, I would talk to your college and find out how you can land an internship. Internships are extremely valuable and look great on a resume. If you can't get an internship, your next best bet would be to start hitting up all of the local fab/manufacturing...

I really like the idea of a 2-main format, similar to moto points scoring. 10 laps for 250, 12 laps for 450. Highest combined points overalls the event. Eliminate the 250 E/W format and make the 250 class premier alongside the 450s. Introduce a Pro-Sport E/W class for the privateer and non-factory or factory support riders. Riders qualifying from the...

This is an interesting topic. I would have to say that our best design engineers at work are the one's who have spent massive amounts of time with our product in the shop and in the fields. They have a much more fundamental approach on how to make things that work and assemble well. Many, many times, they are not...

Cool build. Won't ever be considered for production though. The market is too small. They would be hard pressed to sell more than 200 per year. If you look at the Pro Singles class, most of the field isn't even on a current year bike. It's much different than Motocross. I've seen bikes being ridden at the Peoria TT that...

You should buy this whole setup. If the cylinder has port work done, there could be a chance the powervalves may have been matched to ports. If you send your cylinder to millenium, it will come back looking brand new. They do great work and $300 is about as cheap as you are going to get. By your piston ahead...

Perfect donor bike for a 2 stroke transplant! Just sayin..... I would give around $500 for it, but I am also capable of doing all the motor work myself. If you are in the same boat and don't have to pay anyone to do any of the motor work, you could get it going again and have a decent bike...

What other mods do you have on the bike? What's the head volume? Would it require race fuel? You probably won't notice much difference with just the head mod. If anything, it will just make the bottom and mid a little bit smoother and might take some of the initial hit off the stock mid-range

Since you've been doing this for awhile now and for the most part all of the locations are still the same on the schedule, do you have to use navigation to get from round to round? or do you have all your routes memorized? How often do you get approached by radnom fans during the week asking if they can...
I suggest you might want to go by a new pilot jet since you have a dealership nearby. You should check your air mixture screw. Turn it all the way in and then back it out 2.25 turns. This will get it close. This might help the lean issues. Do you have slack in your throttle play? Make sure the...

I'm not sure. Alot of the kits for 4 stroke motors cost $700 to $900. A 2 stroke might be less. At a minimum, you would want to use ceramic bearings for the crank bearings and transmission bearings.

Ceramic bearings are overkill! But then again, for a rider of any less skill than pro, so is polishing the internals. However I respectfully disagree about ceramic bearings. In certain applications, they are the right component for the job - mostly on national level engines or high RPM small bores.

Usually as a last step, I use a buffing wheel to finish the material. I have a bench top grinder with buffing wheels and then Dremmel attachments for the tight spots. That's the only problem with polished aluminum is that it's raw metal. It will be susceptible to oil, grease, dirt etc.

If you do all of the internals, the action and engagement of shifting will be much smoother. Performance wise, it won't necessarily add much, but obviously less drag on the rotating components will make the engine spin freer. This is often felt as helping the bike rev a bit quicker. Both processes are good, just pick a reputable builder and...
