isf or micropolish?

im doing a the bottom end on a motor and was wondering whats the difference between the two? does it make a huge difference in performance? shift smoother?

If you do all of the internals, the action and engagement of shifting will be much smoother. Performance wise, it won't necessarily add much, but obviously less drag on the rotating components will make the engine spin freer. This is often felt as helping the bike rev a bit quicker.

Both processes are good, just pick a reputable builder and go for it.

If you really want to get serious and have a much improved bottom end, replace all of the OEM bearings with high quality ceramic bearings.

according to my buddy. who worked with bearings all is life.

In a motocross bike EVERY bearing rolls in very slow rpm.
Ceramic bearing is overkill and makes no difference. Just a sell trick

But then again, for a rider of any less skill than pro, so is polishing the internals.

However I respectfully disagree about ceramic bearings. In certain applications, they are the right component for the job - mostly on national level engines or high RPM small bores.

Can confirm. Ever pushed a bike with ceramic wheel and tranny bearings? That shit will run away from you.

Thanks guys @ mx tech 1, what would ceramic bearings cost for a 15 250sx? I never thought of putting ceramic bearings in the wheels either

I'm not sure. Alot of the kits for 4 stroke motors cost $700 to $900.

A 2 stroke might be less. At a minimum, you would want to use ceramic bearings for the crank bearings and transmission bearings.

You can achieve higher performance and save money by having the bearings coated in WS2. Huskamp Engineering does this for the public. Most all indy cars and nascars use stainless bearings with WS2 coatings. Drag coefficient is superior to ceramics, cost is drastically lower as well. The difference is night and day.
If you really want smooth, WS2 on full ZrO2 ceramic bearings is unreal. But for all the bearings required, you would be in the 3k dollar range to do it that way.
