Just saw his "All for fun" Vlog from Washougal and goddamn. To even finish the first moto was commendable, but to go out and finish 10th after being as torn up as he was is insane. I haven't been a huge Forkner fan, but I am now. That dude is tough as shit.

This comment is aimed at you two and the topic at hand; not Deegan's comments. Patriotism and nationalism are not synonyms. You can be a patriot and still acknowledge terrible things done by the US. I don't even know why I bother typing out some of these responses if you guys can't grasp this very basic concept. These types of comments reek of someone that has never been able to form their own opinion. Isn't it funny how both JT$ and ML were able to disagree with Matthes by giving their view/opinion on it without going "you must just be...

I get what steve was saying but..... Haiden loving his country and waving the flag on the podium while still respecting what the Lawrence brothers are doing isn't mutually exclusive. Also it's not like Jett and Hunter are anti-american by any means. They love American culture.

Remember the time hunter and Jett both podiumed and brought australian flags onto the podium? I do. I also remember not crying about it.

I don’t understand why some people get so bent out of shape over it. One of my greatest race memories as a spectator was going to the Italian Grand Prix at Monza a decade ago and being in the crowd of the Italians going absolutely bananas for Ferrari because they’re Italian. Yeah, American fans are probably going to cheer for the American in the championship just like I would expect the Aussies to be cheering for the Lawrence brothers. Haven’t there been a ton of Australian flags in the crowds this year? Does Matthes have an issue with that?

How about a 17 year old is super hyped on going 1-1 beating some of the fastest dudes in the world, and let his emotions flow on the podium? I think Matthes' take is whack and sounds ridiculous. Trying to create a narrative that isn't there. Irony.

You could argue the most popular racers in recent years have all been foreign born. Reed, Roczen and now Jett. If the AMA series didn’t welcome others in with open arms it would be one thing but it’s not like that. Old man Deegan is finding an angle for more marketing and he is using it. It’s all about making the kid more popular. A lot of guys are dicks to the French but that just seems more cultural if anything.

I think JT had the most balanced opinion in that discussion. I’m Australian and I wasn’t offended at all by Deegan being patriotic, he wasn’t being disrespectful toward non-Americans, just a patriotic kid who loves his country… and is building bits of patriotic content for his channel in the hope it adds to the narrative for a spot on the MXDN team 😜

They don't have to be for op point to be a good one. When Jeffrey Herlings came to race a national in 2017, everyone was interested in how he would stack up against the best U.S. riders. Before that, DeSalle came in 2010 and fans wanted to know how Dungey would do against him. in the 80s and 90s, at various points, riders would cross the pond to race. We all wanted to see how they would stack up against each other, often times with fans wanting their rider to win. Stefan Everts came over and raced a couple supercrosses...

The last American to win the 250 class was AC in 2019. Non-American riders won both coasts in SX this year, and they're leading the motocross championship as well. And two out of three overall winners in the 250 class this year are non-Americans. It's been a while since an American has won AMA 250 motocross. Fair enough if US fans get excited about Deegan being American.

I think you can have pride in your country while also respecting other competitors. disclaimer: I’m American but cheer for ferrandis and Marvin. I was also a big DV fan ever since I saw is first heel clicker at Anaheim. But when MXDN rolls around I cheer for the USA

None of this means he's a good person. Maybe he is, maybe he isn't. I don't know the guy. But none of that means he's "better" than anyone on here. People tend to have a false assumption that famous people are good people, or happy people, or "better" people, and none of those are necessarily true. But I also don't see why people are concerned about Deegan mentioning he listens to the guy. He could be the biggest POS on earth but he gives motivational speeches and no reason someone can't benefit from that. Deegan never said the guy was...

Hate on it if you want, but I LOVE it. Obviously would be much much better without the monster logo but that's rad. It's just cool that they're doing anything other than the all-black look. For those of you who say this is from the wrong era, you're either too young to know better or too old to remember. This was an epic era for Yamaha that signified their resurgence to the top of the sport. For example, how many premier class wins did Yamaha have from 1986 to 1991 (250&500 SX&MX)? 1986: 0 1987: 0 1988: 1 1989: 0...
