I'm a lady, 5'6" 130lb, so a little heavier than you. I started on a TT-R230 (the Yamaha equivalent of the CRF230), and it was the PERFECT starter bike. My only mistake was moving up from it too quickly. I could've spent more time on that bike and developed my skills faster. With your street experience, I think you'll be...

I was their watching it live. Kenny, was taking lines that were still shit for the first 10 minutes and slower because they were not ready like the main line jett was in. Ken from lap 3 on was building the track up so that he could have lines to pass jett in. So even while Ken's prepping some lines for later in the race, Jetts not pulling away at all. 2 of those 3 corners he was working would kill all of his momentum at first an Kenny would lose a good bit of ground but by the time...

Callous and cruel people have been amongst us since the beginning. The difference now is that social media gives them a platform and they feel safe spewing their bile from behind the keyboard.

The comments on that article are so disturbing and shows the lack of empathy people have these days. Covid pandemic really took the human out of people.

For those who don’t want to read 34 pages, here’s a synopsis to date: There’s a delay. There’s excuses. Money. Other options. Excuses. Money. Fuck Deegan. Excuses. Money. Fuck Kawi. Excuses. Money. Fuck Star. Excuses. Money. AMA vs Euros. Excuses. Money. AMA vs Aussies. Excuses. Money. Embarrassment. Despair. Other options. Fuck everyone. There’s still a delay. I may, or may not, have missed a few bits sorry.

I agree Masterpool would be an awesome pick, but he needs to get his appendicitis taken care of before the damn thing explodes on him.

My one take on this is, as a fanbase we can't continue to flame riders for showing emotion, and then get upset when they internalize that in a way that leads to them to no longer show emotion, be it in on the track, after the race or otherwise.

This is a total bummer for everyone involved. Business deals can go sideways fast, often times it’s due to poor planning or foresight. Most of the time though it’s over exuberance on one parties side. AJ doesn’t seem like a nefarious person. I’m just wondering why all the ducks weren’t in a row. This is not a $5000 buy a bike in a parking lot deal, it’s a huge investment. I would have had attorneys involved from the get go. If I lose $200 it is what it is. You start talking about losing millions, I’d have some serious discussions...

I actually do ride with STRA! We plan to be at the event this weekend at TTC as well. Wave me down if you see me. My name is Caroline. We actually bought an Ossa MAR last year and are working on restoring it, but I'm really itching to work my way into some speed/moto riding, hence the interest in...

What contributed to the difference in the bikes? Just the technology improvements between those years, or was it more the specific design of each?

How fast do you want to go? I raced a 1972 CZ 400 and had the best time in that class. The bike was bulletproof and turns were very amusing with its low center of gravity and seat height. I also raced a 1980 YZ250 and it was an entirely different experience. Much faster class and of course more air time. Both of those bikes were easy to keep running and parts were not an issue. vintage tracks are awesome and so are the people. good luck and have fun

Holy smokes! What a collection! I admit to being rather a reluctant wrench-turner...but my husband loves it. He's the natural "team mechanic." He enjoys the parts hunting and restoration work and seeing a bike he worked on perform well. Our plan is that he'll handle (and enjoy) the wrenching, and I can focus on riding, and it'll be a true...

Good suggestions on checking Partzilla and eBay. It sounds like finding the right bike and doing parts research is going to be the ticket. I've never heard of the "full floater" rear, but I'm curious and will do some Googling. Beautiful bike you've got!

Pick a bike you can keep going with parts , so YZ250 /RM250/ CR250 from 89 up, lots of years share parts , and lots of aftermarket stuff available. And ride them at the right races, the wont want SX type tracks, but nice natural stuff will show you how an old bike handles. Dont expect brakes and suspension to be great , compared to modern stuff, but they can still be decent. We went out earlier in the spring with and 89 RM 125 and 250 , and a YZF250, guy in the next truck to us couldnt fathom...

What was good back in the day… is still good… I have lots of old bikes, 70”s and early 80”s bikes are too delicate for the way I want to ride. Late 80”s early 90”s bikes that are in good mechanical condition can still get it done on most tracks. I just ripped this 89CR250 yesterday, doing all the same jumps as my 23 300Sx.

If you start, don’t think you HAVE to join AHRMA first. Check around your area for vintage clubs/regions and see what their rules are. Some will allow to race without ahrma but you just won’t earn ahrma points. I joined for one year but am only able to race once or twice. Year end points weren’t a concern but the fun certainly was. Good times!
