We’ll if you believe the Deegans words. This is just a learning year for them so he shouldn’t be so mad.
I see a 17 year old throwing a temper tantrum. As they do.
I'm pretty sure i've done a lot worse for a lot less at that age.
Character is not demonstrated by never making a mistake.
Reed dropping his bike to the ground and walking away at Red Bud years ago was a tougher look TBH.
Maybe, instead of the contrived ghost ride, and lengthy histrionics, Haiden should have composed himself and started acting professionally by pushing his bike back?
Imagine how impressive that would have been for his tarnished image.

Sounds like the HRC story about Haiden cruising past the HRC pits to taunt them when Hunter DNFd are true. That being the case, this seems to be Karma and I personally don't feel any sympathy for this DNF happening to him.
Yep, I was about to say the same thing. I left a bike sitting on the side of the track and stomped back to the pits (pouting) because it seized on the last lap while I was leading. I kicked a bike off the stand once because it wouldn't start and I missed the start of the 2nd moto. All because of a plastic trophy. Not proud moments, but I was a stupid kid and I didn't know how to put things into perspective (or control my emotions).
HD just saw his chance to win a national championship slip through his hands (whether it was a legit chance, or not). I'm not a fan, but I'm going to give him a break. Kid is super talented and driven to win. We all wax poetic about the antics of Bob Hannah and the attitude of the Bradshaw, and we lament that riders these days are robots and show no emotion.
This kid is far from robotic on the podium and he wears his emotions on his sleeve. Yeah, his mouth-breathing fanbase has turned a lot of people off, but I think he's good for the sport. He certainly brought some excitement to an otherwise boring national series.
True? It doesn't look like it. Check out the post here that claims it's false:

Let’s also not forget I think these guys get paid if they podium correct? Did I hear the sum of 100k to the winner? Please correct me if I’m wrong. Man, wouldn’t you be upset if something out of your control cost you some dollars..
I assure you if I was in the running for what these guys are, if my bike blew up, depending on my mood would determine the amount and type of foolishness that would follow.
If I was second in points trying to get the big W, man I would be flaming pissed. But racers are emotional, we love our bikes, we love our swagger, and dirtbike guys are like the lacrosse bros of off-roading, makes sense someone gets upset within eye shot.
Edited.
I have a bigger issue with the a**clown heard in the background than anything I can see in that video.
He posts here, Username: MxAddic
In his position, I would have stood there and pissed over it.
Heart wrenching to say the least.
My one take on this is, as a fanbase we can't continue to flame riders for showing emotion, and then get upset when they internalize that in a way that leads to them to no longer show emotion, be it in on the track, after the race or otherwise.
I guess you would be looking for a new ride the next day then.
Pushing his bike back? Yea, waste a bunch of energy pushing a dead 200+ pound bike back to the hauler, great idea.
I'd like to say that I would act differently in that situation, but I'm not sure the 17 year old version of me would've. It might have been worse. A 22 year old version of me would've calmly (on the outside) walked back to the truck, and maybe even pushed my own bike back. But I would've calmly taken it out on everyone in the next moto, and won by 30 seconds, or a minute.
One thing I would've done for sure, is try with everything I had to make that bike move forward until the race was over.
I don’t think deegan is worried or motivated by the $$$. He’s set.
Has any rider ever been as polarizing as Deegan?? People either love him or hate him. Guess it comes with the over exposure of Youtube and media
Man, Brennan Schofield really dodged a bullet by not getting Deegan’s POS bike.
Pit Row
Stew, Pichon, Bayle are a few.
Its amazing how many free passes he gets. If you don't praise him you get attacked by the mob. I can't remember another rider like that.
Jason Lawrence
That's the first time I have seen the events other than what was on the broadcast. But watching the moto up to that point, it was a considerable mental feat by Haiden to get to where he was. Earlier in the moto, he wasn't as quick and got passed a couple times. But he put his head down and figured it out and began to claw back what he lost and was in position to challenge Hunter for the spot.
Then the motor pops... I suspect he was amped up and the emotions shown were what we would expect from a teen in the heat of battle. I saw Lucas Coenen do it when his first GP overall was stolen from him by a bike failure. I don't have a problem at all with what I saw. Because I saw desire get attacked by disappointment in both of those kids heads. I bet Deegan comes out charging at Budds...
How does he get free passes? Half the people seem to despise him; that's hardly a pass. It's not great look and I imagine someone has said something to him, but of all the things to crucify a rider for not reacting well in the moment a bike fails in a title chase is not the time to get out the cross and nails.
I'm not a big fan of the Deegan camp one way or the other, but this is a nothing burger that people are trying to backfill into their existing for or against stories so they can fight about stuff on this board.
What is he saying? I can't make it out.
Willing to bet that Hunter is crossing off the days on his race calendar until he doesn't have to be in the 250 class anymore lol.
Yep
Every time there's an incident with him people say no big deal, he'll change, he's only 17, nothing to see here.
I'll start by saying that Mr. Danger has serious skills and is a bad ass dirt bike racer. Got a good shot at a great career.
But...like any spoiled kid or person...that shit don't fly. Better tuck that pouty lip back in and grow up. He's getting paid a man's salary...and real men don't throw tantrums...(and still be respected).
Be mad...be upset...cry...whatever...but his little kid days are behind him now. Or, I could be completely wrong and acting childish is the new cool.
Calling this an incident to begin with is just silly.
What about the people who run him down every time just as consistently? You call that pass? You're here shitting on him, that's getting a pass?
What would not be getting a pass? Losing his ride? A unanimous verdict that he's jackass? What does said "non-pass" mean?
