OMC in Norman, OK is hosting round one of the hot summer nights series. I’m expecting several hundred entires for the SX style heat-main formatted event. Facility owner Rodney Berryhill and GAME company moto coach Gregg Albertson have crowd sourced a 100% plus donation purse now in the couple grand for open pro sport. I’m expecting 15-20 pro riders with names such as Dustin Winter, Chase Marquier, Michael Hicks, Isaiah Clark, Grant Harlan, Chandler Baker, Nick Maret, Preston Taylor, Brayden Brunk, Zack Duran, Caleb Conner, Jeremi Williamson, and a laundry list of regional hitmen looking to cash in on the...

You left out the part where people are dying and it is being marked that they died from COVID-19 even if they didn’t... I’d say the mortality rate is quite a bit lower than what it actually looks like as of right now.

Hate to see Ken buying into the fake news like so many others. They're doing a great job of creating this fear. The virus is here. Social distancing and shutting things down is not going to get rid of it. More reports coming out daily showing that it's no more fatal than the flu. It's time to get back to our lives and let this thing run its course. If you are concerned, stay home but let the rest of us go about our business. This whole thing has been completely overblown.

...and this is why I don't use a spoke torque wrench, lol. Seriously though, when you are doing your laps to pull it in evenly or to bring each spoke up to next tension level, are you doing like every 3rd or every 5th spoke? That's what I do. It has to be an odd number that has you hitting a different group of spokes on each lap. Usually every 5th spoke on a 36 spoke wheel. If you do every single spoke sequentially it can pull the wheel out of true. Also, some rims are just naturally easier to...

MX-Tech Lucky Gen 2 for experts and racers. Gen 1 for all others. Literally best performance vs cost ratio. High performance spring conversion that only adds about a pound to the front end. OEM shock re-valved with linkage absolutely transforms the bike and chassis. National shock if you've got the dough.

Actually, I think it was more tender than doing a single long smoke. On the fatty end, I could have chopped it with a butter knife. The lean end came out really tender as well, and could literally cut the pieces up with a fork after carving the pieces. It really makes a long cook manageable doing it this way...

While a shotgun is easier to hit a target with than a handgun, it's not like the movies where it automatically hits right where it should. They still need to be aimed. There are various versions of the 590, all of which are higher than the traditional shotgun capacity of only 5 rounds. You really still need to practice, and unless you're going to practice all the time, the 590 with a nub for a handgrip is likely going to be less accurate than desired. I would suggest a traditional 590A1 with a shoulder stock. If you're leaning toward a...

Figured that since the Corona has ground everything to a near halt I would dig out a project to pass a little time at work. A customer who moved several years back stopped by the shop and gave me this bike. Gave, as in free but all I could think was how this is gonna end up costing me a few grand! I had the frame and assorted parts powder coated right before the Hurricane Harvey floods and they have even sitting on a shelf ever since. Stripped a tank, repaired a dent and got it primed up. Was thinking...

I did a 2-day cook the other day. Smoked for about 5-6 hours until it hit 165, then double foil wrapped and into the cooler for a couple hours. Refrigerator overnight. Took it out in the morning for a couple hours on the counter, then into the oven for 5-6 hours on 275 until it hit 203 internal temp. Tried...

I don't know about a resume but he was the head of off road R&D for Yamaha for a long time. Doug Duback mentions him several times on The Whiskey Throttle show. He wrenched for Pierre Karsmakers at one time too. I met him through his son Gary. We were taking fire technology courses at a local community college. I thought he was talking shit when he said his dad wrenched for Karsmakers. Then one Sunday after we met they showed up at Saddleback. Gary was a 125 expert and Ed rode with Oldtimers MX. I had this awning you...

Good bench racing question, rider success means nothing when it comes to a mechanic's skill but I've talked to so many old-timers, newer guys and I'll tell you that they all mention Cliff White, not always the nicest guy out there to his fellow mechanics but even the guys that didn't like him respect his skills with a bike. He was grinding cylinders better than the guys in Japan for HRC a few years! He was meticulous and innovative, to me he's on any short list of greatest mechanics because I've heard it from so many others that were there...
