While a shotgun is easier to hit a target with than a handgun, it's not like the movies where it automatically hits right where it should. They still need to be aimed. There are various versions of the 590, all of which are higher than the traditional shotgun capacity of only 5 rounds. You really still need to practice, and unless you're going to practice all the time, the 590 with a nub for a handgrip is likely going to be less accurate than desired. I would suggest a traditional 590A1 with a shoulder stock. If you're leaning toward a...

Figured that since the Corona has ground everything to a near halt I would dig out a project to pass a little time at work. A customer who moved several years back stopped by the shop and gave me this bike. Gave, as in free but all I could think was how this is gonna end up costing me a few grand! I had the frame and assorted parts powder coated right before the Hurricane Harvey floods and they have even sitting on a shelf ever since. Stripped a tank, repaired a dent and got it primed up. Was thinking...

I did a 2-day cook the other day. Smoked for about 5-6 hours until it hit 165, then double foil wrapped and into the cooler for a couple hours. Refrigerator overnight. Took it out in the morning for a couple hours on the counter, then into the oven for 5-6 hours on 275 until it hit 203 internal temp. Tried...

I don't know about a resume but he was the head of off road R&D for Yamaha for a long time. Doug Duback mentions him several times on The Whiskey Throttle show. He wrenched for Pierre Karsmakers at one time too. I met him through his son Gary. We were taking fire technology courses at a local community college. I thought he was talking shit when he said his dad wrenched for Karsmakers. Then one Sunday after we met they showed up at Saddleback. Gary was a 125 expert and Ed rode with Oldtimers MX. I had this awning you...

Good bench racing question, rider success means nothing when it comes to a mechanic's skill but I've talked to so many old-timers, newer guys and I'll tell you that they all mention Cliff White, not always the nicest guy out there to his fellow mechanics but even the guys that didn't like him respect his skills with a bike. He was grinding cylinders better than the guys in Japan for HRC a few years! He was meticulous and innovative, to me he's on any short list of greatest mechanics because I've heard it from so many others that were there...

My opinion, if a rider fired his current mechanic after several championships because of alcoholism, doesn’t mean the guy who was the parts manager that was lucky enough to replace him is the greatest mechanic. The best mechanics of all time are guys like Jon R, Jim Felt, Brian Lunnis or Bill Buchka. Those guys could make a bike faster, make them handle better, build parts and fix broken parts. Very few of those guys left, Ian, Tony Berluti and Kyle Defoe are the modern guys that fit that mode. Championships don’t define how great the mechanic is, McGrath won...

ProTaper Fusion is essentially a ProTaper Contour with a crossbar that locks and unlocks Unlocked, the bar will flex like the Contour. This bar is 5mm thick aluminum, I believe. ProTaper Evo is a 4mm thick aluminum bar. It's flex characteristics are a little bit better, IMO. I wish they would make a Fusion with the Evo bar as it's...

I tried to get him to do my suspension when I had the AER’s. Never answer the phone or called back. After 3-4 emails he responded, but didn’t answer any questions just told me to call him. When he did answer he answered my questions all he did was read off the race tech web site of everything I already knew.

It's simple - 250 2t vs 2504t. When will this BS ever stop? The funny thing is, 4t 'Champions', are usually those that will say equivalency is "unfair", whilst always going on about how great 4ts are. Yes, they are - and they certainly don't need any handicap classing to hold their own against equivalent capacity 2ts. They haven't for well over a decade, now. 250Fs are Not tiddlers - that's the province of 125s / 150s ( very, very fast tiddlers, of course) . Still, a good video - as was the Yam one - with respect to just...
