100% agree! Why bother buying a 2 year old bike for $1000 less than the newest bike/tehcnology?

100% agree with this. But lets be honest, $1000 dollars cheaper then a $10,000 bike really isn't a huge savings. Regardless of Hondas motive here, its nice to have a cheaper option but to me when your spending 8-9k why not spend a bit more and get the latest and greatest. Make that bike $7500 bucks and I think it would be a real home run.

Dirty Points Liked a reply to forum topic Should Factory Editions offer WP's best suspension?

Nah. The buyer for the expensive special editions with blingy upgrades are often also the buyers for high-end kit suspension. Why sell a guy one set of forks when he will willingly purchase two?
This forum topic has 30 replies.
The limited edition concept has proven to have a market, and many feel there is better value in having the factory make the upgrades and not have a bunch of brand new parts left over by doing it yourself. Should the factories take it further? Would you for instance buy a KTM/Husky with WP cone valves and trax shock for say $15k? Let's assume you will still save thousands over doing it yourself. Would there be a big enough market if Kit suspension was offered? It seems odd to still have better upgrades left in the parts brochure. On a...

Anyone saying racing would be boring hasn't watched enough Downhill (MTCool racing. it,s awesome and you can hear the spectators screaming, etc. It would most likely also open up venue possibilities that are not possible with gas-powered bikes.

My buddy built a 202 lb 2007 CRF450R. It’s no-shit 202 pounds straight up. We weighed it, otherwise I wouldn’t have believed it. You can go all around it with a magnet and there’s very little steel there. He started with the big stuff like Ti hardware (including a bunch of parts he fabricated himself), trimmed the plastic, carbon tank and one of those airbox /subframe combos that twinair had made back in the day. The wheelset utilizes fat bicycle tubes and lightweight starcross 5 sand tires mounted to relieved rims, titanium spokes and turned-down hubs. He replaced the spring...

Beta Xtrainer 250 or 300 sounds like the perfect bike! E-start, the seat height should be lower than standard, softer comfortable suspension setup.

When a 250 engine weighs almost the same as a 450 I would say it is relatively heavy compared to the 450. I said nothing about how it ran or the bike handled. Clearly the ktm 250 engine weighs about the same as the Japanese engines. Imagine if ktm takes lessons learned from the 450 and apply to the 250. I would expect that engine to be quite a bit lighter than the 450.

Titan1. Liked a reply to forum topic Are dealer “freight” fees legit?

2/4/2021 4:00pm
I don't want, or need, a relationship with a dealer that is more expensive, slower, and has nothing in stock...parts are cheaper online, and there are a number of shops around that do service faster and cheaper than a dealer. Gone are the days when the only place to get parts and service was the local dealer...back then, it was important to have a good relationship with them so they'd take good care of you. Not any more! Dealers need to realize this and adjust their model...or keep complaining about their customers.

I would think that jetting is good then unless you’re at crazy temperatures or altitude. Yes the power valve pins are know to back out or fall out completely as shown on the right PV in the photo below. If one or both are out of place you can replace with roll pins from the hardware store. The PV can...
