The real Sasquatch Liked a reply to forum topic How far should Factory Editions go with mods?

I know it would complicate things a little bit , but if they had a way to "order" a factory edition that You could pick what parts to upgrade to. And perhaps different levels of those. Like getting suspension that is valved/sprung/setup for you and how you ride, then next level up could be coatings added on, and the upper level would be the same stuff run on factory bikes. And at the top level upgrade You get a test day with a tech. The engines might need to be more conservative and not offer a full on factory built...

On the left is stock Yamaha fork tube without coating and on the right is stock Yamaha fork tube with DLC coating. Both have brand new oem seals and bushings. The difference in friction is huge

I wish I had been more chill with my kid when he was little at the track. Like, I was super easily frustrated when he was in a tantrum or being a little dick. Older, I have more patience now. Even when I was super pissed off, I was having the best moments of my life.

This whole argument is dumb If you don't want an electric bike, don't buy one. If you want to keep riding ice, you will still be able to ride them. Technological advancement will continue despite attempts to stay in the past. Remember when phones were connected to wires? Remember leaded gas? Horse and buggy? Chariots? Either welcome new tech or...

QED, thanks for making my point. I don't care about electric cars nor their sales numbers, it has nothing to do with the Varg, indeed I would like to talk about electric bikes which was the aim of this thread (so sorry JM), the electric cars BS is becoming tiring, I do not understand why your lot keeps bringing this up nor your obsession with stating EV sales are tanking when it's demonstrably false. Please do keep banging about it like you have not seen real EV sales data anywhere on the web or even on page 4 of this...

Heck, I mow my lawns at Night during Summer! Its Too Bloody Hot during the day, and, as I'm a Ranga ( bow down before me, you lowly Non Rangas! ) the Sun is my Mortal Enemy.... I just put my Bicycle lights on the mower, a Headlamp on my scone, and off I go, with my E mower. My Ryobi makes absolutely buggerall noise. Mind you, you get some passing drivers and walkers going WTF? when they see the strange light patterns.

Also Aussies don’t connect e bikes to ‘they are takin ma gurnnns, e bikes are communism’ Americans seem to mostly dislike them as some sort of people political stance… hence blaming California for them without understanding that California is a right wing paradise when compared to the rest of the developed world… aussies love bikes, hate bullshit and just want to ride. Seeing the expansion of urban sprawl into ride park areas means they are often under threat… e bikes help will at least help stave off some closures, untill the inevitable massive pot of developer money or aggressive rezoning...

Like the other guy said, don’t get a cat that ends with the number 7. I had one and the undercarriage is too much light duty. I’m using the 299D3 and anything less would not have enough power for my use.

JoshD nailed it . .rent a dozer to do the major work at first (you could probably get the track roughed in over the weekend) and then buy a 4x4 tractor or skip loader. A dozer is great but you can't use it for much else than pushing dirt. What else would you be using the machine for? Do you...

You'd get a lot more accomplished with that machine, however that's also a very expensive undercarriage if you have to replace, and at that number of hours (8,000+), you may need other major component replacements so that could add $$ quickly. Just to give you an idea, if that D3 needed new chains/sprockets, It would cost you probably $12k. I really like JoshD's recommendation, as long as soil conditions permit.....rent a dozer for track build and major overhaul, but for maintenance go for a 4wd tractor or skip loader....Deere 210 would be nice for maintenance and small changes, and very...

Rent a dozer to build and for major changes etc. Buy a 4wd tractor with a front end loader for maintenance. Your pocketbook will thank you.

The tracks themselves look pretty worn from what I can see in the photos. How many hours are on it? and how many on the undercarriage? Rebuilding the undercarriage on those can add up quickly. The system on the 249,259 has fewer parts and they are all metal. The ASV style system has plastic and rubber wheels, and a lot of them. They (ASV) do say that You can run those wheels until there is no rubber left on them. If I was looking at buying an ASV style CTL, I would take a good look at the condition of...

I'd be wary of that machine. You can't really tell undercarriage condition from just worn out track. I bought an ASV RC-30 a decade ago sight unseen. Tracks looked new in pics, but discovered the undercarriage was shot, multiple rollers needing replacement, leaking main seal. If at all possible go look at equipment year to you. Look for a good dozer, track loader or if you are set on it a compact track loader - have a mechanic go with you to inspect if you don't trust your own eyes. But also know that any piece of used equipment is...
