Yep, the AMA is always ahead of the curve.

AMA being ahead of the curve does not compute.

How many times will we get a chance to see the same vid of the same bike in a different thread?

"California set to become first state to ban gasoline-powered lawn equipment"
Gov. Gavin Newsom signed a bill that would phase out the sale of new gas-powered lawn equipment in the state by 2024.

Do you think 4 stroke MX bikes are a big leap for Newsom?

At least there is an alternative now.

That was cool, interesting he felt the electric bike was faster, but also less laboured to ride.

Electric lawn equipment even in its relatively new ish stage of development is far superior in every single way than 2 or 4 stroke equipment.

And based on the reaction and lobbying (and very likely threats of pulling out of competitions/pulling support from competition) from legacy manufacturers, they are afraid of the Starks superiority…

right? Surely?

Stark is doing everything it can to cripple its product to be allowed to compete against, I guess, the currently crippled crop of bikes. Right?

Aussies sure seem to be fond of electric, something I learned on Vital.  Makes you wonder what the televisions are saying south of the equator.

The BS that seems to be constant would be a lot more digestible, if y'all didn't act like nobody else but Stark is going to make an electric bike, and if it was not somehow like a government mandate coming tomorrow.  Covid is over, the bigger picture is cars and trucks, and that ain't going well, calm down fellas.  I have no doubt that electric is the way of the future, but you guys are a little too excited, and way too soon.

And to the cat above about how superior electric lawn equipment is,  ask a professional landscaper how great electric riding mowers are for homes on acreage, and how well this is going to work out for low-income landscapers in CA.  I can tell by your comments you are smart guy, just lacking logic.

You could probably argue he would have been even faster if the bike he was riding had a foot brake system instead of the hand brake.

For me this was the best video yet simply because I will have both of those bikes once my Stark shows up. Not surprised the Stark was faster since I owned an Alta.

As I’ve always felt…bike seems amazing but after his 5 lap moto my concerns about battery life are even greater. With that said I’ll have one eventually.

Sure not every situation just like E bikes aren’t better in every situation.

but starting up a gas mower at 6am to mow a postage stamp backyard is just so dumb.

But for real why do you think the KTM group was so adamant that the Stark couldn’t compete with them?

What is holding up AMA if not the current manufacturers pushing back… why would they push back if electric is clearly inferior?

I know a videographer from the Japan nationals when Trey rode and according to the other honda riders, their e bike pulled harder than their factory 450… many think the AMA got it wrong when moving to 4 strokes but I don’t think they did, at the time of the rule a 4 stroke was slower and heavier and a worse bike, by allowing a high enough displacement it encouraged development and it’s precisely because of this that 4 stroke are so damn good. The rule encouraged innovation. If it was an equal displacement rule we would still be modifying XR 400s with CR style seats and shit.   And this innovation to me is a large reason why the sport is doing so well at the moment, 4 strokes and E start and less maintenance make motocross far more approachable than new riders… and E bikes continues that approachability while adding riding opportunities in new or currently threatened areas.

e Bike to me are the key to growing and maintaining the sport we all love.

Again why would the KTM group be so scared if not for their perfomance potential.

I think Aussies are just sick of seeing our riding areas being continually closed due to noise complaints. Electric is such a clear answer to noise and being able to ride close to home.

Also Aussies don’t connect e bikes to ‘they are takin ma gurnnns, e bikes are communism’

Americans seem to mostly dislike them as some sort of people political stance… hence blaming California for them without understanding that California is a right wing paradise when compared to the rest of the developed world…

aussies love bikes, hate bullshit and just want to ride. Seeing the expansion of urban sprawl into ride park areas means they are often under threat… e bikes help will at least help stave off some closures, untill the inevitable massive pot of developer money or aggressive rezoning comes along and kills them in favour of more under insulated boxes we call houses being built.

While the green footprint is nice an all but for me personally I'll be done with the sport if E is the only option. The noise is all part of the experience. Pretty certain I'm not the only one who feels this way. BBRRRRAAAP!

Serious question, are $50K of your tax dollars being legislated into every EV that hits the road?

Heck, I mow my lawns  at Night during Summer!

Its Too Bloody Hot during the day, and, as I'm a Ranga ( bow down before me, you lowly Non Rangas! ) the Sun is my Mortal Enemy....

I just put my Bicycle lights on the mower, a Headlamp on my scone, and off I go, with my E mower.  My Ryobi makes absolutely buggerall noise. Mind you, you get some passing drivers and walkers going WTF? when they see the strange light patterns.

So then, let me put this into clear focus: if given the choice between silence but still riding/racing, and silence and NOT riding/racing, you would opt for the non-riding/racing option. You'll honestly just retire from the sport completely because you're so upset at having been denied your precious, soul-stirring, loud noises.

Man, that's CORE, baby. That love you have for this sport goes DEEP. It must be all the way up to your ANKLES.

For any of you who agree with this dude, let me just say that it's not your fault you feel the way you do, as you've been conditioned over years and years to think this way by people with an obvious profit-motive - BUT - that doesn't mean you'll be missed. The sport will go on without you, and apparently you're all okay with that. And since all of us who view a bright future ahead are okay with that too, it's a win/win, I guess. Coolsville.

And good luck with the backgammon or shuffleboard or badminton hobby you take up instead.

Sure they do...

Good vid from Alex. The track was fairly soft, and the electric motor made is so easy to accelerate out of each corner with the high torque. This added up over a lap to seconds off the laptime of the 350, which he felt was "labored" coming out of corners in comparison. This doesn't sound like it would be fun to race against a Stark on an ICE bike, if you'd get smoked out of corners. It is somewhat like the 4T vs. 2T advantage, but more drastic because there is a larger difference in torque advantage at low rpm and also you are removing the art of managing ICE engine characteristics through revs, clutch use, and gear shifting.
