Why? I understand that electric cars don’t work for most people (range and charging). But why hate on e-bikes? If the ride time is adequate (for average local rider who spends more time hanging out at the track then on the bike) power delivery is going to be better, why all the hate? I’m not saying that you’re wrong, I just don’t get it. I’m excited for something new.

But still over $100 cheaper than the tool needed to charge the reservoir after servicing the shock. As for the argument of bladder vs reservoir, if the bladder isn't up to snuff, then every Japanese bike made for decades isn't up to snuff either.

With a bladder kit, we've found shocks run up to 100 degrees cooler on the linkage bikes, it reduces thermal breakdown for the oil, reduces the single highest friction point in the shock, it makes them more progressive, requires fewer tools to service them, and they look cool. If they want any or all of those characteristics, it can be a good option for them. No one bats an eye when someone spends $225 on graphics that last 6 months but a bladder kit is a waste of time and money when the guy literally said he wants it so...

Looks like noise could be the downfall of Europe's current center of MX. From Gatedrop.com: The future of Lommel MX track is in danger. Gee, if only there was a solution for noisy MX bikes. Perhaps a system to drive motorcycles forward that doesn't rely on thousands of controlled explosions per minute. Maybe electrically driven, and comparatively silent...? Nah never mind. That's crazy talk.

I think holding the bike on the rev limiter to use it as some sort of overpriced noise maker is idiotic, always have. So you can imagine how I feel about a rider who purposely loops his bike out in celebration, or worse yet, just dogs the hell out of it until it blows up Grow the F up. I would fire these guys

I can't even watch the video. I find it disrespectful. Your bike has a soul. A mechanical soul but a sole nonetheless.

Luxon MX Liked a reply to forum topic HRC "split" Clamps? 🤔

Thanks for the compliments! First off, no, the bore should be a perfect cylinder all the way down. That said, nothing is perfect in reality, and there's a relatively large permissible variance from perfect that works just fine in this situation. The closer the better, obviously, but when you get the the point of "good enough", any better doesn't yield any returns. The mating surface (fork tube) isn't perfect either. I've measured plenty of brand new ones that were egg shaped by more than 0.05mm! So what's going on with your clamp bore? There's a few things that can contribute...

Any change is measurable, sure. But if that measurement of deflection comes out to be tens of thousands times smaller than the deflection in the rest of the motorcycle, is it reasonable to think that a rider can feel it? What if you know that you've made changes to a triple clamp design that had 100x or more the difference than the above mentioned change, AND that it was tested by multiple top professional riders who did not notice any change in feel. Wouldn't it be safe to assume the first mentioned change, the one many order of magnitudes smaller...

Well, unlike most all other companies in the moto space, we're hardly hiding it. Have a look at our blog posts or social media to see many examples of the calculations, analysis, and physical testing we do to validate product performance. Test riders are incredibly valuable, as all the calculations in the world can only go so far. However, test riders, and track testing in general, are full of faults and uncontrolled variables. Gathering test rider feedback, while understanding those faults, AND understanding the engineering calculations behind a design are the keys to going faster. Simply listening to rider feedback...

Exactly, psychological effects are strong. Basically, if it can't be measured, then it can't be felt. There's no way around that. And if it's measured to be REALLY small, then the change in feel will also be REALLY small. Often times, it's so small that the change is overwhelmed by everything else that's flexing on the bike. Back to back testing of the changes is great. But the time delay between tests is enough to change the tire pressure 0.25 psi, which will make a 100x more of a difference in feel than adding a small chamfer on the triple...

Do you think it’s possible that they’re testing different size fork tubes? That “notch” could be like a detent to locate a small sleeve within the clamps allowing different sizes of fork tubes.

Adding a groove internally will indeed change the "flex characteristics", however, that change is so incredibly small, there's no way it can be felt by even the most elite riders. If they were really going for a change in feel by adding the groove, they would put it on the outside, NOT the inside. The riders haven't found some magical change that mystifies engineers. The mind is a powerful thing, and if a rider knows that there's a "change", they will most certainly feel it, whether it actually changed anything or not.

That groove won't do much of anything for flex, it's weight removal only. Arguably, it helps isolate the torque of each bolt a tiny amount, but so long as it's not complely split, it won't do a very good job of that. Note that they don't complete it all the way around to keep water and dirt out of the groove.

After my surgery, I was able to get a signal to a toe and move it ever so slightly. I was able to get signals to all my extremities over the course of a few months while in rehab. I spent 4 months in an inpatient rehab facility and worked all those slight movements into bigger movements. I was able to walk out of the...

Good shootout! MXA always does a good job with their shootouts. I always look forward to them and value their opinion. I always read between the lines on a lot of this stuff.....they weren't to keen on the last KX450 because of knick knack issues that don't cost much to fix. They do help force the manufacturer into building a better products. They helped KTM be a better brand by passing along the changes that they wanted to see. KTM addressed those changes and now they are a brand worth buying.
