It does seem like the engine builder was aggressive and was pushing the issue. Maybe he wanted to see the engine. Maybe he was just trying a little too hard trying to protect Brennan. I disagree that it would’ve hurt Deegan by claiming it. Maybe sentimentally because he was planning on keeping his last amateur bike, but otherwise the AMA was making sure he could finish Loretta’s on the bike and wouldn’t have to scramble to find another one for his last moto. Bad look for Yamaha and Donnie Luce. If you don’t want a kid to claim the bike then don’t build a bike that’s worth more than the claiming rule amounts. It’s AMATEUR racing. Not pro racing for amateurs. The motors and suspension shouldn’t be the focus. Focus should be on the riders to develop and get better not to go Big Bore Brian on everyone and build the fastest engines. Sounds like it’s time for a stock engine rule like they have in karting.

I think it’s great. No production rule means they can put their riders on the best possible bike they can build. I’d expect nothing less from a team that’s serious about winning races. Bike looks awesome.

12/15/2021 6:32am ASV are high quality. Best levers I’ve ever had. Only time I broke one was when I had a bad spotter at the dunes and I landed on another rider. Even then it was just part of the end of the lever that snapped off and I was still able to use the brake.

Another great episode. This got me thinking and I just bought one of these first aid kits to put in my gear bag to take to the track. Has some survival stuff I might not use at the track but also has a tourniquet, splint, cold compress, and the rest of the first aid things I’d need. Throw in some Advil and some Benadryl and it covers most of the needs Ping talked about. Another great installment of @Ping. The riding technique question was a good one. It’s interesting to see what sets the dominant riders apart from the rest of the already excellent pros. I was at a regional race once where a retired McGrath was there racing and a young local pro was giving McGrath some great competition. McGrath battled for a lap but then tucked in behind him and watched his lines. Then on the last lap just overjumped two jumps in a row to get around him and then took off. It was the aggression that gave him the separation...

Video format is cool. My only concern is that maybe the responses from Ping might be more subdued on a video format. One thing I have always liked are the witty, blunt, and sometimes maybe a little snarky (but always well written) responses that make @Ping great. As long as Ping still goes Full Pingree when needed, I think it will be great!

Steve still looks great on the bike. I liked that wheel tap through the whoops he was doing. This test probably makes more sense in the context of the base FC450 but it was well explained in the video. On the video reviews I’d like to see you guys mention the MSRP of the products you test. Links in the article are always helpful too. Good content though

Both of those block passes by Ferrandis were pretty dirty. The first one on Craig was waaaaayyyyyy dirty. At least show him a wheel before you run him over. He hit him hard and in the back of the bike and just punted Craig’s back end out of the berm. If you both go down in a block pass then you took it too far. Should warrant some kind of penalty in my opinion. Especially considering that it’s early in the season. Plenty of time for Ferrandis to get wins without riding overly aggressive.

Blake Savage! Much respect. Leave it to a motocrosser to rewrite the rule book on what is possible with rehab. Hope he continues to improve and I’m grateful for his inspiring impact.

That was awesome! I loved how he talked about what the guys would be feeling during the race! Gives me a peek into what it feels like and also how much he enjoyed racing. I hope he does more of these. James has been my favorite racer and the sport needs more guys like him.
