It’s really sad seeing the shine being taken away from Hunter finally winning that elite title, due to the band wagon “we saw what we saw” conspiracy theorists ruining it for him.

Get a grip - the best man won. Well done Hunter!

But we did see what we saw.

We watched something unbelievable.

So expecting everyone to just go ' yeah nothing to see here' is just unrealistic.

I agree its sad, but history tells me , every day ,  that when that weird thing that has to happen, just at the right time and place, happens, its rarely a coincidence.

I would rather Jett won than this.

As i said elsewhere, the only thing that can save them now, is for Jett to sit out SMX and let it heal, if he rocks up and wins that, i dont know what to say.

You only saw what you think you saw.
Go back, rewatch and study Jett; I guarantee you’ll see something different….if you’re open to seeing it.
If you still can’t see it, I’m sure your golden retriever will fetch your cane for you.

We will never know the truth.

Even the unverified reports of him getting injured in the week have some credence now.

It doesnt pass the sniff test for me.

Time will tell.

With a Talus injury you can have an hour in a day where you think your ankle is done. Swollen, lack of movement very tender and almost impossible to put weight on.

However, if someone can reset your ankle joint and get the scar tissue out of the joint you can feel better and be walking normal in 15-20mins.

Or he faked the whole thing. 🙄

You think the Lawrence's would shit all over Honda for a few hundred thousand?

They have Jetts 22 million contract + Hunters, and both will most likely stay there for 5 years, yet you still think they screw over Honda? 😂

What if Hunters bike gave up or he crash on the last laps in last moto?

Jett would have just not lined up for moto 2 if it was that important.

How disconnected from reality can people be?!

Jett did, what I knew he would do,..... plain and simple. The crash with Deegan, just made it so much more difficult to hide.

Weird look on paper and the eye test was strange as well. I wouldn't say I know for sure either way. That said they dominated all season. Hell of a year for both of them. I was happy to see Hunter win it.

1000020113 21000020112 3

Thanks for the side by side of lap times. But I don’t see anything strange here. If you’re referring to early laps on Moto 2 being faster…look at what position they’re in. Guys in the front haul ass on the early laps and build a gap. Riders can’t turn the insane lap times when they’re buried in the pack surrounded by guys who are slower.

These laps times solidify the argument that nothing fraudulent happened. Jett didn’t wait on Hunter, he was riding injured and had consistent lap times across Moto 1. He got worked on and showed a slight improvement in Moto 2.

I really didn't give a shit about this one way or the other, who cares. Jett has proven he will fix a race when he let Roczen go, if he does it for his brother, so what? Or his ankle hurt, so what? But then today on Matthes's review with JT and Weege they go on for 25 - 30 minutes trying to disprove or over explain the fix was in, holy shit it seems more preposterous now if the Lawrence's didn't fix the race. Weege stated, "We don't want to speculate" at least three times, when that is exactly part of his job at times. Making much ado about nothing, BTW I still believe it was the ankle.

Anybody remember when Jett won Redbud and threw a raging fit after the win?   Anybody remember in that same race, Jett throwing out a boat anchor basically gifting the win to Hunter, and with Hunter having issues on the last lap forcing Jett to basically have to take the win back on the last lap?  We can say "that was just showing passion" but it sure looked to me like Hunter was supposed to win that moto..  I said that was odd back then, maybe there was some merit to my looney notion.

I will also say, that last moto at Ironman, Jett could easily have caught and passed Deegan within 3 laps if he really wanted to and getting 2 more points, he just really didn't seem to want to, that was bizarre.

Seems like they thought they could get away with it without drawing attention, if Hunter doesn't go down on lap 1 then no problem.

Once Hunter goes down then Jett decides to wait for him, except it takes much longer than anticipated and draws attention.

Put your head in the sand all you want, but I've never seen a championship winner look as disappointed as Hunter did in the press conference after the 2nd moto. You can also just tell Jett isn't being 100% truthful in the Weege interview.

You all know damn well if it was anyone but Hunter, Jett would have not let him catch him and pass him in moto 1.

I hope the race was legit and Jett was giving his all.
I just find it odd half way through the season Jett didn’t want even talk about his ankle. In all the post race interviews that’s all he wants to talk about. I know he said he hurt it, but why blame the ankle. Why keep making excuses. He should just own up that Hunter won the championship.

#waddabunchabaloney.

You'll never know the truth only if you believe Jett is lying.

You also have to premise your doubt on accepting that Hunter would want a title gifted to him.

Here's an alternative: a guy who missed all of SX and has been impaired throughout this season got a bad start and has said he tweaked that injury and could not press hard mid pack on a sketchy rutted track.  He got a better start second moto and still could not push hard, at which point it may not have mattered given the positions available and the points he was down.

I'll grant you this: he wasn't going to knock his brother down second moto to put those points back in his pocket given Pop's emphasis on straight up, and he may have been willing to take greater risks of compounding his injury if it was anyone other than Hunter he was fighting for the title.

The notion that Jett threw this really is an idiot test a lot of people are failing.

I'm sure if neither fell and Jett wasn't hurt that a large % of people will say if Hunter won Jett gave it to him. It's like some don't believe any of Hunter's races beating Jett this year were genuine.

Jett had all the cover story in the world he needed to NOT line up for second moto, because by doing that, Jett "risked winning" the Championship. If that is your delusional view.

Jett finished ahead of Hunter in last moto. Hunter going down, bike going south and there is nothing Jett can do about it.

Pisspoor logic that Jett have it away, and then finish ahead of Hunter with no control over what happens behind.

And again, pissing all over Honda? It's not even remotely believable and something people of their caliber ha sin their mind. For what, a few hundred k extra compared to Jett winning?

I don't think there was any fixing personally, JS pointed it out he looked to be riding injured. Weege said he even went against Bondo telling him to say what everyone was thinking in the review pod. Which if true is an absolutely stand up stance from JS7.

If there was any sort of silliness going on I would believe it was only Jett involved and not Hunter. I'm betting Jett happen to reinjure himself, and backed it down and might have been intending that from the start. Then moto 1 crash just gave the horrific optics. They should have never removed that footpeg from the start, IMO. Regardless the optics look terrible.

Though unless theres a huge investigation into this by higher powers this will be forgotten by next year just like Deegan's shenanigans at the last SMX round against Shimoda last year, but this is arguably way worse than that situation.

If he's injured, they're going to send him for tests, and they might not find anything.     We also don't know if he has an injury clause that could change his pay for not starting a moto.

I haven’t personally talked to the Lawrence family so I can only accept what they say which is Jett didn’t let him win.

But I got to thinking which is dangerous. It is funny all the people complaining that Jett let Hunter win because if you think about it. That if that were true that tells you just how much better the Lawrence’s are on the track then the entire rest of the field. That says they can make the outcome what they want.

Jett:

“My day sucked, honestly,” recalled the 23-year-old, who was sixth overall. “I felt terrible in both motos, but in that first moto, I mean, I didn’t know that [Hunter] went down at first until I looked back on the start straight. I felt like I was riding so badly on the first few laps that I was like, ‘surely I’m close to 40th.’

“Then I saw him there and was like, ‘alright, I need to make sure he doesn’t catch me.’ But yeah, not an ideal day for sure… I wish I could’ve given a better self, but I pushed it a little too hard in practice with my foot, and then the first couple laps [of moto one] I tweaked it really badly.

“I tried to keep pushing, but it was pretty painful, so we just all-around kind of sucked today. I’ve been doing pretty well without hurting it, but today in qualifying it got ripped [back] three times – I’ve been able to ride with it all year and have good rounds, so it’s not really an excuse.

“I have not ridden that bad in years – I had that [‘sky shot’ moment], another moment in front of Hunter through the rollers, I had headshake multiple times in pit lane, I had so many moments that I can’t count all of them.”

“As a brother, I’m happy for ‘HJ’ for getting his first 450 title, and I’m happy with what I have done this outdoor season,” he added. “Everyone I raced this year, at the start of the year, I was watching them while I was sitting on the couch on a three-wheeler thing, trying to get around. No matter what my results were, because this injury was an unknown for me, I’m still happy.

“I’m even more stoked that I was able to be a pain in the ass for Hunter for this championship – I didn’t want him to get it easy. We’ll see [for the playoffs]… We’ll let you know on that, but as of right now we’re just going to enjoy this, enjoy it with my brother for doing something unreal, so I’ll focus on that first.”

Poor guy. Finishes an amazing seson and finally wins a 450 title after coming so close so many times and all people do is come up with ridiculous BS to demerit it. If Jett doesn't line up outdoors and Hunter wins damn near every moto the same people would go yEah BuT JeTt wAsnT tHeRE 😭

If Jett and Hunter were out, Deegan would have quite a few wins, plus the title.  Guess what people like you would be saying?

It will get lost in the sea of comments in this thread, but I would like to say good reporting by @ML512 for his explanation on the odd decision made by the team to remove the "helper" peg for moto one, because I hadn't really heard anyone explain why it was off the bike. I'm not sure I understand the timing, nor the logic considering what was at stake, but that's above my pay grade.

Also good insight from him on the behind the scenes look at how the injury was handled at the rig and how Jetts demeanor when no one was really watching confirmed how much it was affecting him. Honestly, based on his moto 2 ride, it sounded like had to dig pretty deep to get through it. That they had to "immobilize" his ankle with tape was interesting to learn.

I wish that was made clearer after the first moto on the broadcast.. it was hard to believe there were no updates from the track reporters to try and get some answers as to how / why / when / if.. given how big of a storyline and how out of character that ride was from Jett. Usually they are back at the rig asap.. looking for anyone willing to make a statement.

The one's failing the idiot test are the one's trying to pull the wool over our eyes and telling us we did not see what we just saw.  It's the biggest display of gaslighting I've seen in a while. And yes, we don't believe Jett is being truthful.  His interview with Weege certainly came across as disingenuous and somewhat awkward, so we don't have to premise this on the idea that Hunter would want the title gifted to him because I don't think even Hunter knew what was going on.

And again, pissing all over Honda? It's not even remotely believable and something people of their caliber ha sin their mind. For what, a few hundred k extra compared to Jett winning?

If he's injured, they're going to send him for tests, and they might not find anything.     We also don't know if he has an injury clause that could change his pay for not starting a moto.

He has already been injured for this season, he could start the moto the just DND, not start the moto at all,  or ride around in 10th to be sure Hunter win🤦

People think this is some kind of major strategy play that they chose to play out the last 2 motos of the year. They had all season to handle this 😂

I have loved the Lawrence brothers since they first hit the AMA and the 250s.

But after this fiasco I have to say that I really hope Prado, Deegan, and Coenen--and I am not a particularly huge fan of those 3--raise their game to the point where the brothers are never again in a position to pull those kind of deceptive tactics (in my opinion) to control who wins a championship.  Today fan perceptions, the sport, Honda, and the 450 championship are less than they were before Saturday, when all those were used as tools to enrich one family at the expense of everything else.
