In other words: He only did it for himself but he didn't use his brain.

I’m as big a jet fan as they come but everybody saw what we saw. Jetts plan was clearly to just get a shit start so he could race forward as normal and end up behind hunter, but then hunter in true hunter form managed to blow it at the last race for the 20th time in a row by following 1mm behind the guy who crashes after every holeshot.
I wanted hunter to finally win one and he had been the better rider all season, but when he tossed it away by following deegan too close jett should have abandoned the plan. Instead he tainted the championship by making it so god damn obvious. That sucks. Sucks for hunter, sucks for the fans, sucks for the sport. Jett did this before with kenny with the baby gift. Ppl were pissed after that too. It was hunters fault for following so gd damn close so it was what it was he tossed it and jett should have just raced fwd. Maybe in time the stink will wear off of this idk, but that was bullshit.

He is coming back from an extremely serious injury that takes a long time to fully heal. He was clearly favoring his ankle during both motos.
They put the custom peg back on for the 2nd moto after taking it off for moto 1.
Everyone whines about the broadcast always pushing convoluted story lines and not focusing on the racing. Seems some of y'all have the same issue.
I'm not gonna sit here and say that he didn't dial it back a bit to let hunter win, no one can truly know that 100% either way. However, I fully believe that he aggravated the ankle. Unless he's really good at faking it, his riding was much worse than just cruising around.
I wouldn't be surprised if deep down Jett feels a little bad for his brother and wanted to see him win so sub consciousl he was just off and not giving it 100%. And honestly that doesn't really bother me. Hunter had a hell of a season and was well deserving of a title. I'm happy that Kenny won the SX title and I'm happy that Hunter won the MX title.

I think he saved it for moto 2. The other motos where he fell on the start he charged towards to front and didn’t have as much in the tank for moto 2 so I think in hopes he could get that elusive moto win he saved his energy. And it would have worked if Prado wasn’t absolutely ripping. Obviously the Lawrence bros were thinking title and not focused on battling for the moto win.

The have plenty of money to gain. Hunter's contract will be much bigger next time around and he probably had a higher championship bonus amount than Jett since Jett is already the highest paid MX racer.
If Jett dropped out then his entire team and family would’ve been like what the fuck are you doing bro you have a title to fight for!? Jett would have had a much more difficult time bullshitting all of those people and the rest of the world in that scenario. The best way to throw the race and avoid scrutiny was to get a terrible start. But Hunter screwed that up, ironically, and needed a second bail out which is what made it look so bad. Jett not only got an uncharacteristically horrendous start in the biggest race of the year, but he then rolled around in the back of the pack until Hunter caught up.

Seems a lot like Jett tried to give it to Hunter, and that Hunter winning would be the most profitable for the family.
And don't get me wrong, I understand if i was a new fan, didn't know the sport, didn't know the back story to this season or the Lawrence camp, with the outside looking in with no context, it looks odd.
But we are all die hard fans who follow this sport closely,. we Know Jett's injury has been 50/50 all season pending on the track and obstacles.. We know Jett went to his old foot peg (still a dumb move) , we know he over jumped Deegs Double in press and tweaked it. We know Hunter hurt his wrist in press. We know both have multi year contracts. Both make millions. both just had a genuinely terrible day with a lot of pressure and a lot emotions. We just saw them be human for a weekend.
I genuinely believe Jett was hurting, the mental side was weighing on him between Hunters first turn crash and the foot peg change. Jett too emotional and looked like he couldn't figure out if he needed to pull off the track from pain or try and give Hunter the battle for the title he deserved.
either way, Jett wasn't himself all season, Hunter was the man to beat and even if Jett went alien mode, i dont think the outcome changes. Hunter has been the better man for the past 12 months.
