I would JETT & hunters bikes handle amazing. Too many electrical plugs on these bikes.  Brutal hit though, I know that feeling I hit a steep ramp for a triple & the back wheel shot to the sky . At the highest point & the front wheel below me I bailed. Landed on hard pack ok, then the bike is doing hyper 360,s it snapped me in the lower leg good & I blew my acl.  Pedro’s 95 sx bike pneumatic quick shock rebound & butter forks.  Initial shock is that your going die or wheel chair. Today yet my shock has to hv slow rebound . Last yr my shock kicked me sideways off jumps it threw my confidence off hitting jump faces it was so bad. I got a revalve but 5 1/2 months of injections didn’t do much , so I didn’t ride yet & weather sucks yet. I quit a lot of trucking jobs ovr dangerous equipment. & should’ve quit others sooner then I wouldn’t hv all my disk in my neck blown out , some in my back, blow 2 nerves out of my shoulder, etc, etc.

I don’t quite see the brake stall that others see…. It looks like an old school kill switch failure.  Can that even happen today?

I don’t understand the guys saying Chase stalled it in the air by hitting the rear brake?
It’s common practice to use the rear brake in the air. This is a modern efi four stroke, not some choked up old dunga from yesteryear. You shouldn’t be able to stall them in the air!

Shit show going from bad to worse over in the green rig, what a disaster.
Glad Sexton was able to walk away.

Yes you can stall them in the air by jabbing the rear brake and not pulling the clutch in.

Of course but this is not a come try day, nor is it, or shouldn't be, a poorly tuned bike.

Edit: please see the screenshot of Chases's comment 🤞

You can see him pin the throttle and then decide pretty early to bail on it... that plus no sound makes me concur with the thought that the bike died. Jeez, that guy can't catch a break. He was limping pretty good, too - I hope he didn't break a leg or an ankle.

I had a wristpin circlip break in my 79 RM125 and it fell into the crank and jammed it. Locked up in the air. Over the bars at 20 feet up, snapped my left femur when I hit, The good old days. Wink

Nice to see you back.

Chase has a disproportionate amount of freak accident crashes that are not his fault. like the rock that jammed his throttle wide open, the front brake locking up during outdoors last year, now bike randomly cutting out over a massive jump

As many others have stated, the bike 100% had to have quit running mid air, otherwise that seems like an easy adjustment mid air with a little throttle.  What other explanation could there be?  Hope he is alright

He could have stalled the motor when he hit the rear brake.

I so abused that thing. I was 18, maybe 125 lbs and I didn’t really know much about anything. Oh - this jump landed to flat too. Smile

Good riders make mistakes when their head isn't in it and Chase's head definitely isn't in it under this Kawi tent. If Chase is out there thinking about somethign other than riding, understandable given the last week, he easily could have had a brainfart and stalled the bike. He forgot where he was on the track in sx earlier this year and that was wildly uncharacteristic.

Brother, brake tapping is as second nature to Chase Sexton as wiping his ass.

Your brain doesn’t just completely short out while straight jumping that jump. That jump is big enough to have his attention, he didn’t just black out.

Sounds like a recipe for a two-piece frame. 😄

I have flashbacks of flat-landing my '78 YZ125 - it always felt like my feet were bent into upside-down "U"s. 😁

I'm convinced I'd be 6" taller if I hadn't tried jumping bikes back in the '70s. 😆

Brother, he is human and humans make mistakes. Tomac crashed in sx this year when he mashed his rear brake so I don't really see this as being all that far off or implausible.

That bike died when he tapped the brake. So either he didn't pull that clutch lever in far enough or long enough, or one of the mechanics, who are all just as tuned in as Chase, didn't reassemble that motorcycle properly. Routing a clutch cable is as second nature to that mechanic as wiping his ass. One can assume that the clutch was at least partially operational since he rode the bike off the track. TLDR, someone f%$#ed up and we don't know who and probably never will.

It turns out that the post was last September.  I didn't see the date.  He hasn't posted to his X page since last year.

He did not post that the injury today is ending his season.
