It’s a hard one, who is coming in healthy?  Who is prepared for TGO?  Not too sure but expect this:

  1. Hunta
  2. Eli
  3. Prado
  4. Jett

I like this running order

After seeing several top 5 picks from folks here, I am surprised JCoop isn't included in any of those picks. Maybe not for a round 1 win, but top 3 or 5 is completely reasonable I think. The dude is super solid and his speed is without question. Just some food for thought...

If Jett comes out and wins first round, could be a long summer for the guys. My vote is Hunter wins opening round.

If Prado, Deegan, and Webb is the podium, these servers will be fried.

Likely H. Lawrence… He is young, healthy and hungry. Has something to prove. Sexton is fast but has little proven consistency. Prado could show but he has not proven consistency outdoors either, yet, but will def be there with HL and CS. Roczen and Webb have not shown outdoor season long durability and tolerance in quite some time. J. Coop can only pull it off if everyone else is banged up. Barcia can’t keep his mind in check for a whole season. J. Lawrence “looks” to be not quite 100% but could be a ruse? Ferrandis def has the talent but I think injuries have sucked the life out of championship ability. Most of the other guys with exception of Tomac don’t have what it takes to be a champion outdoors. No dig on anyone but just the way it is.

Tomac is my fav, never have hidden that. I wonder if he is banged up a little still? I think this outdoor season will be a pivotable one for him. If he doesn’t have a master plan for retirement yet, I think this MX season could def initiate one for him. I don’t believe there has been a better outdoor rider than a healthy Tomac in the last 15 years. It sure has been fun to watch. Hope he has something in the tank for the whole MX season, and if decides to call it a career can go out top three and healthy.

Edit: Forgot deegs. Not a big fan, but think he will have a couple few good rides, maybe a moto or two. I think the big boys and the big bikes outdoors will present him with some challenges he didn’t have to face in 250’s. He will have to devote more energy to riding and less to bumping his gums, grinning and showboatin.

another edit: I didnt pay attention, thought it was a overall championship not a Pala overall my bad. But stand by the MX championship thoughts for what its worth. Hunter still fav at Pala.

Let’s not forget how Jett came back from injury at Pala last year and was 4 seconds faster then the entire field in qualifying.

As someone that has dealt with a severe ankle injury albeit it different bones than Jett let’s look at a few things.

the bones he’s dealing with are a problem with heel loading mostly I.e. walking . Do we heel load on a mx bike? Don’t think so.

has issue with range of motion. Do our boots allow full range of motion? No we want quite the opposite and I would guess his ankle is taped before going in the boot

I can say then when back on the bike my ankle felt better in the boot than out, go figure

With my limited access to premier recovery I was back riding bowls on a bmx bike with a brace on @6 months post op. and moto at the 9th month.

In saying that, if Jett doesn’t win he podiums with HJ and or Tomac or Prado. Deegs and Sexton battle for 4th.

That would be easy to forget because it never happened.  In Q1, Jett's fastest lap was 2:15.09 and the second fastest was from Eli at 2:17.275.  In Q2, Jett had the fastest lap at 2:14.379, and Chase was second fastest at 2:15.663

I haven’t seen Deegan be better than Hunter yet, so for me he has to prove that first before thinking about Jett (a healthy Jett that is) but I don’t doubt anything on Deegan getting there.

Agreed. Although I voted for Deegs…I truly only believe he’ll consistently beat Jett if Jett isn’t 100% recovered.

Having some experience with a broken talus, Jett will walk with a limp for years, fortunately it is actually easier to ride than it is to walk. So don't be surprised if Jett comes out of the gate firing.

If Jett comes out and 1-1 at Pala... that's got to break the confidence of some.

What is Jetts Win % at Pala over his career?

1- Hunter, 2-Prado, 3-Tomac, 4-Danger, 5-Sexton. (I don’t think Jett’ll win, but everything is unknown with him. He’s still injured.)
