Who knows. Wait a day or two so he can get results from a MRI at least.
Hope he’s not sidelined by injury. Wouldn’t be surprised if he rests and gets ready for outdoors. Or comes back to salvage third place. I hope we see him back last two rounds at least, could be his last year for the local rounds.
Could be a good opportunity to get a bit of a head start on outdoor prep, with the expected competition I think he’s going to need as much as he can get. That’s assuming he doesn’t have an injury that will require significant time off the bike though. I would think if he’s healthy enough he’ll race the final few, there’s a decent chance this is his last season and I doubt he wants his supercross career to end like that.
Tomac has looked bad in the whoops since day 1 on the KTM. He has had many close calls and lost time in the whoops all year, which used to be his strength. It will be hard for him to trust the bike in the whoops again IMO.
Perhaps it is fitting if Daytona ends up being his last SX win.

I’m not a Tomac fan nor a hater, but Daytona won’t be his last sx win ever.
Phoenix 2001. MC was the defending champ and started the season going 1-3-1 at the first three rounds. RC caught and passed him at Phoenix. MC never won another SX race.
How much 3rd place pays in championship? I bet its good money so worth to ride couple races more.
The ktm steel frame is a pile of shit through the whoops. Everyone knows it.
They should just make an alloy frame bike purely for sx, and sell it as the sx, and the steel frame as the mx
Has that always been the case with the “modern” KTM’s, going back to the Dungey era?
Mookie and Prado look good in the whoops.
Chase also looked good in them last year.
I doubt Tomac has a 3rd place bonus in his contract, most of the top guy only get a first or second bonus.
Yeah, Daytona 2030....
It didnt look that bad of a crash, i wonder what hip protection he uses ?
I’m a big Tomac guy, but if you’re waiting for an injury update you may want to go grab a burger and check back in a few months.
Eli hasn’t had elite whoop speed ever imo. He’s been above average but never as good as mookie or Craig type.
The injury might not necessarily be impact related.
It was reported to be a hip injury. How else do you do that . other than impact?
If he rung his bell, then maybe they didnt want to say.
Pit Row
He could have aggravated a lingering issue. Hip flexor strain, etc.
Dude had some great whoop speed on the kawi.
the hip joint is just like your shoulder joint. Torn labrum and rotator cuff injuries are common in hips.
Those injuries can happen from years of pounding the joint, not from a single impact fall.
Hip joint pain is brutal. I have a torn labrum in my right hip and it makes a lot of things very difficult. I certainly wouldn’t be blasting through whoops. Even crossing my legs and sleeping on my side is painful. Standing is painful.
Truth. But he's made up for his lack of whoop mastery with his quasar speed everywhere else on the track.
At this point in his career I would suspect Tomac races for championships. Since that is likely out of reach I would guess he is done for SX. Maybe he race Denver only because it is a home race. I suspect he misses this week
I had a hip injury 20 years ago, and my back still hurts every time I ride from it. Hip effects dang near every muscle in your body.
Steve should have asked him on the plane.
Hey Eli, if you can make it we sure would love to see you in Denver! I'm bringing friends!
I would be surprised to see him back before MX. I’m guessing the injury must be pretty damn severe and/or painful to sideline a guy as tough as Eli in the middle of a championship he can win. He finished a race with a broken leg!
edit- Photo won’t upload, he posted to his instagram that he’s not broken and def hurting basically. Taking it day by day.
See, he got the results of the MRI and gave a update right away.
actually, Denver (Lakewood) is not a "home" race for Eli. Cortez is 230 miles from Denver. It's in the same state yeah but that's lazy calling it "home" because it's not.
