What was the coolest/most badass moment for you in Moto?

2/10/2026 12:14pm Edited Date/Time 2/10/2026 12:15pm

8th grader going to Unadilla for the first GP in 78. First bike on the track was Semics' Can Am and he was shooting grass 10 feet in the air. Etched on my brain. Also etched is Pat Moroney and Magoo waving at each other in the air coming into and out of Screw U (the real Screw U, what is now known as Gravity Cavity. Don't get me started)

And third, RV's absolute depantsing on the world on his 250 at Budd's in 07.

I've posted this before, but Stewart coming from out of no where and blowing around the outside of Jessemen after the ski jump in Washougal 2002 was unreal to see in person. Go to 40:18.

Hey it's the Motocrossed girl at 27:58!

Bradshaw took that corner even quicker going around Hughes in '96 (13:49). Both passes are next level.  (The Henry/LaRocco drag race at 40:20 is worth seeing again also)

Cooper Webb moto 2 at the 2016 MXGP of Charlotte is pretty high up on my list.

Watching the first rider(s) jump the Suicide Mountain step up at the Saddleback National 1984.

I was 15, standing at the base of the first ledge with hundreds of other spectators during practice. You could hear every rider approaching ( you could not see them coming up the ledge, it was too steep) but each rider would shut off as they got close to the top of the first ledge.

Then one 500cc rider (Eric Eaton if my memory is accurate) didn't shut off and launched probably 30' straight up over our heads to clear the next ledge going up the mountain. The whole mountain area erupted in cheers, it was so bad ass.

That was my first (and last) time to ever go to Saddleback, so I had never witnessed a jump that big before. Dozens of riders starting jumping it after that, but watching it for the first time was just an experience I will never forget.

Finishing on the podium in the 2020 World Vet Team Cup race and spraying champagne with the likes of Doug Dubach, Mike Brown and Sean Lipanovich. Nothing in moto will ever top that for me. My two Polish homies and I managed to put Poland on the box that year (and yeah, all three of us were actually born in Poland). I think that moment gives me more joy and pride than any other athletic, academic or professional achievement.

Awesome. That is me on the left (Team Puerto Rico) with pink gloves.  Seeing you guys up there on the podium was awesome. Arek (your teammate) is a great dude and racer.

Magoo winning all the motos in MX and Trophy des nations no question about it, the same year he won Superbikers. In all of motorcycling....Duhamel winning Daytona when he couldn't walk, literally needing to be lifted off and on his bike. Really too many to list, Decoster winning after dying in the operating room, Tripes winning at 16 years 0 months, Roberts winning on the TZ750 dirt tracker. Just so many heroics in our sport, makes me look a jaundice eye on many of these young pro racers, sorry.

ONE OF THE MOST DOMINATE PERFORMANCES IN MX HISTORY... MAGOO IN 82

I agree, that jump was really BIG.  Wide open all the way up or you were not gonna make it.

For me it's gotta be Zach Osborne's 2017 Las Vegas comeback ride. Wrecked on the first lap, his bike pinned under another riders so the time loss was that much greater, rode like his life depended on it all the way to Savatgy and full sending it on the 2nd to last corner on the final lap to win the championship. Absolutely wild night.

Cool thread ! I have too many to pick only one.

Seeing Doug Henry smoke everyone on the then brand new YZM400 at the 97 Vegas SX finale.

RJ on the podium in LA saying "Go have a Coors Lite, I'm going to" after his epic battle with Ward. If I remember right he fell more than once, and charged back to 2nd in the race but wrapped up the title ?. Don't quote me lol. Also that night we had parked in a neighborhood near the coliseum to save money on parking, got turned around after the race and heard gun shots on the next street over while walking around trying to find my truck. Epic race with a healthy shot of fear and adrenaline afterwards. Will never forget that night.

When RC went off the track at Glen Helen and tumbled down the hill. He went right by us on his way back to the track.

We were right there when Alessi stood on Tedesco's front wheel trying to keep him from picking up his bike first.

LaRocco going down Mt. St. Helens faster than anyone, by a lot.

Getting passed by McGrath and Pastrana at a Carlsbad Gran Prix.

Watching Jesse Nelson RAIL the left hand turn after Taledega before the first uphill. I don't think I've seen anyone go around a corner that fast, before or after. And he did it lap after lap.

Camping by Bell mountain. We rode over to the former VMC where they had some giant doubles built. The place was nearly empty besides a couple trucks and bikes. We rode up to these house high piles of dirt about 75 ? feet apart and were wondering what they were for, then we heard a bike coming and a full on panic rev, looked up and saw a guy upside down like 30 feet over our heads. My wife screamed, she thought she was watching someone die, the guy landed and then did it again. That was our first exposure to giant freestyle jumps. It was Mike Cinqmars and Shae Bentley taking turns, we sat there with our jaws dropped until they were done.

As a spectator:  The entire day of 2007 MXoN and 'Poto beating them all easily on the 250.

As a rider:  1979 Indian Dunes, finishing second to Rick Johnson in the 125 Pro class.  At the time it didn't seem like much...  But looking back, it's a great memory.

97' MC at the old Metrodome was cool. First win that year if I remember correctly.

Two of them from 2013ish....Fifth row view of K-Dub putting his balls on the bar pad for what I think was his last transfer ever at Dallas. Was also at the Metrodome that year when Dungey ran down Villo for the win. Crowd went absolutely nuts.

Watching Kevin end RC's streak at Unadilla in 02'. It seemed like they weren't more than a couple bike lengths apart for both motos.

Was at the top of the hill at Millville when Reedy got punted in 2011.

Stew's first practice session heater lap at Millville in 03' was jaw dropping. I have no idea how Kawi kept those 125s alive for entire motos.

J-Marts second moto win last summer.

I share a few of those with you.  Rc and james on the track together during practice in 02-03.  Being there for chads 2011 ejection.

Minni 13' when the Ryan's went at it is still the loudest race I've ever been to.

I need to add Reynard catching and passing RC at Dilla in 98 on the Bill's Pipes Suzuki. We were going nuts

That was epic! I was there, RR was wide open the whole time, remembering him coming around the corners wide open with feet on the pegs!

I was at the top of the hill at Unadilla in 1978 at the Trans-Am where Roger DeCoster and Bob Hannah collided... They had been bouncing off each other the whole moto and it was an extremely intense battle. I was a kid and DeCoster seemed (and was) totally invincible to me at that point. To see Bob Hannah putting the screws to Roger and making him really work for it not only made it a spectacular race but was nothing short of mind blowing... Nether was too willing to give an inch to the other- which certainly precipitated the ultimate collision sending them both to the ground. The feeling was intense, and to hear and see an open class 1970's factory bike being completely rung out under the hands of these two while it chopped up dark chocolate chunks of Unadilla soil into the October sky is one that I will take with me to Heavenly Hills MX park as certainly my most coolest/most badass moment in Moto...!!!
