Outdoors only on a bonus heavy contract and move to the farm is the only way this has a chance of working, otherwise the best predictor of the future is the past. This will also work for the team, there will be a couple in sick bay by the end of indoors who can’t answer the bell for motocross

Love the guy, but it’s either do something like this or go all in on a title in Canada. The meat grinder of SX doesn’t work for Ty

Besides Max, he'd do no worse in SX than the rest of the Starr rider.

Davies or even Brown coming back from injury are way quicker. I’m not saying he can’t ride SX at all but he inevitably bangs himself up every year and doesn’t come into an outdoor season prepared- then it’s a revolving door of fitness excuses, team politics, puking into helmets etc.

The guy is incredibly fast and talented outdoors, he really deserves a clean run at it

2024 a first overall and a second overall at Ironman and red budd on the 250. Then finished 2025 with a 4 and 5th overall in SMX. Thats legit. No accident he finished that high… He’s finished in the top 10 in a lot of races… Still fairly young… Its worth the gamble to take a chance on him.

Sounds like he’s taking a chance on himself.  Kind of surprised that he doesn’t have at least a smaller team option.  But he’s good on a 450, just troubled by the depth of the class right now.  And not sure he should be messing with SX.  Focus on outdoors and get the bike right, the conditioning right, his head right and some confidence built up and see what he can do.

Select SX races and then outdoors for him and playoffs. Seems the best route for him on his own program.

Sounds like he’s taking a chance on himself because it’s the only option he has. From the talk on here over the years, he’s burned a lot of his teams in the past. I was a fan, but seems like he doesn’t care enough to put in the work once the ink dries on the contract.

I want the guy to succeed but where there is smoke there is fire. Either him or his family are shady or hard to work with.

As mentioned above with wins and top 5s he is putting in the work. Those don’t come by accident.

I still say kawi and pc made a stupid decision putting him on a 250. They grabbed him when he was doing really well on his privateer 450. Shoulda kept him on a 450 and theyd have a solid dude.

I think he sealed his fate with a lot of teams when he ghosted the Bar X Suzuki team for A1 a few years ago.

I like the kid, but he seems like Justin Hill back in the day. Just doesn't want to put in the work, and from what some people have said, his dad can be difficult.

Hill still doesn't put in the work or try. His world soupy was typical. Just ride around and take money.

Sounds like he's funding his own ride to be "out there and be seen" until someone gets injured and he can fill in.

I get that that is the general vibe around the Hills. And some of their past validates that But, Justin finished 8th in the most prestigious dirtbike series in the world and was the second highest non-factory rider. If you think that's possible without full dedication,  then youre crazy..

Impressive when you think about it. Especially in a stacked ass class.

I can't remember the exact illness but listen to Hills recent interview with Swapmoto where he explained what was up with his health post smx going into wsx.

That's fluff. How many guys finished the series? He was beating out only privateers to score that 8th. He made the rounds you take that away from him.

He got 7th at Daytona…. Pretty incredible for someone that just rides around for a paycheck.

Exactly, he's probably as fit as most, however not everyone can be #1, maybe his talent puts him where he is, just great.

The fact Mitch let him go so quickly when he seems very forgiving and offers lots of second chances in recent years tells me Ty might not be the best to work with

Justin is incredibly talented, but the grind doesn't appeal to him. I can't say I blame him, but I can say he hasn't always handled opportunities well.

I’d say he’s looking pretty good on the 450.  Rooting for you Ty, give em hell!

What kills me about this sport and it's fans. He can run top 10 on anything so far not counting 450 SX yet and fans say he is not in shape or giving it 100 percent lol.

The kid is in early 20s and has no job. He should be fit. I don’t think fitness seems to be his issue. Being professional and doing what you said you would seems to be the problem.

Or the fact that his job was to show up to race, and there have been multiple mentions of Mitch wanting him back at the races in the summer when he was ready, and he wasn’t showing up.

How would you feel if your coworker/employee was a great worker, but only showed up on his terms. And after you let him go, he took months to give you your company truck back.

Not saying he makes a great team rider. Have you ever seen his IG. I don't think him or his family conform to everyone's thinking. I don't see him begging for a ride or a go fund me account. If he stays on his program this year he will struggle in sx and be top 10 outdoors.

Plenty of fans like him. Like it or not though, he's been a part of teams with the best equipment, and left questionably.
