Are we talking about how the tabs that you must pry on to release the lens are incredibly small and hard to get proper leverage on with your fingers?
I'm always fearful that I'm going to rip a fingernail off trying to get the tab open.

That said, I believe they've updated the lens removal process with the Prospect 2.0, but I haven't tried them myself. I personally prefer the Fury to the Prospect but based on this thread I'm guessing no updates to the Fury are coming anytime soon.

I don't know. I gave up and had the parts guy do it for me.

Seems like they're going heavy into high end mountain bikes. And I mean the actual bikes, not just gear. I wonder if they have some kind of competitive advantage there?

Scott already produces high end Mountain bikes and Road bikes. It is all under the Scott Sports brand. They are not expanding into anything, if anything they would be contracting and downsizing the bicycle side as the bicycle industry is in major turmoil at the moment with several large brands closing their doors this year including Nukeproof, GT Bicycles and others!  And KTM learned the hard way with mountain bikes as well.

A YouTuber recently did a video explains a lot about the company. Check it out.

EDIT: I see someone also posted the same above. But still worth a watch if you want to understand the brand, don't miss this one.

this is great. their bikes are very cleverly designed in typical swiss fashion, but their aftersale support, parts supply, documentation, and warranty process are all abysmal. e.g. they recalled a popular mtb for a loose shock pivot bolt on an INTERNALLY housed shock and failed to post it anywhere outside of a nebulous tsb for their dealers. failure of the shock bolt results in destruction of the frame. rather than notify owners, they just YOLO'D because they didnt want to deal with the hassle of actually supporting customers. everything they make is awesome is theory but absolutely shit in practice/execution.

they really should just leave the US market rather than half-ass it like they have been for years.

****also, it was like pulling teeth just trying to get a light transmission chart for their moto goggle lenses. zero fucking documenation on what any of the tints actually do. i think they had to send me somethign from the snow side. just a delulu company****

https://www.reddit.com/r/BikeMechanics/comments/zfrw1k/anyone_else_incredibly_frustrated_with_scott/

feel like recently, things with Scott have just gotten worse. Everything from B2B communication, dealer support in general with replacement parts and warranties, and also just in general their manufacturing decisions, especially with the Sparks?

They recently had the whole product recall with the shock mounting bolt on the Spark, various design flaws in the frame, numerous electrical issues with eRides, really slow warranty process and a seriously lacking B2B support.

We've had two cross-country racers in their mid teens come in with cracked sparks that happened quite close to the recall, and Scott straight up wouldn't do anything for them because they decided they wouldn't warranty any cracked frames as a result of the bad shock mounting bolt. Not even send them a front triangle or offer them at crash replacement cost. Then we had another guy with a Spark RC who DID get a new front triangle more than a month after the recall, and after waiting nearly two months for it to arrive, they didn't even send the frame with the proper frame plugs or bearings. And why are they using plastic headset cups? It just doesn't make any sense.

We've had to wait more than a week at times to get responses on quite simple emails, almost taken close to two months for small replacement parts & warranties, and have noticed a massive lack of eRide support in regards to replacement parts, info and general response.

Recently worked a bike shop which carried Scott (after using my moto connection with my local Scott rep to get them in the door). Overall they're great bikes, but in my experience they were hard to sell for a few reasons:

-Majority of their frames are engineered with a squatted front end; ideal for a racer, but not welcoming to a new rider.
-Scott has abysmal pricing on most of their equipment (except for some of their road bikes). Distrubutors rarely offered wholesale discounts compared to other brands.
-They're a fucking nightmare to build and I've yet to hear ONE bike mechanic claim to enjoy putting together Scotts.

That said, I remember them being a solid brand to work with. Their struggle is isn't mutually exclusive to most brands in the cycling world, but like most premium manufacturers, Scott is feeling the pinch quicker and harder than others.

That’s the goggles I remember! A little higher price, but I knew they wouldn’t be $15.95 anymore.

Thanks!

They really fucked up the lens swapping system design with the Prospect. I really don't understand how they didn't invest in R&D and new molds to fix it.

It's a deal breaker for anyone that has been in contact with the competitions offerings.

The 2.0 actually use the outrigger to unlock the pins so yes much better.

Stewart is now under contract with 100%.

Justin Cooper is now with Scott.

They still have Anderson and PC Kawi.

Phoenix Racing, PRMX, and BarX are all with Scott.

Edit: BarX switched to Alpinestars.

I think you will see a lot more pro's in them in the future, they are making a big push right now.

I wear Scott's because no one else that I know of makes transition lenses. They're great in the woods.

They just put the Prospect 2 out this year. I was surprised at the lack of Scoot letting people know there was a Prospect 2.0 . It just kinda came out and looks very similar when not viewed side by side its even hard to tell which is which at first. I see that Spooner posted that they will be around, I trust that he has some solid intel on that .

I have not tried the V2 version out yet. I have a mix of Prospects and Alpinestars Supertech goggles right now.  I have the Prospects setup for cold weather with dual lens and wear the Supertechs anytime I can. I just have more lens colors in the prospects since I have been using them for years.

I hope they keep the goggles around, I will try out the new Prospects, but I'm in love with the Supertechs for most of the time. Until I got some supertechs the Prospect was the best fit for my giant schnoz. But now I use them both and until I build up my collection of Supertechs I'll keep running the mix.

I've sold some of them , but have never used them myself.  How quickly do they darken and how quickly to the clear up?  I should just get a lens and try them myself. My customer loves them and will only buy the goggles with those lenses now. I always forget to ask him how quickly they change.

The photo I posted on the first page is a light sensitive/transition lens. It’s all I wear now. They really are good.
The lens is great unless it’s the most overcast day ever (basically storming) and you’re deep in the woods. IMG 6653 1.jpeg?VersionId=4ha7..8xG7VX.kK5nZVnv9uu

They're great for dual-sport riding too when you're in and out of tree cover on the pavement. It's the only lens I'll run on the street other than clear. The mirrored lenses tend to reflect too much light and cause bright spots in certain parts of the lens. Definitely not what you want when riding on the street. Even the Supertech lenses will do it too.

100% has photochromic lenses too for the non armega/armatic models but no tear off posts which is strange.  I run them for my cycling glasses most of the time and they are great for days when you don't have consistent light conditions.

Prospect 2.0 have a little more room for your nose than the 1.0.

Fast enough I don't have issues racing Hare Scrambles that go from woods to open pasture and back.

People complaining about how “hard” it is to change the lens must be the type that pay people to do their bike work.

First couple times it took me a while and was a pain but now I can change a Scott lens in like 3 minutes.

The single pane photochromaic lens, and the Amplifier lenses are a lot clearer than the other Scott lenses.

Got a pair of Scott Prospects in the spring for $60 and they have been great. Still on RMATV for that price if anyone needs a pair.

If they are that easy to pop out then I don’t trust them when a rock smacks the lens. No thanks.

I knew a guy named Scott Smith and understandably it was a hard choice for him to decide which goggles to buy.

To me it’s just not a necessity. It’s not like I need to rush or change lenses every ride and I’d rather them be cheaper and protective than anything else.

So, just to be clear…

We’ve gone from someone saying that Scott is leaving moto to Scott actually spending more money as a Team Sponsor on a popular 250 team?

Oh, ok.

It must just be another day on the Interwebsthingy. 🤣

We are human beings capable of engineering systems that service rapidly and are robust. An F1 wheel isn't going to pop off when it has an impact just because it only took 1.8 seconds to change.

Agreed

Scott is a huge Motocross Goggle market leader distributed by just about every USA distributor so it is doubtful that they drop a successful program.
