I don’t think he’s willing to admit or come to grips with the fact that he’s not the fastest guy out there so it’s easier for him to go look at his results and go “well yeah, I wasn’t giving it 100% so that’s not my real result.”

He’s really tarnishing his name/brand by doing it though and what a bad reputation to have as the “whiney quitter.”

1st to 15th. 😬

Its a disgrace. No one thought his perfected Mike Alessi race prowess was going to carry him to the top here on these tracks, but wtf are we watching here??

Figured this would turn into a euro vs America argument. As an American I was pumped to have him come over. When it comes to MXDN I’m hardcore USA. When it’s our SX and MX I personally want to just see bad dudes do cool things and good racing. Jorge was another bad dude to add to the mix and I thought it was great he chose to be here. I have given him the benefit of the doubt with all the new stuff he’d have to figure out but once he started bashing the bike and visibly giving up I’m out. He has not handled this well at all and has hurt his reputation. Not even the fact he’s not competitive, but attitude alone.

He forgot to clarify that it's the AMA pace that he's not comfortable with. Looked like an indoor cat that snuck outside for the first time when he got passed by RJ in moto 1.

RJ stock wayyy up…..I enjoy the Gp”s ….sort of morphing into a US feeder system….Aussies win MXDN and take over as top producing MX/SX country…. Jett & Hunter on top right now….Dazzy is the new Rogger Decosters…..how am I doing?

Prado is like a injured fish in shark tank.....the AMA  boys know he's struggling and are pushing hard for passing and beating last years MXGP champ.   Riders see the #70 in front of them and they smell blood in the water.

RV raced four times in MXGP, he won one race. Prado has raced how many times in the states, with how many podiums?

There’s a lot of unknown stuff that went on that weekend RV won the MXGP.

The riders were pretty much in protest about poor facilities, poor fuel, poor medical cover- none of them were interested. I think there was a video of Desalle sitting on his bike after Moto 1 holding it on the limiter with it misfiring like a bitch in a display of the fuel they’d been supplied was no good! Tommy Searle said there was no way he was hitting the big jumps with the unreliable fuel they were using.
RV took full advantage of it to click off two wins.
He couldn’t get close when the others weren’t in protest.

So, this thread about RV or Prado. So, Prado is doing well, is that your point? Prado chose all of this, all of it. Where to race, who to race for, what to race, and how to prepare. He also stated several times he would beat Jett, Hunter, Eli, and Chase. To accommodate this season he used agents, lawyers, managers and many persons advise to get this arrangement. He is being paid a small fortune to fulfill his end of the deal. This is the point of the AMA season where many riders are injured, tired, or over it all together trying to finish to get to the off season, and Jorge is still languishing back to 15th. And if this thread is indeed about RV, when he did not want to fulfill his end of the bargain in GPs, he ended it all. His results are not a testament of MXGP, a fine series with fine riders, it is a testament of a spoiled pro athlete.

All enjoyed bashing Prado? Let me ask you a question: What are "the big" results from Jason Anderson on that green bike and where is he now? Sometimes a team works hard but doesn't get any results because of politics, ego, ... examples: Kawasaki 450 in the USA, Yamaha 450 in Europe. Both bikes are competitive if you look over the pond.

You could ask yourself what results Kawasaki has got since signing Davi Millsaps and Will Hahn...

Well, since you asked…….

I want to see him in the mix and do well as much as anyone, but watching his body language through the year it’s so easy to see that he just quits.  I can’t imagine being a kawi team guy working your butt off to make someone happy for them to just quit, cruise around and blame your team.

The flip-side to consider... What if you're the rider, watching your diet, following a training plan to the nth degree, taking early nights, not living life...
The flip-side to consider... What if you're the rider, watching your diet, following a training plan to the nth degree, taking early nights, not living life because you need to take rest hours, only to turn up and find the team haven't given you what you've asked for?? Im not saying my 'take' is correct, but we need to keep an open mind that just maybe, what he's telling the press about the bike being bad might just be right..

Kawasaki USA  Race Director: Bruce Stjernstrom feeling about parting ways with Prado right now

the whole thing is a dumpster fire at this point for both Kawi and Prado. The relationship under the tent has to be miserable. I predict he'll finish SMX and then there will be a PR stating that due to unforeseen factors, Prado's heading home. Perhaps pull a JA21 and Prado will say he has "personal issues to attend to" and he'll be on the  next plane home. What a wild chapter in MX lore. Cooksey has a clip of him just sitting down, looking around...mid-race. if I was his mechanic, I'd throw the damn pit board at him.

I’m still backing the guy. I truly believe he is the smartest person in the room. No-one in recent history has pushed that US-spec factory KX450 to the level it needs to win.

It is so far off what he needs that, in his mind, the most rational way to succeed is to visibly demonstrate dissatisfaction. Risking injury to get 5th will not get Kawi to jump to attention or get Lawi to let him go. Either is a more desirable outcome than a year or 2 wasted on poor machinery.

I hope he moves over to KTM and we can resurrect this post when he battles with Jett. He is significantly more talented than RJ & Hunter Lawrence.

It surprises me in a risky 3 year contract like this, there is no performance clause.

This was a huge risk on Kawi, and we are seeing worst case scenario. I hope for both parties they just move on. Absolutely awful to watch.

I was there dude is not even trying he on cruise mode, maybe rumors is true kawi and prado parting ways after nationals or SMX and no need to push?

Smartest guy in the room? He's a horrible leader and doesn't know how to handle the current situation/stress in the slightest. Even if you make all of the assumptions in the world to get to the point that the bike is from the stoneage, he still isn't handling things correctly.

It is not the bike! If he could find a way within himself to ride somewhere between opening laps speed and his sitting down, looking around, cruising speed we wouldn’t be having this conversation. If he’d be consistent 4th to 5th, as an Ex World Champ in a new country, new conditions, blah, blah blah, no one would be giving him shit.  His riding/results are less than stellar for the CREDENTIALS that he holds and thats what people expect to see but he’s not even in the ballpark, but, big but he shows flashes, however it’s a flash in the pan…

Its been a very tough injury season for Prado.

Don’t We see tons of riders backing off at the end of the year that aren’t still in the championship battle every year?

Lets see how he does during playoffs with big $$$ dangling in front of him.

Nonsense.  RV won fair and square on a track that new to all the riders.  If anything it showed that when the playing field was even, RV was just as fast as anyone, if not faster.  RV wasn't that far off and would have been a title contender by the end of the season had he put some effort into it.

Unfortunately he's the ONLY guy in that room. Soon to be wearing a white jacket that ties in the back.

I was pretty excited on the prospect of Prado coming over to race in the US. Didn’t expect at lot in SX but had high expectations in MX. I also thought he would have a steep learning curve on the tracks, bike, culture etc. they seem like legit reasons for anyone to not win right off the bat.

Unfortunately, it’s gone way off the rails, blaming the bike/team and never accepting any accountability for his performance is a really bad look. It’s a bad look for him, Kawasaki and the rest of the MXGP riders.

I suppose if he jumps ship and wins on a KTM he can say, see it was the bike! But if not, boy that’s going to be an even tougher pill for his ego to swallow.

Just my opinion of course, yours may vary

Personally, I’d really like to see him up front challenging Jett  hunter chase Eli etc. oh well maybe next year.
