Love the sport and glad they are giving a little more cash back with the SMX purse, but that’s way too much to stand in a dirt field, hope your view isn’t blocked by an ez-up or VIP tent and then have to use a porta john. I don’t know man…

Prices are up because people are willing to pay it.  The market sets the price.  SX and MX have been very popular the last few years, and the people who control it know it and have raised prices because they know they can.  From a business stand point it good for the sport.

A local Zoo that has a water park and multiple animal feed stations decided to double their prices because it was suffering from overcrowding. They did those little surveys and most people agreed that there was too many people in the park. So they doubled the prices and capped how many tickets could be sold. They still sold out, made the same money, and the park is much less crowded. I did enjoy walking around not having to wait in line for my kids to be able to feed the animals, but I also feel bad for all the kids that'll miss out on the experience. Maybe the insurance increase was some of the reason, maybe they're wanting less people to go? If you could make the same amount of money and deal with half the idiots it seems like a win win.

Fuel is down and food is down, general costs are stabilizing.. yet all the sudden all of our local tracks and moto venues are still raising prices due to “expenses”.

The expense is called “I want to get more of your money in my account”. Don’t get it confused.

Kinda hard to compare this far apart. What’s a pound of 80/20 beef where you are?

Yesterday at Hangtown a beer was $15. Only had one. And that was an American beer. Shouldn't have been any tariffs....

Generally speaking, most inflation is just soulless opportunism where overhead hasn't changed significantly, or maybe even at all, but businesses see an opportunity to raise prices and they jump on it. The bonus is that since people are so angry trying to use everything they can to attack their enemy, they blame each other for "inflation" while businesses laugh all the way to the bank.

I’m now 65 and usually go to Pala without kids/grandkids nowadays so I treat myself to the VIP section.

It’s been $300 for 4 years in a row. Is the promoters goal to get more spectators under some form of VIP experience and minimum GA? I couldn’t believe the amount of tents at Hangtown. I’m guessing 4-5 at Pala - 20 or so at Hangtown

Sooo was going to go to the Thunder valley National and its pretty damn expensive to sit in the dirt for a day and attend the pits. Adult GA 74$ w/o pit pass, with the pit pass its 108$ per person.....

I paid less to go to the Denver Sx lol... 34$ and we got the suite level with the carpet...(Entered pits with a monster can)... which was a whopping 40$  total for supercross...I cant seem to justify spending double to be wayy less comfortable, other than its Hardcore lol.

Also add in the family (Total of 4) and it was 160$ for supercross vs 432$ for a national.

I have no qualms with them making money but gah damn. I have never paid more for a national than a supercross and i've been attending races for a good while.

You’re comparing it with an exceptionally low priced SX ticket. A $34 ticket to anything now is very cheap. You got a great deal on SX and you’re looking at the going rate for the outdoor national. Go check out MXdN pricing if you want to be shocked.

I think the overpriced beer is a crowd control method. Beer was $17 at Seattle this year. I had two instead of 5-6. I saw zero drunken fights. Damn shame. 😂

You got into SX really cheap so I don’t think you can compare that.

Yes, for my California business it's required to have 6 separate policies in place.  I just got a letter from one of the insurance company saying my premium is going up 25% this year.  This policy premium was 20K, so that means another 5K just for one policy.  It's getting way out of hand.  Rent keeps skyrocketing too.  Newsome and other CA politicians need to go.

What kind of buisness?   There’s ways around high premiums.  Tree trimming is a dangerous job . Some small co.s use landscaping insurance instead of much higher logging insurance.   Anyone know where to buy the cheapest tickets for red Bud for Thursday to Sunday?

Not all the tracks jacked the prices up.  Wi. rapids probably the best sand riding park in the country. Hilly deep sand track , a sx track, massive amount of Really cool trails , a sand bowl , a hill climb .   Wed it’s 10 bucks the rest of the days it’s 20.  Local track outside of gb is 200 for the yr.  They hv races too 50 bucks unlimited classes .

I was gonna go too, but I was shocked by the price as well.  Last time we went in 21 or 22 we got VIP tix, this year VIP is like $300, and basically $100 for GA.  Yeah, I’ll stay home I guess and not walk up and down the hills.

Your forgot $30-40 parking required to pay no matter what and it's in a field of rocks and pot-holes that you still have to walk a minimum of 1/2 mile to get to a bus and shuttle you to then walk up a hillside to get in.

$140 without food and drink but the website makes sure to remind you NO LARGE TENTS OR UMBRELLAS.

So not only are you paying to be uncomfortable but they prohibit bringing anything to GET COMFORTABLE.

Buy yeah I'll go again like every year because there aren't many years left to get to see Tomac rip in his home state.

Ever since COVID, there has seemed to be a much higher demand for live events (concerts, sporting events, etc.), and the prices have increased quite a bit for them.  And attendance has not seemed to fall off, so the venues are still able to charge the high prices.

I wonder if part of it is the increase in work from home, so people feel a little more motivated to get out of their house and DO something more frequently.  So they don't mind paying the higher prices.

Just because it's an American company, doesn't mean all the inputs are American.  The aluminum from the can might be from China.  Or, the can may have been made in China.  Or, the paper cups may have come from China.  Or, the machinery for the brewer might come from Germany (so they increase their prices to budget for future machinery repairs/upgrades, etc.).

100%. Hilarious that people use gas prices as the primary indicator of success or failure of the current administration, lol. Policy does have an effect on fuel pricing, but there are 1000 more factors that dictate petroleum pricing from day to day, week to week that have MUCH more of a significant impact than whatever the president is doing. If you don't believe me do a little research on the big fuel companies barrel pricing/profits after covid, claiming "inflation".

Also this thread delivers in classic vital fashion. An argument made off the bat for the incorrect usage of grammar and the $ placement, straight into using a pound of ground beef as a guiding light as to why ticket prices are up for a professional sporting event. Classic.

Nat tickets are high. It was going to cost $100+ just for tickets for myself and 10-year-old for Hangtown.

I camped at the Pala National= $650 for preferred camping and $190 for 1 adult and 2 kids, no pit passes.

I wanted my kids to have the outdoor National experience, but at $840 with no pit access, I don't know if I'd do it again.  I was surprised how light the camping crowd was, even though as a former SoCal native, I know the locals are soft and don't have near as much enthusiasm as the Red Bud and Washougal crowds...

Inflation. Lawyers. Covid. Remember when some companies were caught price gouging covid prices for like 2 years even after supply chain issues were no longer occurring.

Blaming lawyers is such a lazy low hanging fruit excuse for many and is especially popular in the conservative mx crowd. Matthes evey hates us! The above reminds me of everyone who hates lawyers because they supposedly exclusively are responsible for raise prices of insurance.

Meanwhile, I’ve got a trial next week against State Farm.

My client was in a car accident two years ago. He has $250,000 in medical bills and had to undergo hip surgery. He paid for a $500,000 policy — and he deserves the full amount. Yes, he had a prior hip surgery. Yes, he had a history of hip problems. But here’s the key: his own orthopedic surgeon, who knew all about those prior issues, performed the second surgery and consistently documented that it was caused by this accident.

State Farm doesn’t care. They don’t want to pay. Instead, they hired a so-called “independent” doctor — the same type we’ve all seen before — who makes a living testifying for insurers. According to him, my client magically recovered in three months, and only $15,000 of his $250,000 in medical bills are “accident-related.” Everything else? Arthritis. Pre-existing condition. Failed prior surgery.

But that surgery didn’t fail. My client’s hip slammed into the center console during the crash. That’s why he needed a second surgery.

My client is one of the most decent, funny, down-to-earth people I’ve met. He’s extremely conservative — the kind of guy who probably looked at me sideways when we first met because I’m a personal injury lawyer. But now? Now he sees what State Farm really is. And he’s not alone.

But this is how you run a successful insurance company.

Meanwhile this is State Farms financial statement. "The net worth for State Farm Mutual Automobile Insurance Company ended the year at $145.2 billion compared to $134.8 billion at year-end 2023."https://newsroom.statefarm.com/2024-state-farm-financial-results/

Now, here’s the insurance lobby’s playbook: when an insurer drops the ball — by denying a legitimate claim or lowballing a settlement — and forces the case to trial, a jury hears the full story, gets justifiably outraged, and hands down a verdict that holds the insurer accountable. What happens next? The insurer cries foul, labels the outcome a “nuclear verdict” to paint it as irrational or excessive, and claims there's a growing crisis. They cherry-pick the biggest judgments — often ones they could have avoided with good-faith negotiations — and launch a public and legislative push for tort reform, all to limit future accountability.

Would you mind giving a brief run down of your experience with the operating costs associated with running a track?

Specifically, how much have you dealt with the insurance companies that insure tracks?

How much experience do you have with the costs & requirements associated with this insurance?

Can you tell us how much experience and knowledge you have on how much the insurance costs have risen in just the last 12 months?

Looking forward to your response.
