You have one of the worst takes in history 😆
That 06 RM was badass. Nothing cuts under those things in the corners and headshake wasn't an issue for anyone I knew.
84 RM 125 not sure.
06 YZ also considered a great bike.
2008 KTM SX-F. AKA Lead Sled.
I may have already posted in here, for me it was the 14 250sx. Great engine, bike vibrated something fierce and I was always having to re shim the swing arm pivot. Not to mention the thousands spent trying to get the suspension dialed, which ended up not being so difficult once I started doing it myself
I had one and the spark plug lasted forever? It was actually pretty good and the first 4-stroke I did a full teardown on. A friend's dad didn't know about the decompression lever and started it without it when I broke my clavicle. He told my that it kicked like a mule 😅.

DeCal Works Huge Plastic Inventory of UFO and Polisport kits.
1979 RM80. The fenders were hideous! Yes, ugly is a reason to dislike a bike.
2008 CRF250R. I have nothing positive to say. It was my first foray into four stroke big bikes. Not one thing about it was better than much, much older two strokes.
2000 KTM380. (First MX bike by the way 🤪)
Insanely nice engine.
Insanely shit suspension.
2008 KTM 250 SXF. Coming off of a 2005 CRF250, which was lightly modded, but nothing that would make it a rocketship, I took the KTM out and couldn't clear any of the jumps right out of the corner that I was used to clearing with ease on my Honda. Read reviews, every mag said the stock exhaust was restrictive, so I put a full FMF on and I've still to this day never noticed such a night and day difference when switching out the exhaust. Still, was much slower than my Honda, and I could never get fully comfortable with it.
2009 Kawasaki KX450. It was my first 450 and the thing just felt like an absolute tank of a bike.
I can’t recall if I responded to this thread or not and didn’t look. TM 250 Suzuki, I recall it was 1973. It was a night mare. We never could get it jetted right, pogo sticks for forks and shocks. Even though it never ran clean, I have to say it was dang fast.
The 125 was a handful too. Amazing engine but I did literally 4 tuns until I made an ankle with a false neutral... There was potential though. They were like honda's in the 80/90s, a ton of engine but quite wanted to kill you, it was not a love story at all but at least you were not clicking 5th geat at 40mph. Worse could be the first gen of aluminium honda frames, my arms are just hurting just writing about it, it was a blast on hard pack no rust slow sx tracks, here it was an amazing bike ... only. Honestly the market took a wrong direction with the stock rule and making bikes so stiff that it was not able to go to mx tracks. Best and undervalued as I always say are the 88 yz 250 ohlins and all kx 500, the frames were flexing so much that you just had to keep it pinned to stay alive which was not a bad thing because it was almost possible. Ah; as we are vintage, I hated the 96+ yz 125 unstable frame even more than cr and rm back then and, also undervalued, was the kx, maybe less power stock but you didn't have to think, the kawi was top notch and in the end won a ton of championships. Best vintage bike for me by far.
1982 yz125 radiator on the forks . it blew up.
No doubt my 1980 Kawaski KX125 was the worst it was so slow & nothing you could buy made any real difference
Finally got to ride one a few weeks ago. One of the best bikes I've ever thrown a leg over.
2009 kx450f.
Loved my '83 YZ 125. Felt like a works bike compared to my least favorite new bike, the '81 YZ 125.
2007 CRF150R, took tons of tuning the carb to get the bog to go away. It wasn’t as fast as a well built super mini or even good 85. Was reliable for the most part but the bog made so hesitant
It is funny, couple of guys saying 09 KX450F.
The 09 KX450F is still one of my all time favorite 450's I would trade my 2021 for a nice 09 I think.... better suspension, better FI engine, I honestly cant think of anything I like better about my 2021 KX450 othyer than E-Start.
I am 6'2 195 so size of bike is not a problem
There's only two kind of dirt bikes. Good and better.
Pit Row
My buddies got brand new 1997's and after I test rode one, I was more than happy to keep my 1996. Those 97's sucked. I was shocked how bad it was.
My personal worst... 1989 KX125.
1. Plush suspension
2. Motor slow like a rag was in the airbox.
3. Pistons would break above the top ring by exhaust port, literally a chunk would break off.
4. It was slow.
5. Brakes were spongy no matter what you did with fluid, bleeding, braided lines.
I have always heard a great deal about how shitty thye 97 Honda 250 was. I never had or even rode one. I did have a new 1999 model , which looks about identical to the 97... surprise, I liked it a lot. I suppose they played with the frame stiffness and etc, so in spite of the appearance, it was NOT the same as the 97
How would an 07 yz450 and an 08 yz250f compare to today? Those were the first four strokes I had ever rode, and it was way back during those years as well. Are the bikes infinitely better now? I came off 125s so getting on those big things were quite the adjustment. I flew around turns like Tomac, but I was scared to jump anything lol so heavy and bulky.
I remember MXA doing DG mods porting, head and pipe and it might have been as fast as a stock RM 125
I loved that bike. My first real mx bike. I guess I didn’t know better. Won a lot of trophies with it.![]()
Didn’t load my photo.
Ok I give up.
2020 KTM 350 SX-F not because the bike itself is bad. Just the one I ended up buying was a lemon.
Blew a head gasket within 10 minutes of riding it, we pull the cams. Found a dowel pin was missing and head bolt held with about 7 pounds of force.
Front brake was ate up, kill switch wire damaged causing the bike to die randomly. Rear shock was completely blown. Bike ate two cam chain tensioners, one mid race.
After a lot of work it ended up pretty good.
There have been quite a few bikes pop up in this thread and I think damn I loved that bike. Like you say, I probably didn't know better and just made the best of it.
1980 Kawasaki KLX 250. $800 new because they could not sell them. Wonder why? Tried to make it moto worthy. Broke 3 third gears in 3 months.
1990 KTM 300 MXC. Fun to ride. My only bike to ever leave me stranded away from the truck. Kick. Tow. Push. Would not start. Take it home fired first kick. Power valve would hit piston and break. Damage would crush top of the piston. Second or third time this happened, rode another day with broken powervalve bouncing in the pipe. Repaired and then sale.
Let's try loading from my laptop since my phone wouldn't let me load a photo.
