Webco, Yep!............that little run way return back down the side ruled. I'm so glad I got this pic of just me on the start, showing the whole uphill, plus the hills & classic fire station in the background.........could only be Saddleback. This start hill was the BEST.......& I remember the butterflies really kicking in when he made the mad dash for that lever...........cause you knew in a couple seconds from then "it was ON". So much fun backing off the gate right before the lever pull & ramming it..........until they banned that action. 125's coming down the hill for sure...

Last race day EVER at Saddleback! I'm getting my tail kicked out in 2nd. I knew when it was announced that they were re-opening that it may only be for a short time with all the problems going on. I told my Dad "we have to go this weekend in case it doesn't stay open". I don't think very many guys heard about the re-opening cause I don't remember many people there that day. It was so nice to get back on that track after it had been closed for a while. Never saw the Dunes closing coming either.........just...

I hate getting old but I'm very thankful to have been a teenager in the 70s. Started racing MX in 72. Had a 1969 Camaro in HS with an Sanyo 8 Track player (had a case in the back seat with 24 8 tracks). You could ride in any open field and nobody complained. And there were a lot of dirt bikes in the 70s. No internet, no social media. Just riding dirt bikes, hanging out with friends and listening to rock. Life was good.

I'm 20 min from the gates at Hangtown, 16-18 if I hit all green lights. Haven't been since '22, and that was only to see Cairoli in person, don't intend to go back. My couch has a better climate, better viewing on Peacock, and all the beer I can drink for under $20 just 10 steps away.

66 here. Race Moto approx 15-20 weekends per year. Several years back was thinking about quitting, hucking those 70-90’ booters to be competitive was definitely not in my plans.
