I bought an aftermarket set of clamps for my '83 YZ250. If anyone knows this bike, it needs at least an inch of height in that area. The bar clamps are too low. know who makes something at least an inch higher? I did buy some Pro Taper but the bolt pattern didn't fit and they weren't tall enough anyway.

I thought about a longer bolt and making a spacer, but that bolt head is pretty hard to duplicate.
Get FMX bars or vintage bend bars. They have a much taller rise than current bends. ProTaper has a chart.

Is that a billet top triple clamp, or sanded and polished stocker?
I don’t remember that era YZ250 having separate bar mounts. Mika might have suggestions for handlebars.
The 490s had rubber mounted handlebar setups. I always swapped the 490 top clamps over to my 250s that ran 43mm forks.
I'm more interested in the billet top clamp - I'm pretty close to getting my vintage racer dialed in, now it's time to add unnecessary bling
I did the same on my YZ '81, great improvement! ✌️
pretty sure those clamps are NorCal Vintage Racing
Are you running fat bars or 7/8?
You would be correct.
If you want, I'll post a few pics. I'd still like my bars about an inch higher, but I'll deal with it for now. Here's a link to them.
