Yes they should work fine. There should be a number on the head just like the cylinder. 4XL will be a 98 head. I

4XL10 is a 98 cylinder. I'd buy the eBay cylinder and find a used reed valve and intake boot and go from there. That will be cheaper than fixing that 98 cylinder.

Then it isn't the 95-98 cylinder. Those were all female. Maybe it's a 94? What does the sides of it look like. The 95-98 have a big resonance chamber on the left side of the cylinder. The ports are boost ports that help feed the bottom end during the ... more »

The 98 cylinder has the same reed valve and bolt pattern as the 99+ motors but it is different from the 94-97 reed valve pattern. If you switched to a 96 cylinder you would have to get a reed valve and intake boot. The exhaust should be fine as both ... more »

Actually your probably right that it is a Hooker. The Bassanini used a different heat shield on the DS bikes as we had on our TS185 when I was a kid.

There is a couple different ways that folks do it but the basic design is make the hot gasses go around something so that anything burning hits packing first. So if they welded a washer in the main flow path with a small hole it'll force most of the

Looks Bassanini to me also, regardless it isn't stock! Really clean bike for it's age too. Looks like someone already has spent some time on setting up that bike, I see a regular VM carb, Koni shocks and it is stripped all the MT equipment. First pass ... more »

WPC is more for strength and it reduces friction by "trapping" oil in micro valleys but it won't reduce friction like ISF as that is a micro polish process. I doubt most folks will notice the difference between the two when in actual use and I'd go for ... more »

So find a set of 81 YZ250/465 forks in 43mm.. Which are the same forks found on the 82-83 YZs and 84/85 IT200 and 83 IT250. That the biggest set besides aftermarket that should be allowed in the YZs up to 81 are allowed in the class.

So does that mean Yamaha's don't race in the twin shock class since there last twin shock was a 74 MX? If they allow Yamaha's up to 81 as those are the non linkage years of the monoshock you need to find a set of 43mm YZ forks. Yamaha even made a set ... more »
