I like the adapter bracket for using an older pipe on the newer frame. Is that custom or something you can buy? I have an 02 with 98 cylinder and mating Bill's pipe but haven't come up with a bracket yet.

I was under the impression that they only had a 01-02 model years but sales started in 00 and lasted till 03 when they filed for bankruptcy. The ATVs were more popular

Two years I believe. The local shop became a dealer for Cannondale. They tried to release in 99 but gave the boot to the falon motor and developed there own for a release in 00. Then lingered on to 01 before giving up. I got to try a preproduction unit ... more »

Boneyard isn't always the best at getting back to you through email.. Usually if I don't hear from them in a day or two I email again. Small outfit (one person really) but tend to have a bunch of stuff at reasonable prices.

I almost posted that last night myself. The 80-86 CRs probably had 25-50% new content each year that didn't interchange! I have a 80 CR250 which shares a bit of 78/79 CR250 parts but a lot that is different. I built a 81 CR250 and while the 82/82 look ... more »

True but the 89 RM 125 had conventional forks..

Small nit. 89 RM 125 had conventional forks.

Traditional ACR classes can be a little much since they tend to group by decades but it should be a great time regardless!

What are you looking for? MX-Tech makes an aftermarket seal head for them to replace the 2 piece unit.

79 YZ was an all around good machine, Yamaha tucked the front end a little, got a better shock and the motor was bullet proof. - Hannah was the man so they sold a ton and parts are still easy to find. 78.5/79 RMs were good, great motor and good suspension,

Added reply in a thread Brake shoes for 1979 YZ 250 ? and drum brake arcing 12/16/2019 6:25 AM

There are two types of arching. Arching the drum and Arching the Pads. Arching the drum puts the braking surface on center of the axle and brake plate which is what the lathe is needed for. Yamaha's are half decent on concentricity so it's not an absolute ... more »

Great read. My first brand new bike was a 98 YZ250. Everything Noleen developed for the rear suspension was incorporated into the later year bikes. I was a big Tim Ferry fan since he rode the 98 for team Noleen, the red white and blue graphics and Noleen

I know Suzuki ran the VM32mm carb on their RM125 from 76-82 before switching over to the TM34 on the new 83 reed valve only motor. A popular mod from all the major tuners was to bolt on a VM34 but I can't seem to find any specs on them. Anybody know ... more »

It could be a Noleen bike. The easy way to tell is the skid plate, N engraved on the cylinder, and Ti Subframe. That said it might not be the 11 bike that was raced but a practice bike. Still cool nonetheless.

WP4054s were good forks in there day. Better than the early KYB and Showa offerings. White Brothers use to sell them as an aftermarket upgrade along with the shocks. KYB and Showa caught up to them about 93..

The 96-04 steel framed YZs were considered the top runners of their time. The 02-04s are considered the best of the last years but the earlier 98-00 had more punch. I'm bring back to life a 02 that has a 97 top end, bills pipe, vforce and blueprinted. ... more »

It's got plenty of power and it feels like a strong modern 300 but with less over rev and more vibration. Lol It does get going in a hurry but the brakes are decent if you remember vintage racing is about carrying speed on the outside lines of the corners.
