OK.
I was letting this go waiting for the post. It hasn't come.

The 1973 AT125 Yamaha.
What a piece of absolute crap.

I don't think details are necessary.

My Dad had a 1992 teal KTM that was set up for Enduros, so it wasn't technically mine but I tried to ride it around the Carnegie MX track when I was 14 or so. I didn't even make it a lap until I looped it out on a table and broke my big toe and collar bone. I now refuse to ride any bike that isn't made in Japan.

Yz 426.
Just started racing, bought it brand new, pain to start, felt heavy
Poor choice on my part
I tried a friends' 426 when I was racing YZ250's. Couldn't believe how gutless it felt on the top end. I guess it was from being used to 2 strokes, but every time I gassed it down a straight I was almost waiting for a kick that never came. Gave it back to him wondering why everyone was going crazy for these new bikes that seemed heavier, slower, and more expensive lol.

I never really hated any of the bikes I have owned. But the "worst" would probably be my 2011 KTM 350sx-f. Suspension was harsh stock and had a very strange feeling chassis out of the box. After the 2013s came out I realized it had a very weak engine for a 350.

But, after a revalve and a linkage change the bike ended up working really well. It was also dead nuts reliable for nearly 200 hours. Not a bad bike by any means.

Honorable mention 2006 KX450f, she was a brute in every sense of the word. Also, not really a bad bike.

KTM 420cc 1979 model. After a great season on a Maico 440cc, got offered a sponsorship deal on one on the new KTM’s. Whilst it was very fast , reliability was a nightmare. Went through several clutch’s, frame broke and was replaced 3 times and plastic fuel was porous and leaked fuel, decals came off!
So glad when I got back onto a Maico although 1980 wasn’t their finest year!

Interesting take you have there.

06 RM250 was a great bike and won the 2006 MXA 250 shootout by a bit over the YZ250. Regarding +06 YZ250s being bad...well, that's just an off beat opinion , unless you just don't like 2 strokes in general.

You owned one ? Was it as bad as MXA said ? I've heard some people say aside from the reliability nightmares it was a decent bike to ride . National points were scored on it .

Honestly I enjoyed the bike, but the amount of money we dropped into that bike to keep it running was astonishing.

We could not stop that bike from over heating….

My father in law stepped in when he thought I was doing something wrong on the maintenance and took it to his mechanic. Made it one moto before it over heated.

Then we Swapped the radiator, put oversized caps, all new lines, etc. Made it all of another moto before it over heated….father in law, fully perplexed, paid to have the bike ran through top to bottom. Replaced anything that looked even slightly a miss or could have anything to do with the bike getting too hot….made it half a moto.

When back to the mechanic, and his exact words were “either throw the bike away, or burn it”
This was one of my all time favorite bikes. Threw a pipe on it and paid FC some good coin to do the suspension and that was it. I was so confident on that bike. I guess I just got a good one. Mine was bulletproof. Of course, maybe I'm just slow enough not to tax the bike all that much? LoL

I'm with the rest of you. 1999 CR250. miniscule bottom, zero mid, non-existent top. Shittiest forks on the planet.

It was cool in design, but horrible in execution. I wanted one as soon as I saw it, tested one and bought one a few years later and it was the biggest pain in the ass! I constantly was working on it. When I would change the oil, it was always looked like metallic pain from thhe wear on aluminum parts internationally. Wouldn't start half the time. Looked cool setting in my garage.....

Just because it won the shoot out on the MXA mag doesn't make it a great bike. I've owned 2 of them & they both handled like dog shit.. Owned 02 & 04 YZ250's that were leaps & bounds better than the 06,09 & 11 YZ250's (also owned) do to the steely frames. Yamaha went backwards IMHO on the 05 + YZ250's (got to ride one).

BTW - I prefer a 2T over a 4T & have owned many of both going back 4+ decades.

A quote from the MXA mag itself -
Q: HOW DOES IT HANDLE?

" Suzuki, on the other hand, is all cut-and-thrust. They are willing to give up straight-line stability for quickness, to trade a little head shake for accuracy in the corners and to seek one superlative at the cost of others.

The question you have to ask yourself is—are you willing to give up some sense of security at speed to be able to slice, dice and Julienne the competition in the corners? Answer yes and you have no choice but to race a Suzuki. It is the only bike that can walk the tightrope between brilliant and schizophrenic".

Or don’t like Yamaha, period. I’ve ridden several, both 2 and 4 stroke, hated every one of them.

I have owned some shit bikes, but two really stand out.

1981 CR125. It broke a lot, was heavy and wasn't nearly as fast as any other 125 in 81 (or in 1980 for that matter). My '83 CR125 that replaced it was night and day better (and the 83 CR wasn't as good as an 81-83 RM125...).

1987 YZ250. It was so heavy. Horrible suspension, and I could never get it jetted right. It put me on my head a lot! Of any bike I've owned I hate this one the most.

Bottom line...How many bikes are shootout winners and are picked as being the worst bike ever by riders?

Had an 05 RM250 and it was a fantastic bike!!

Regarding your take on +06 YZ250s being included with your worst bike ever...Have had an 06 YZ250 since it was new and in my opinion, another great bike. Only changed things like piston/rings, clutch plates and nothing has ever broken on it.

Different strokes for different folks...just thought it was interesting that your worst bikes of all time were on my fav list.

Mine was an 87 250CR Husky. I actually liked the bike except for it was broken most of the time. It had a really basic electronic power valve that only seemed to last two or three weeks at a time. Good thing I still had my 86 so I could keep racing. The next year I wanted to buy a new 250 Cagiva but they wouldn't sell it me because of all the issues I had with the 87 Husky, probably very lucky for me. Dealer said he would only sell me a new RM250. Bought two that year and another dozen more after that.

2012 husky cr144. It wasn’t new but it wasn’t abused by any means when I traded for it. Best looking bike I ever owned IMO. However it was the slowest (I’ve owned plenty of 2000+ cr125s so I know what slow is) bike ive ever ridin for its size. I had the cylinder ported and replated and then it was an animal for 20 minutes untill the exhaust port bridge cracked. After 3 replate, repair and new piston top ends I gave up and never looked back.

How can you post 2 of the best modern 250 2 strokes of all time (06+ YZ and 06 RM) and call them the worst, while always claiming the 02 CR250 (worst modern 250 2 stroke of all time) is the best.

At this point I think you just say this shit to bait people or are an extremely insecure Honda die hard

I’ve owned all 3 (19 YZ, 06 RM, 02, 04, 07 CR250) and bye far the CR’s are the worst bikes I’ve owned. Add my 2021 CRF250 to that list as well. I actually think my 96 CR250 was a better bike than all the other CR’s I owned.

93 YZ125, seized it 3 times, snapped the rear linkage 2 times, split the intake manifold twice. Turned me from die hard Yamaha fan, to a Die hard Honda fan when I was 15.

Just some friendly advice. No need to take this stuff so seriously. It’s just based on my experiences & it’s my opinion just like you have yours.
No click bait on my end. The OP asked a question on his thread & I answered it based on my experience.

He’s just a Honda diehard. I watched him say the same stuff over and over at TT. Nothing wrong with being brand loyal, but to group an 06+ YZ or last gen RM as one of the worst bikes you’ve ever owned is bananas.
