The Question:
Is Prado going to make it work ?
The Answer:
Yes
And, I won’t be surprised if he ends up spending some time back east at various Carolina/Georgia/Florida tracks. He didn’t stumble into those World Championships by accident. 🤣
A lot of peoples expectations were too high.
The differences between MXGP and our MX series don't appear that significant on the surface...I mean, it's guys riding dirt bikes on dirt tracks. But, historically very few have had great success trying their hand at the opposite series.
It'd be interesting to interview the few that have made it work to see if there's something they have in common that others don't.
if i remember correctly RC was just a fat little red-head dork until he bleached the tips and started taking MC's lunch money and banging the trophy girls. that and the orange Fox gear.

This is my recollection of the events as well.
Tips win
He needs to go to Florida, everyone else is alredy there. Best place to train. Creates a tougher rider.
Glennhellen is closer to a national track than any of those flat east coast tracks with man made hills.
In about 3-4 weeks every factory rider will be training in SoCal for a few weeks anyways.
He will be fine.
For the record Ferrandis in 2021 was based in CA with DV and won the outdoor championship.
Will it work for prado ? Not sure he can win the title for his first year, he will be much better next year in my opinion
ahh yeah i forgot Ferrandis thats right.
MX: Absolutely
SX: Having to go straight to the big boy class puts his odds really low. Not saying it can’t happen, but racing the world’s best that all have years of experience and almost all with regional titles is a very tough hill to climb.
Herlings went 1-1 at Ironman and Clemente Desalle almost podiumed at Unadilla in the past. I think Prado will be just fine, may take few races to adjust but the dude is 2x 450 champion. Who also was beating Herlings and Gasjer. Who Gasjer went toe to toe with Jett…
You may be on to something…..but….no way in hell RC banged a trophy girl…..
Jorge is from Spain so I don't think hot weather will bother him much. I agree with the rest of your points though, it will be tough for him to beat Jett in his first year, but he will get starts, and he's hard to pass, so hopefully he can make it exciting.
I think Prado will be really good outdoors and be in the title picture next year and beyond.
SX is probably stacked against him but I think he could be top 7 in points so long as he survives going forward. That said next year in SX is probably really going to show us where he stands going forward.
Serious question, how are his starts on the Kawi? I know he's good at MXGP (do they use metal grates) on the KTM, but how was he this year on the Kawi in SX ? I don't remember him leading any laps.
Prado comes from the north-west of Spain where it is definitely not as hot as in the south. Moreover, he lived in Belgium for a long time. Prado has had problems with the heat, especially in his mx2 time. But maybe his time in Italy did him good in terms of dealing with heat.
IDK about the original question, but I'm happy we have him here.
I've been watching the videos of him riding lately, damn does he look good on a bike. Excited to see him in the mix with Eli, Jett and Chase.
The heat will be hot, he's from Spain, not the Himalayas.
Anyone that thinks he dosent have an equal chance outdoors, is pullin their pud.
Pit Row
‘Glass half full’… what if it works in his favour? Because the lines he wants to use are smooth and not beaten up??
If he starts just as well on his kawa as he did on his gasgas he'LL be fine
Prado will ne very competitive during the nationals. SX is going to take a few years.
Well.
We have nothing to judge him on at this point. If he doesn't run up front and challenge for wins outdoors then we can talk.
There is some merit to the weather factor. Just because he's a Spaniard doesn't mean there won't be an adjustment and Spain isn't as far south as you seem to be thinking for that matter. It's about the same latitude and size as Illinois' Indiana, Ohio and Kentucky combined. Those guys don't run in the heat and humidity nearly as much as we do here in the summer.
Oh best believe, Jett was the one who wasnt much of a question mark lol. So excited to see Jett destroy outdoor tracks again
Comparative latitude is meaningless as Europe has the jetstream and its weather patterns are very different from ours at the same latitude. Spain gets super hot in the summer, triple digits consistently in some areas. MotoGP races there are brutal
I do think Prada will struggle with the heat as he doesn’t train in Spain and it has been an issue for him his entire career
😄😄
Prado ain't doing SHIT.
He's euro through and through
The confidence he needs, needs to come from the American fan base...He ain't got it.
Laugh at American 'Freeways' all you like.
Ain't got that dog in him man.
You think prado's got the red necks of red bud in his corner?
Nope.
There needs to be a third reaction to click. There is the thumbs up, thumbs down. There needs to be a laugh. Only to react to witty comments that make me laugh. Because they are really good. Bravo.
Brave move for a euro champ to come over and start his USA MX career in 450 supercross. Bit him right in the ass and now coming into outdoors in less than 100% top form.
