Kawi 450 used market is terrible because if you wait for about 6 months after the new ones hit the showroom, then you can get a new one for $7,000 OTD.
Its a good thing prices are normalizing, make negotiations at a shop better as well. Good on those who made that hussle !
Wow Craigs List is still going?
Definitely a buyers market now. The mountain bike world is even worse than ours.

The kids bike market seems to be ok- Sold my sons ‘19 KTM 50 this morning after listing it last night. But I tend to price things on the cheaper side as I prefer to sell fast. Not worth sitting on something for months over a measly few hundred dollars..
I am in the market for a 450- just can’t decide what I want..new/used …KTM, Yamaha, Husky…struggling to decide.
Its obvious some folks have no idea what bikes are selling for- sitting on a bike for months because they are asking too much. Then constantly marking them down…
I offered a local guy $8500 for a ‘24 KTM 450 and ‘96 CR125 (was selling both) and he turned me down. Both bikes still sitting for sale…
Im still waiting for the big ktm selloff😂 only 55hrs on my 24 350, I”ll take her to 100hrs and then start looking for deals on 25”s…
First with everything thats going on all around the world with the tarrifs … Take your time because the new 2026 bike prices are going to increase so that is going to create more used bike demand and increase the used market prices.
No…stop being a tariff fear monger..
First off the USA and Japan/Europe are working on a deal..Secondly bikes are not made in the USA or imported from China and so tariffs on China doesn’t effect bikes prices. Europe and Japan are not increasing tariffs on China…
What did the 96 Look like Real clean ? You know u need that or a Profeshenaly sweetly tuned 04 with the 1st yr of inner honed forks & the best chassis of all time. Hey I stopped Richfield Quick trip Wednesday. I,m gonna put 1 of those 6 ft trophies next to my practice bike . And title the ad , what to win ? Well then u need this . Haha Sell it with a new stock pipe & silencer , carb tech reeds , gp piston, oem bars , gold chain , stock rear sprocket , oem graphics, replated cylinder. Etc 3,900 Baby .
The 96 was pretty clean- looked mostly original and was located right in Slinger. I am a few miles from that Kwik trip..that property used to be Skelly’s truck stop- worked there as my first job washing dishes. Would ride my 1980 CR80 to work.
Yep. I sold a 15 350sx for $3500 in 19. If I’d waited two years, I could have made an extra 2 grand.
I think you made out great on the 350. That thing is mint
Issue is to many bikes sold during covid for crack head prices that have flooded the market the last 3 years and sat or sat in consignment. The oems flooding the market woth new bikes thinking that was going to last and the world economy and especiall the American economy going to shit the last 4 years. Prices started to drop and deeper rebates to move new bikes flooded a flooded market. Nothing going on the last 90 days is the reason for the buyers market.
Actually pretty much all of the play bikes and cheaper dual sports are built in china.
Market is definitely soft. Dealer round' here with best of prices still has full inventory on bikes of all flavors. Very unusual as every year at this time bikes are usually sold out. Used is dead too. I've never had problems selling used bikes up until the last year. I have a brand new 24' YZ250F that I cannot sell at all. No big deal as I'll keep it but sure is quite a change from what it was a year or so ago.
I sold my KTM 350 with 103 hrs pretty quick . I listed it a little high and got took $4500 for it ,what it thought it was worth. With that many hrs I think I got lucky but it was a great bike . I paid 10k otd for my 25 350
I think its finally starting to get somewhat normal, it has actually been totaly madness on the used market sence covid. i think some dealers is going to have change there style soon or they will go bankrupt.
Kind of amusing how everyone not trying to sell a bike at the moment is super happy it’s returning to “normal”. No, it’s gone past the old normal now and is completely in the crapper to the point it makes more financial sense to keep it or part it out.
Pit Row
I remember when parting out a bike was a good way to buy used parts. Now everyone on eBay is asking crazy money for used parts. I go to motosport or Rocky mountain and the OEM parts are cheaper brand new than, just insane. I bought a used engine for a roller project, and it was cheaper to buy it from Australia and import it than buy any in the USA.
I just sold a 2018 TE-300 for $4850, which was exactly what I was asking for it. Sold in the first few days after listing on Marketplace. Had 2 other buyers waiting if the first guy flaked. TBH, I was quite shocked at the interest the bike generated, especially given the current state of the market. I was kicking myself for not listing at a higher price. Ha! Bike was in immaculate condition though with 170 hrs. Additionally, It was the last year of the carbed bikes. People still want carburetors I guess! Ha!
On a side note, I replaced the TE with a 2025 TX-300. I shopped the heck out of it and the best deal I could find was $11,300 otd. I was a bit surprised at how little the dealers wanted to budge on price. In fact, the local dealer in Austin wouldn't move a penny of of retail. Basically told me he doesn't need to discount the TX/XC 300's as they sell them all day long at retail, which would be appx 13k OTD!!😲
2023 GG mc 250 carb model. Maybe 60 hours on it. Can’t even get any low ball trade offers at 5k. Been for sale since October.
Credit cards are maxed out, we're $34T in debt. Hence the reason for DOGE, those checks are never getting sent out.
Try marking your sale where buyers are looking. Who even looks at CL in this decade? I remember the early internet well. CL def had a place in that time. Long since retired. Try FB marketplace?
That’s weird. I’m in ma and most 24+ yz models I see listed are selling quickly.
Craigslist is alive and well in San Diego.
I've bought and sold plenty of vehicles.off of it.
Facebook Marketplace may have more listings, but they also don't do a good job of clearing out old listings, so half of what's listed is no longer available.
I only got a few calls for a '22 at $5,600. 6+ mo and priced under some with more hours. So, here it sits, waiting for a HS kid I know trying to save up, but he's trying to sell his 125.
Location?
Soft indeed. Normalized seems like a fair point.
Then again, doesn’t the average American family carry around 10-12K of credit card debt now with little to no emergency savings?
The average consumer is not in a good spot, economically.
You’re exactly right about presentation. A dirty bike that “just needs rings” won’t sell.. and soap is pretty cheap, just wash the thing thoroughly, blast it with SC-1 and maybe get a set of cheap tires if the old rubber is shot. Make the bike look 100% ready to ride and it’ll sell way faster/better price.
This has been my experience. I’m no pro with FB but if I search “yz250F” I get every kind of bike, old adds and no responses. In SoCal I have good success with CL and also Offer Up is good.
